North Coast Synthesis - MSK 007 Leapfrog VCF

Published on Mar 20, 2018 DivKidVideo

"Here's the totally unique MSK007 Leapfrog VCF (voltage controlled filter) from North Coast Synthesis. It's a "near elliptic musical low pass filter". I can't think of any other elliptic filter in the format or other formats but I've linked to some information below. It's basically a very very steep cut off that gives a unique character, saturation, resonance due to this unique curve that isn't from something we're used to. To my ear it's got a rubbery, vocal like character and it takes to modulation really well. Be great to get your take on this in the comments, thanks for watching and reading if you've got this far! :)"

See this post for details on the MSK 007.

Elektron Digitakt vs Avalon Bassline minimal dub style jam

Published on Mar 20, 2018 ollilaboratories

"If you like my stuff please support me on http://music.ollilab.com/ and https://www.patreon.com/theBURG

Dont ask me about genres, I really have no clue but I think this one is sort of dubby'ish ? :D

I am working on getting some more minimal style tracks put together as I am trying to get a gig lined up in europe soon (may). It needs to have minimal gear, preferably with a minimal dubby sound and work on a dance floor and have that nice bubbly flow to it.

For this the Avalon Bassline and Elektron Digitakt is a magic fit.. ! Perfect footprint and a shedload of possibilities... i can just keep on going forever :)

Gear used, digitakt and the avalon bassline
FX, strymon bluesky and red panda particle

Post processing, EQ and compressor + limited to tighten things up a bit.

BooM !"

"The sh3-a does indeed have the infamous bob moog designed 24db ladder filter. It creates a strange juxtaposition as the roland oscillators are kind of bare and gritty but run through the milky moog masterpiece it's tamed in a way that I find very pleasing. This is a monophonic, single oscillator synth but with its unique almost organ like devide down architecture you can subdivide the oscillator to have different "feet" and wave shapes!!! So this particular example of the sh3-a has seen much love over the years so don't expect a museum ready piece. It's been. Played and enjoyed for years and I k ow it's got many more years left in her. A few dings, scratches and rust spots here and there but all sounds and parameters function as they should including the famous sample and hold hence the S H... that said, a few pots and sliders can be a bit noisy and changing wave shapes per get can be a bit fiddly. Takes a few wigglea from time to time.

While selecting a sec shape on the subdivided feet you have to kind of fiddle about with the knobs for it to behave. Other than that and the aforementioned dings and what nots, she's good to go!!! Watch a few you tube vids and start to imagine where this beast with fit to plump and warm your kit!! "

This one is apparently in Venezuala.

"This is the rare Korg 900PS analog Preset Synthesizer. There seems to be some confusion about the naming (sometimes called PS900), especially since the face plate says "Synthesizer Korg Preset." The 900PS is quite a basic but very interesting monosynth. The 900PS definitely 'borrowed' some ideas from the Pro-Soloist. Instant selection of 29 different tone colors. From the sweet sound of a violin to the chugging of a steam locomotive. Sensitive soft-touch switches and plentiful controls provide a wide variety of effects including vibrato, repeat, even the harmonics you need for a Hammond organ tone. The 900PS has 29 presets: Timpani, Electric Bass, Synthe Bass, Piano, Harpsichord, Shamisen, Banjo, Mandolin, Xylophone, Tuba, Bassoon, Horn, Cello, Trombone, Saxophone, Voice, Clarinet, Accordion, Trumpet, Funky Trumpet, Synthe Trumpet, Oboe, Violin, Recorder, White Noise, Scale Noise, Harmonics I, Harmonics II, Harmonics III."
