Multivox MX 3000 vintage synthesizer demo

"Demonstrating some of the sounds from a rare synth of the late 70's. I fixed up this old gem and have been very happy with the results. This is really three in one: a bass synth, a lead synth, and a divide down polysynth.
I start off by playing the full keyboard to show it all works (in case I regrettably have to sell)
No extra processing going on, just recorded audio from iMovie. I did pan the dry poly channel a little bit.."

"This Prophet T8 analog synthesizer (Serial 1008-000742, 3.8 Main ROM, 3.7 LS and MS ROM) works but needs some care and repair. It has the following issues that we can detect:

1) Unit has been stored in an Anvil metal case for around 8 years. The case foam decayed, leaving a sticky residue on the unit. We have cleaned the exterior as best we can, but there is still some slight staining of metal and wooden surfaces and some foam has gotten inside the unit. The black paint or enamel on some of the knobs appears to be loosening. There are some minor scratches on the top lid, and chipped paint on one edge of the lid. The F and G keys in the highest octave have odd spacing, the G key rides a bit high and highest C a bit low but this does not appear to affect play.

2) The Anvil case is solid and sturdy on the outside and has average wear. Inside, its protective foam has deteriorated into sticky powder and has been removed. New foam can be easily purchased and glued in to refurbish the case. The synthesizer will be secured in temporary packaging inside this case for shipment.

3) The T8 has 8 voices. In Split mode, 4 voices are assigned to the right side of the keyboard and the other 4 are assigned to the left. (The point between right and left can be adjusted to any key you choose.) In Single mode, all 8 voices play the sound of your choice (right or left), and in Double mode, a pair of voices (one from the right and one from the left) plays each note, for a total of 4 pairs.

On this particular T8, all 4 voices on the right appear to work properly. 3 of the voices on the left have some problems. (One of those is different in a minor way). It's probably just one component in each voice that needs to be replaced. Without replacing them, those voices play sounds, but not the same sound as is desired (one is close but not exactly correct; the other two seem very different). It is possible to disable a voice easily, just hold down a key that's playing the bad sound, and at the same time hold down RECORD (the red button) and press 7. After that, the disabled voice will not play until the unit is turned off and on again, the processor will just choose a different voice to use instead.)

4) The factory presets have been overwritten. If you get a cassette of the digital data for the presets, you can load them back into the T8 through a cassette port. Or you can save your own presets, of course."

"1.01 of Casio CZ-101. Why fuzz. Get a real synth for dinner.

The CZ-101 was my first synth and now I got one again. Filled with nostalgia, I made a little multitracked SONGAMAGOOP just to try it out again."

This would have been a great one for mother's day.

via the seller:

"This is an unmodified Univox K-2 synth circa 1973. Serial #00953. The synth was also sold as the Korg Mini-Korg 2 or the MiniKorg 700S. It is a monophonic analog synth with dual oscillators.

It has a great, fat, warm sound.

I won't go into the specifics about this model since I would assume that you already know what it is if you are seriously thinking about bidding on it. Instead, I will describe the specific instrument up for auction.

Everything is original except for the third octave "A" key which was replaced with an "old-new stock" key, the original plywood side panels were replaced with hardwood (Ash) side panels, and the output jacks were replaced as part of a recent servicing.

The keyboard was recently serviced (5/5/14) by synthesizer specialists Sam Mims and Gerald Dentro at Syntaur in New Braunfels, TX. They cleaned all the switches and faders, replaced the output jacks, and gave it a clean bill of health.

Everything functions as it should except that the power light does not light. Since I could not find an original replacement, I left it alone."
