Prophet 5 analog synthesizer demo , date release 1978 ..

Published on Jul 22, 2016 CLASSIC VINTAGE

"The Prophet-5 is an analog synthesizer that was designed and manufactured by Sequential Circuits between 1978 and 1984. With five voices of polyphony, the Prophet-5 is one of the first polyphonic analog synthesizers with patch memory. About 6,000 units were produced in three revisions by Dave Smith and John Bowen."

Curious how many are left.

Behringer to Form New Synth Division - Additional Synths to Come

We've seen the new Behringer synth videos. It looks like Behringer is going to form a new synth division, which means new synths from Behringer should eventually come. The following was spotted by Soviet Space Child. It is from Uli Behringer.

"The response for this synth has been so overwhelming that we have decided to establish a comprehensive Synthesizer Division. We are currently hiring 30 engineers and product managers in the UK and Canada; feel free to apply.

Please share with us what synths, drum machines, samplers etc. or features you like to have. Be assured we will carefully listen.

Uli"

As for what department made the current new Behringer synth, Soviet Space Child stated: "For the first synth they tapped the engineers from their recently acquired Midas division in the UK. It's essentially a Midas synth but with Behringer branding."

I forget if the second document on the right is a brochure or manual. If anyone knows feel free to leave a comments.

"Only has a couple of minor issues around the faders. Firstly, they're all a bit stiff. They work ok, but can just be a bit stiff sometimes. Second issue is one of the fader caps is broken (see pic). Could be carefully glued and reinstated if keen. Third issue is the previous (and original) owner must have glued the volume fader cap on to the shaft. I can't get it off.

This synth works beautifully (aside from fader issues), has the lawsuit Moog filter and sounds truly gorgeous. However, definitely being sold as is, with no exceptions. People are welcome to inspect, or I'll answer questions promptly. But old vintage synths can be touchy and I don't want any argy-bargy after it leaves my home.

To be honest, this synth is so spunky, it really should have the faders replaced and just needs a couple of new caps to be absolutely spot on."

"All sliders and buttons work but one voice is missing. Overall this synth works great and it's in great shape yet has the normal wear and tear of a 40-year-old synth, so it's sold as is. It comes with the original wooden cover and with 4 chrome legs."
