Modular Minutes: XAOC Devices Kamieniec & Belgrad Chords

Published on Mar 16, 2017 Analogue Zone Showroom / Synths and Studio

"Modular Minutes: XAOC Devices Kamieniec & Belgrad Chords

We decided to make a clash between the analog & the digital: Qu-bit's Chord which is a wavetable VCO is processed by 2 analog monster filters/phasers from Xaoc Devices, while it also gets some stereo DSP treatment at the end by Erica Synths Pico DSP! The rhythms and sequencing plus the audio dynamics are enhanced by other modules from 4ms, Erica Synths & Intellijel Designs plus one side of the new Xaoc utility Samara is used to turn some modulation signals inside out. An extra icing oscillation sweep is coming from the PGH Osc V2! All in all, lot of sounds and a lot of possibilities. We had this patch running for days in the showroom!"

Modular Minutes is a weekly short video series from the Analogue Zone Showroom!"

Moog 700 drums & percussion and Minimoog

"Here is my first ever attempt at hooking up the Moog drum modules to play along with a Moog synth. Again, this could very well be a "world first"...!? Well, definitely a "world first" for a video anyway - there is no video of the "Jazz in the Garden" event that we know of (although photographs do show a cine-camera present) - or audio for that matter, so I suppose it's up to me then....;)"

031517 - Swing/Shuffle Super Saw Synth Jam: Arp Odyssey - Roland Boutique JP-08 - Tama TS305

Published on Mar 16, 2017 R E : S o u n d

"All tracks recorded live, in a single take, with no mixing, editing, or post-production done after the fact.

In a seires of firsts, I decided to make sort of a super saw patch on my JP-08, experiment with the swing feature on the BeatStep Pro, and jam on a less ambient piece with a faster, more upbeat tempo. I tried to keep this one a bit shorter (about 2 1/2 minutes), as it's a little more repetitive than the slower stuff.

The super saw patch is dual layer, slightly detuned on three of the four oscillators, with some cross modulation and delayed LFO to pitch modulation on one layer for movement. I then ran the signal through an Electrix Filter Factory on 12dB/oct LPF. Sequeced by BeatStep Pro via MIDI.

The bass line is handled by the Odyssey, with some LFO to LPF modulation added in for a bit. Sequenced by BeatStep Pro via MIDI.

The drums are coming from a Tama Techstar TS305, triggered from the drum CV gate outs on the BeatStep Pro drum sequence into the TS305's individual trigger inputs.

Mixed on PreSonus StudioLive 16.0.2, with a bit of reverb and delay added, with the mix headphone output sent directly into my GoPro. There is also some of the mic on my phone mixed in because I didn't know until afterward that the headphone line on the mixer wasn't plugged all the way in, which left me with my awesome stereo mix signal being smashed into mono and coming only from the left channel. So, apologies for the poor audio. Video recorded on GoPro Hero 2 and iPhone 7s Plus, edited in iMovie on my iPhone.

Enjoy."

"This unit has been taken care of with love and affection, and it truly shows in the condition. The screen is still bright and strong, the disk drive is still robust and responsive. All buttons and sliders work flawlessly and there are no rack rash, major scratches, dings or dents. To find a unit this old still in such good condition is truly a rarity. Unit comes with owners manual, and a 11 disk sound library with various instruments, fx, strings, pads, drones, and more..."

SN appears to be 0290 J or 0890 J. J is likely for Japan. Note the DENKI SANGYO CO. LTD. AC 100v label on the back. They are still around and work with electrical equipment & material design. Now I'm wondering how many other synths have a DENKI label on the back.

"Up for sale is a (1) vintage ARP Explorer I synthesizer, model 2911. The synth has a special sound due the ARP 2600 vco (type 4027-1) and the 4-pole Moog style ladder filter (type 4034). Everything is working fine. Cosmetically it's in good condition for its age, but there are signs of use. The lettering near the faders / knobs on the front panel is almost gone, there are some scratches on it and little wear and tear (see photo's)."

Note the patch overlays on the front panel in the second pic.
