The Human Sized Synthesizer [Giant KORG MS20 w/ iDS10 Style Controls]

Published on Sep 3, 2016 PsyKispup

via Red Bull Academy

"The Human Sized Synthesizer was developed by Daito Manabe and Rhizomatiks in collaboration with Red Bull Music Academy and KORG. It is a social experiment, embodying the Academy ethos of encouraging creative collaboration. The below schematics help to explain how it was constructed. The Synthesizer is a large format workstation that allows for interaction: There is a step sequencer drum machine with four sound sets, and a keyboard with an arpeggiator and other functions, as well as an X-Y effects unit. The large format synthesizer controls are based on KORG’s MS10/20 classic synthesizers, with MPC-style touch-sensitive trigger pads."

Bode 735 Frequency Shifter & Electronic Specifications

"For auction is an extremely rare Bode 735 Frequency Shifter. This is a device designed by Harold Bode in the 60’s which was produced until the early 80s by his company Bode Sound Co.
This instrument is most well known for being repackaged and included as the Moog 1630 Frequency Shifter of the 1970s Moog Modular systems.

The Bode up for sale has been dated to 1972 and appears to use the same PCBs as the Moog 1630. These were hand assembled by Bode and are extremely uncommon outside university electronics studios.
I acquired this one in 2002 and was told at the time it once belonged to Vladimir Ussachevsky who started the Columbia Princeton Electronic Music Studio in the 1960’s.

CONDITION:

I have been collecting and repairing vintage electronics since the 1990’s, I have over 18 years experience as a restoration technician of high end and rare instruments and this is from my personal collection.
There has been no work performed on this historic device besides replacing the frayed power cable for safety reasons, the old cable will be included in the sale if the winner wants it. I found the identical vintage
style cable at an electronics supplier to keep this as authentic as possible.

There are no unexpected surprises here."

Some interesting pics of the inside and underneath the front panel.

"TWO CR78 drum machines both with battery acid burns on the main board, this burns the circuit traces under the battery and prevents the machine from working. Let this be a lesson to change the rechargeable battery in your CR78!!!!!

One machine is totally complete and assembled with acid burns on the main board where the battery would have been (the leaky battery has since been removed) but other than that looks sharp with minor wear. The face and back are REALLY clean looking and the black tolex has minor wear. IF you have the skills to replace burnt traces and replace a few bad caps or chips (just speculating) you will have a really nice CR-78. I do not know what caps or chips are good NO attempt has been made to repair this by me. The previous owner took it to a lame organ/accordion store in the 90s for repair without success. They removed the leaky battery and handed it back to him with a shoulder shrug."
