DSI PRO 2 SNARE DRUM SYNTHESIS TUTORIAL // Synthesize This! Ep.02

Published on Dec 12, 2016 once upon a synth

"Let's try to synthesize a snare drum sound on the DSI Pro 2 synthesizer. The main idea is to simulate the top head, bottom head and snare separetely. We approximate the top and bottom head with triangle or sine oscillators and the snare with white noise. The top and bottom head oscillators have their frequency modulated by an ADSR envelope generator to emulate the response of membrane being struck by a stick. Finally I end with a simple demonstration of what the Pro 2's snare drum sounds like along with a Korg Volca Beats which I've synced via MIDI."

Part 1 here.

Noise Engineering Basimilus Iteritas demo

Published on Dec 12, 2016 Perfect Circuit Audio

"The Basimilus Iteritas Alter from Noise Engineering is the improved edition of their famous original. It is a complex drum voice created using six oscillators and one noise source for additive synthesis, with various algorithms deciding on how they modulate, interpolate and combine. In Skin mode, it uses a basic additive synthesizer technique that simulates instruments with less complex overtones. The Metal setting starts adding in cross-modulation between the six oscillators, for much denser and complex waveforms. A Liquid mode has been added to the Basimilus Iteritas Alter for more drippy type drum sounds."

NOISECOLLECTIVE Modular Synth Masterclass Workshop with Gino Robair

NOISECOLLECTIVE is having a modular synth masterclass workshop with Gino Robair. The event will be held at the Mothership club in Turin Italy. You can pick up tickets at NOISECOLLECTIVE here. The following are the details on the event, first in Italian, then English further below.

Verranno presi in esame concetti come primo piano / sottofondo, solista / supporto, controllo gestuale, e intenzione / non-intenzione.

Dr. Blankenstein's "Boom-A-Ring" The Electronic Didgeridoo of the Future !

"This one doesn't need too much explaining, the title really says it all. It's an electronic didgeridoo with the illumiringer effect built into it. There is only one in the world, some will say that's a good time... some might not. You can expect nothing less from a one of a kind prototype. Since I am one of the world's worst didgeridoo players, I thought it best to let her go. I am sure there is someone out there that is a great player and deserves to own this sucker more than myself. Before doing so, I wanted to make a proper video of it (I don;t think I'll be making anymore anytime soon. This one was built years ago). The video is longer than I would have liked it to be, but I had a lot of ground to cover. Feel free to skip to the middle when the real demo action starts."
