Women's Synth Workshop Coming to The Kitchen on May 10th New York

Facebook Event Page
And via The Kitchen:

"Organized by Molly Smith in collaboration with The Kitchen, Women's Synth Workshop is the first event in a continuing series focused on inspiring women to learn about the technical aspects and ideas behind modular synthesis and experimental electronic music. Led by various prominent women in the field—including Alice Cohen, Rose Kallal, Delia Gonzalez, Lori Napoleon, Abby Echiverri, Liz Wendelbo, and Xeno and Oaklander—the event will feature daytime discussions, lectures, and interactive demonstrations before transitioning to performances. Floor model synthesizers will be provided by the Williamsburg synth shop Control. All visitors welcome regardless of gender.

Created in 1971, The Kitchen is among the oldest non-profits in the country, whose legacy in electronic and experimental music is especially strong. Among composers and performers who presented some of their earliest and seminal works here early are Maryanne Amacher, Laurie Anderson, David Behrman, Harold Budd, Philip Glass, Pauline Oliveros, and Steve Reich. Today the organization’s board features such composers as Bryce Dessner and Nico Muhly.

Atomic Division = Leap Motion Controller+Modular+Octatrack+Big Sky

Published on May 7, 2014 A Box In The Sea·9 videos

"I wanted to do some experimenting with controlling many parameters on different instruments and effects at the same time. There is knob turning but it's limited for obvious reasons. Geco (the midi program for the Leap Motion) however, gives an amazing amount of control (16 parameters at once and more if you can remember the gestures). I kept this one relatively simple with 11 parameters. 3 on the Big Sky and 8 on the Octatrack. The sound is the Pluck setting on the MI Braids sequenced by the Rene. It is going to a Thru track on the OT with 3 neighbor tracks supplying effects. It is really amazing to control so many things at once. It really is a NEW way to think about sound manipulation because you don't have to automate to get really complex effects in what I see as endless combinations!!"

Devil Fish 303 Alien FM

Published on May 7, 2014 TB-303 Devil Fish·17 videos

"This is an extreme example of the TB-303 Devil Fish being pushed far from the traditional 303 sound, with FM and feedbacks loops, using the filter out to the Moogerfooger MF101 in self oscillation, which is being modulated by the CP251's LFO to Cutoff Frequency, at its output the signal is split into two and sent to (1)-the MXR Fullbore metal pedal its output is routed to the Filter FM in of the Devil Fish, (2)-the Boss MT-2 Metal Zone pedal its output is routed to the Audio in to Filter of the Devil Fish, this creates a simultaneous dual feedback loop.
The main audio out of the Devil Fish is sent to Boss SD-2 Dual Overdrive pedal, which also has the Accent CV out of the Devil Fish to the remote in which switches it between Crunch and Lead(on Accented notes), the audio out from this pedal is sent to the Moogerfooger MF104z Delay pedal which also has the CV out from the Devil Fish modulating the Time parameter, its output is sent to Analog four for some slight reverb, the Analog four is sending 2x LFOs to the Dynamic Bank Switching mod of the Devil Fish switching it between 4 banks (=8 patterns, as 2 are selected).
Recorded into Logic with some post editing (compression, and stereo enhancement), filmed with a Gopro."

Miniemerson as to Minimoog Spotted at Moogfest

See him down there, towards the right?  Like the Minimoog to the original Moog Synthesizer, Keith Emerson has a Mini version of himself to help out when playing live.  Miniemerson with an AION Modular eurorack system? No?

Ok, humor aside, Flickr shot by David Oppenheimer (click through for more and don't forget to come back!)
