"Although this is a production model A6, i put a prototype panel buttons and knobs on it. It's hard to photograph, but the panel is silver and grey instead of silver and blue like a regular A6. The buttons are white and the knob tops are white instead of silver. It looks super cool!!"

Riding On Electrons

Published on Nov 1, 2013 Ray Wilson·59 videos

"This is a tune I put together so that I'd quit humming it. I used the MFOS Modular and my guitar and had some fun with the idea. The "We're all riding on electrons" hook was rolling around in my head for some time so here it is like a stake through a vampire's heart. I'm free at last... SONAR 8 Producer continues to be stable on my machine using solid state memory. This had a fair amount of MIDI and audio tracks and a slew of effects. I hope you enjoy it. Just a montage of layered visualizations.

Atomic force inside us
With its quantum energy
Quantum fields are binding
All that make up you and me

We ride upon a quantum wave
The razor's edge of time
A sheen upon reality
A quandary in a rhyme

Chorus
We're all riding
On electrons...

We all ride upon the outer shell
Of probability
Dark energy and matter
May perhaps just hold the key

The closer that we look at things
The more we seem to see
I think that on the smallest end
We'll find infinity

Chorus
We're all riding
On electrons...

Cheers all

Ray"

An Interview with Rick Wakeman on Astronauta Pinguim

Full interview on Astronauta Pinguim

"How many Minimoog model D synthesizers did you have during all your career and how many of those Minimoogs do you still have? Can you tell us a little bit about the history of your Minimoogs?

RICK - I don't know the exact answer, but I think I have probably owned about 20 Minimoogs in my lifetime. I currently have 9. Finding good ones is extremely difficult. I have a very good man who repairs them for me and keeps them in good order. I cannot even imagine not having one. I have bought them for many different countries, and one from Switzerland which amazingly I used to own back in the early seventies!"

Doors open: 6:30 pm.
$15-$20.
Town Hall in Seattle, 8th & Seneca (enter on 8th Avenue side).

Two artistic innovators join forces for one stunning performance when Morton Subotnick, "the grandfather of Electronica," and Berlin-based video artist Lillevan share the stage for a program that spans time and media. The co-developer of the original Buchla synthesizer, Subotnick is a pioneer in the development of electronic music, multimedia performance, and the use of interactive computer music systems; he rocketed to fame with his 1967 work Silver Apples of the Moon, which has become a modern classic. Together on stage-along with a Buchla synthesizer and Ableton Live-Subotnick and Lillevan (co-founder of the visual/audio group Rechenzentrum) weave together the musical phases and techniques invented by Subotnick during 50 years of explorative work, drawing connecting lines from the analog past into the digital present.

Presented by: Town Hall as part of the Arts & Culture series in partnership with the University of Washington School of Music.

Media sponsorship by Seattle Weekly.

Tickets: Advance tickets are $17 general/$15 Town Hall members; $20/$18 at the door.
