Guy J - Lamur - Tony's Live Hardware Remix

Published on Jul 15, 2015 Tony Horgan

"My recreation of the Guy J classic, played live on a Korg Volca Keys, Volca Bass, Roland Aira TR-8 and Cyclone Analogic TT-303 Bass Bot. Recorded on a Tascam DP24. Check out the original mix and super-funky Henry Saiz remix if you like this :-) https://pro.beatport.com/release/lamu... Tech details follow for those who are interested.... The TR-8 is the MIDI master, which starts all the other gear. The bassline is played on the TT-303 Bass Bot in "Track" mode, using 4 patterns. The chords are played by the Korg Volca Bass, which is set to a tempo of 16bpm (1/8th of the song's tempo of 128bpm). This is not synced with a cable, just started manually. The Volca Bass is sent through the Gate on the TR8 to give it a rhythmic pulsing sound. The main melody is played on the Volca Keys, made up of two patterns recorded in 1/4 tempo in Flux mode to get more notes in. To get the melody into the Volca Keys, it was programmed on a Bass Bot and then sent to the Volca Keys via MIDI, with the Volca Keys set to Record mode. All effects are from the Tascam DP24 (compression, EQ and delay)."

In The Koma Studio: Blush Response

Published on Jul 15, 2015 KOMA Elektronik

"Earlier this month, industrial techno artist Blush Response dropped by the KOMA Elektronik studio combining his live eurorack rig with our Komplex sequencer and other gear. Joey Blush has been on the modular scene for a while now working on everything from sound design to industrial/ebm to techno. His last 12" just came out on aufnahme + wiedergabe moving towards an even more dance-oriented sound but still never leaving behind his ability for immense atmosphere and dark melodies.

KORG PROPHECY | HD DEMO | Favorite Patches / Walkthrough Part 2

Published on Jul 14, 2015 Synthesizer Style

"KORG PROPHECY Synth Demo, Part 2 of a 2 Part video series on my favorite patches, and a 'walkthrough' of programming changes. Be sure to watch for a deeper video series on programming soon to follow.

The KORG PROPHECY was among the first "Virtual Analog" synthesizers from the mid to late 90s, and is one of my favorite synths due to it's truly extensive architecture. It remains one of the more complex and unique sounding "Physical Modeling" Synthesizers ever made.

Feel free to 'Like' this video if you found it useful. That is the only tangible recompense I look forward to for my efforts.
Thanks."

QUASIMIDI Technox | 16 Part Multitimbral Synthesizer with Original Box

"Lots of pretty solid basses, rave leads, hooverish sounds, acid squeals, spacey pads and some great drum kits including full sets of TR-808, 909 and 606 hits. There are 512 presets, which for a 1995 synth wasn't bad!

Technox is oriented towards dance musicians. A sequencer is also included which can address up to 16 MIDI parts. Each part has its own level, pan and effects send, and much more. The presets tend to cover early-90s techno but a touch of editing can go a long way into many other genres. There's a lot of good stuff for darker and ambient genres!

The Technox's greatest asset, ultimately, is its 16-part multitimbrality. Channel 10 is fixed to addressing drums, but the other 15 channels can go where you want. There's a ton of good sounds in the Technox, and it is very useable in many electronic music genres."
