Roland SH01-A synthesizer jamming with the arpeggiator and sequencer together

Published on Nov 1, 2017 Expanding Sound

"My SH01-A came in recently; I had it preordered after hearing some of the preview demo sounds. I have to be honest, the first time I plugged it in I was not impressed. I found the sounds to be lackluster. The bass seemed to break up. But after a few days of playing with it and making my own patches it really grew on me. Honestly I'm surprised with the choices they used for their patches. That being said, one of my favorite things to do with this synth is use the sequencer and arp together. It really fills out the sound. I picked a fairly sterile but nice patch I made, wrote a quick sequence, and then turned on the arpeggiator and held down some chords to move an extra melody. I moved the keys down an octave but it sounds really nice when the arp moves through some of the same notes as the sequencer. Hope you enjoy! Feel free to subscribe if you enjoy!"

Musico Resynator | Hexsynator

via Wayne Joness Roland Guitar Synth Updates

P.S. You can find a flyer for the RESYNATOR here.

"A few years ago I was contacted by Alison Tavel regarding the Resynator, a Pitch and Envelope tracking synthesizer her father Don Tavel had invented in the 1980s.

The Resynator had quite a pedigree from the start, Don Tavel had a Masters degree in Music from the Indiana University Center for Electronic and Computer Music. The difficult engineering design work was done by the legendary Mike Beigel, founder of Musitronics.

Where things get really interesting for the vintage Roland guitar synth player, though, is with the Hexsynator, which looks to be a fully polyphonic six-voice extension of the original unit, complete with a cool vintage Roland 24-pin guitar input!

Read more about this forgotten synth, and support Alison Tavel and her Go Fund Me campaign!"

Check out the bottom of it.

"This was a strange storage unit auction find in the midwest. I don't know the story with the clear body, but I've never seen another one like it.

The roadcase it comes in is worn on the outside, but the foam inside is still good.

Here's what's been done to it:

~ All sliders were removed, cleaned, lubricated and reinstalled
~ All remaining controls were cleaned
~ The keyboard was completely disassembled, cleaned, rebushed, and all contacts were cleaned and adjusted
~ All tantalum power decoupling caps were replaced with electrolytic capacitors
~ The power supply board was re-capped and calibrated
~ The 4075 filter module was removed, recapped, and modified for increased cutoff frequency response
~ The original multicolored (now badly discolored) set of slider caps were replaced with a new, all white set. I'll include the original slider caps for anyone interested.
~ Full calibration of all functions."
