DAGGER - monophonic synth from BEEPSTREET

Published on Dec 20, 2015 Alba Ecstasy

Dagger is a new synth from the creator of SUNRIZER (iTunes link).

"When Jaroslaw from BeepStreet send me the email (midnight) with his new creation, I was just about to shoutdown my machine. But a hunch made me to test it. Needless to say I spent 2 more hours playing it! It's unbelivable to work with a VST /AU and to have the strong feeling you work with a Bass Station II, a Pulse 2 or a Microbrute. But I'll let you judge for yourself! Dagger is available on BeepSteet's website with a special price: http://www.beepstreet.com/plugins/dagger"

Soniccouture Ondioline

Published on Dec 18, 2015 Soniccouture

"A short preview of the Soniccouture Ondioline Kontakt instrument.
Featuring Neil Cowley.

http://www.soniccouture.com/en/produc..."

"FROM THE EARLY DAYS OF SYNTHS

There is a group of early analogue monosynths, produced in the 1950s, about which very little information exists.
Clavioline, Ondioline, Univox, Solovox - these are the most well known of this species, and are all pretty similar to each other. All feature a real-time volume controller, operated by the players knee. All are valve-based with their own built-in amp and speaker, and all have a variety of switches to alter the timbre of the sound.
The Ondioline was the original and the most sophisticated in terms of synthesis and features; it was developed as a low-cost Ondes Martenot, which is why it features a similar lateral vibrato keyboard. The sound can be surprisingly realistic when the vibrato and knee lever are used together - organic and sinuous."

Gleetchlab 4: Make glitch music from any kind of file

Gleetchlab 4: Make glitch music from any kind of file from Giorgio Sancristoforo on Vimeo.

"W.I.P. UPDATE #3
Gleetchlab 4 can read any kind of file. .doc .jpg .pdf .mov .indd .txt. Any!!!
The data content of the file can be sampled into any of the six samplers and played.
Some kind of files sounds better than others. Movies and sound are not very interesting, instead .doc .pdf and .indd files sounded glorious.
A whole new world of sounds is hidden in everyday's files. Let's make sound out of emails, docs, graphs, anything!

Gleetchlab 4 will be distributed only and exclusively with my forthcoming LP.
As I often said: my music is my software, my software is my music.

Stay tuned, I want to publish this in 2016, a soon as possible. In the meantime I keep coding new exciting stuff for v4.0
It will be the best Gleetchlab ever! I promise ;)"

Introducing TERRA - New Max For Live Synthesizer

TERRA teaser Published on Nov 26, 2015 kdevices

"TERRA is a powerful and incredibly versatile synthesizer for Ableton Live.
All sounds in this video are made with TERRA.
More details: http://k-devices.com/terra
http://ableton.com/packs/terra"

"TERRA is the definitive choice for sound designers and producers. With its flexible structure, effects, modulators, and sync options this polyphonic synthesizer can produce any kind of sound!

TERRA is a deep but easy to use Max For Live instrument device, so powerful and versatile.

From edgy leads and bass lines, to drones, layered pads, complex rhythmic structures, unusual sequences and experimental sounds; you can do anything with TERRA!

With an arsenal of features, sound designers, producers, and experimental composers can get so many different results!
A world of sounds: that’s Terra!

HOW IT WORKS
TERRA is designed to be your deep and easy to use sonic weapon. Its straight but flexible structure will let you work in total confidence, setting things up to reach many different kind of sounds! Three oscillators, with three waveform manipulation parameters, go thru exclusive ADSRs, pan, and amp. Oscillators can also interact between them via hard/soft sync, advanced frequency modulation, ring modulation, and, in one oscillator, self phase modulation.

Sound goes then to effects. There are three effect slots, a lot of effects for each slot, and a one click router operator that change signal flow according to four presets. This is how the sound is generated and handled.

Then comes the modulation, a lot! Four modulators, multiple kinds of modulations, and exclusive bipolar amount to affect to a lot of TERRA’s parameters! Up to eight parameters can be modulated, by four killer sources, each with exclusive amount, and a terrific feedback on user interface! You can even close the modulators panel, keeping an eye on modulated parameters, working modulators, kind and amount of modulation.

Finally, if you work in unison, a special panel will let you edit pitch ratio and amplitude for each single voice.

It’s so versatile, so powerful, so… Easy !!"

Native Instruments introduces FLESH

Published on Nov 17, 2015 Native Instruments

And two demo tracks from Richard Devine. Press release and images follow below.

"Extended demo of the new "Flesh" Reaktor 6 instrument. "Changing Colors" :-) Very cool innovative performance synth that turns anything you feed it into a electronic symphony

Notes - Only two instances of the Flesh ensemble used. For this demo I used a few kicks, snares, high hats, cymbal crashes, ethnic percussion, and white noise samples at some of the loop parts and at the transitions segments. These where all single shot sounds not loops, that I programmed in time with Flesh. This only accounts for a small amount compared to what Flesh was actually doing, which was about 85% of the demo. I took one snare crash from one of the kits in Flesh and reverse it for one transition. The rest of the sounds are 100% Flesh. There was only one touch of reverb on a Aux send and return with 2CAudio 2C-B2 plug-in."

"Extended demo of the new "Flesh" Reaktor 6 instrument. "Scatterbrain Jungle" :-) Very cool innovative performance synth that turns anything you feed it into a electronic symphony

"November 17, 2015, Berlin – Native Instruments today released FLESH – a new REAKTOR Instrument developed by electronic musician, producer, and inventor Tim Exile. FLESH uses a set of advanced algorithms to turn rhythmic source material into all the elements of a complete production, including basslines, melodies, chords, harmonies, and more. The instrument is aimed at creative producers looking to enhance their live sets or find fresh inspiration for their original productions through a fun, improvisational approach. FLESH is available now at the NI Online Shop for $99 / 99 € / ¥ 11,800 / £89 / $AU149 and runs in REAKTOR 6 or the free REAKTOR 6 PLAYER.

"The concept for FLESH came to me when touring with my custom looping, beatmaking, and improvising instrument that I built in REAKTOR," says Tim Exile. "I was missing a way to make harmonic and melodic material in a live, improvised scenario. I wanted something that would empower me to create expressive and dynamic sounds which fit in perfectly with whatever was going on at the time."

FLESH was designed to be a fun and easy-to-use performance instrument. Its advanced algorithms analyze the transients and spectral profile of sampled source material in the background. This information is then sent to four audio engines as curves and triggers for re-synthesizing the source material. The result is dynamic riffs, grooves, and chords that retain the feel of the original sample. This advanced processing is made possible by the REAKTOR 6 engine.

FLESH comprises four audio engines, plus effects and modulation sections. Each engine has a specific function, from changing the sonic character of the sample itself to transforming it into a monophonic sequence or lead, chords, or sub-bass frequencies. Additionally, the sound generated can be further modified by the effects section and modulation page. The effects section re-creates a highly-modified dub delay while the modulation page allows producers to add subtle to radical motion to their sound.

FLESH features a streamlined control set allowing for radical changes to the rhythmic and tonal output of the instrument. Producers can play rich harmonic progressions, trigger and switch source samples and sound snapshots, then tweak parameters across all engines at once in real time. A clever system of global macro controls allows for consistent and tactile live tweaking on just four main controls – Spectrum, Character, Length, Mod.

FLESH is the first REAKTOR Instrument designed from the ground up to get the most out of the KOMPLETE KONTROL S-Series keyboards. FLESH uses the Light Guide to provide tight visual feedback, highlighting sounds and samples, and sequenced harmonies. Native Map® automaps parameters to the eight control knobs on the KOMPLETE KONTROL keyboards. Users can also save presets – including samples – and recall them in real time.

Tim Exile has seen his career move from performing in small clubs, to big stages around the world and releasing albums on the Planet Mu and Warp imprints. For the last years, Tim has worked closely with Native Instruments to design his own set of 'audio instruments' including THE MOUTH and THE FINGER.

FLESH is available now at the NI Online Shop for $99 / 99 € / ¥ 11,800 / £89 / $AU149

Audulus Breakthrough - The Interlacer & The Audonome Grid Sequencer From Bimini Road

Bimini Road - Audulus Patch - The Interlacer (Preview)

Published on Nov 10, 2015 Bimini Road

http://audulus.com/

Music: 'Greenish Blue' by Jody Golick - made entirely in Audulus"

Some additional info in via Mark Boyd of Bimini Road:

"This is the interlacer I built for Audulus - it will allow you to stitch tens of thousands of control signals into one monophonic signal, and then unpack them elsewhere in any number of sub-patches. You can control multiple fields of lights, function selections with knobs, and midi key input, all through the same monophonic connection. The result is a very low overhead and a vast simplification of signal flow.

This needed to be developed for a project I'm working on called the Audonome, which will be a grid sequencer with user-programmable functions. You can think of it as a developing platform - a blank canvas. It will be able to parse a momentary press, a double press, a held press - all to activate different functions. It will have layers like a Tenori-On does as well. (Pictures of the Audonome with another patch called the binary gear below).

Audulus 3.0 is really going to take off as far as what people realize is possible in Audulus. It's not just a modular synthesizer program - it's an environment for invention and exploration. It strikes a beautiful balance between programming and hardware electronics design."

You can find more of Mark's creations for Audulus here.

Wolfgang Palm Introduces PPG Phonem Plugin

via Wolfgang Palm

"PPG Phonem lets the user create expressive vocal synthesis beyond anything ever heard before. With its advanced routing system every aspect of the voice can be controlled and modulated in any conceivable way. Anything from a quiet whisper to a scream. Use the intuitive text to speech tool to make phonem say whatever you want.
Although the PPG Phonem was originally designed to do just vocal synthesis, it turned out that the system is also capable of producing a wide range of universal synthsizer sounds. So we extended the parameter ranges and made everything accessible to the user, to take advantage of this fact.

'The human voice is a very complex system, which can produce a wide range of sounds. It is however restricted by natural physical dimensions. Phonem does not impose limits, letting you create all the filter configurations and sweeps you could only ever have dreamed of.' - Wolfgang Palm

The heart of the system is a multi resonator filter with 12 individual resonators which can produce vocal sounds as well as all kinds of filter sweeps and effects. This is combined with a very flexible excitation source which can work as a simulation for the human vocal source (the glottis) but also use wavetables and time-corrected-samples (TCS) to drive the filter.

The user can dig into every detail of a synthesized utterance, right down to the individual phonemes. Each phoneme can be adjusted to meet the voice of an individual character or a dialect. Additional there is a pitch-track and a control-track which makes the voice sing with phrasing and expression. A little inspiration and imagination allows the user to create whatever they wish.

PPG Phonem comes with a modulation matrix - allowing 19 sources to control 40 parameters. In this way the vocals or sound effects can be modified rhythmically using LFOs, envelopes or two X/Y control pads. All these modifications can of cause be recorded into the controlling DAW.

For speech or vocal synthesis a versatile excitation generator is provided. But we did not leave it at that and added a wavetable and TCS system, which adds a new dimension to the sound palette. Wavetables can be imported from WaveGenerator or created and edited, TCS can be imported and modified from WaveMapper 2.

Phonem comes already with more than 100 resources and a huge number of presets made by our sounddesigner team. The browser page allows you to list and sort your sounds. Besides that you can exchange single presets with another bank of sounds.
