Norns FM7 Soundscape

Published on Oct 11, 2018 junklight

"One of the brilliant aspects of owning a Norns is that the rest of them are owned by wonderful creative people making new toys for you to play with.

Today someone added a synth based on the Supercollider Fm7 emulation. (and in case you hadn't noticed I _love_ FM!) it sounds gorgeous and as I was sitting tinkering with it one thing led to another and I recorded this - basically Norns/FM7 and two Augustus Loops from Expert Sleepers! Sometimes simple is good!"

Spectral Audio - Syntrack 1U Rack Synth

"Very hard to find unit , with a great sound

The Syntrack represents an ideal combination of analogue and digital technology: the legendary MOOG filter sound supplemented by a Wave Table oscillator. The Wave Table oscillator offers a substantially greater range of sounds than the customary analogue oscillators, together with absolute tuning stability. The typical output signals of analogue oscillators (saw-tooth, square wave, ...) can, of course, also be generated.

Although analogue technology is expensive today, we have given the "old" technology preference over the new. The distorter, which is also produced in analogue technology, gives the sound the necessary "bite". Any other signal which is looped in at the external audio input can also be filtered and distorted.

The Syntrack´s complete MIDI control system allows you to control every parameter via your sequencer software. This means you can increase the number of programmes for the instrument by computer and alter parameters in real time.

The Syntrack combines a Digital Wavetable Oscillator with an Analogue Filter (Cascade Filter). The Filter Output passes through the Analogue Distorter which shapes your Sound to be powerful and rough. The Syntrack offers 99 Programs and easy programming because each Parameter has a Pot. Every Operation on the Knobs will cause a Controller to be send to MIDI Out. And each Parameter listens to its Controller on MIDI In. The Lamps above the Knobs displays a MIDI controller remote of the pots or a setting of this parameter by the program. The Wavetable can be expanded by a second chip. The Syntrack also offers an external audio input."

Moog Prodigy vintage synthesizer

"Vintage Moog Prodigy in excellent working condition. Has exactly two flaws, neither of which ever bothered me enough to take it in for repairs:

1. At some point, the modulation rate knob got snapped off. It’s still entirely possible to change the rate; you just have to twist the part that’s still there. (See the picture.)

2. The C key at the far right of the keyboard is stuck—it won’t go down. I think the wooden chassis must have swollen enough over the years to be pressing against it too tightly, or maybe the keybed ended up just a millimeter too far to the right in a prior shipment or repair.

Otherwise it’s just an excellent unit. The knobs and switches do what they’re supposed to and the oscillators are nice and stable."

Novation SL MKIII Studio Performance -CALC- “Pez River”

Published on Oct 11, 2018 -CALC-

"Here's a little ditty composed and performed on the powerful Novation SL MKIII sequencer/Controller keyboard.
The SL is controlling an ARP 2600, Juno 106, Korg Poly61 M (running through a DIY phaser Mmmmm), SH101 + 0Coast and Yamaha Reface CP alongside the Elektron Octatrack and OTO Boum. Leploop is also connected to clock from the SL MKIII.

Theres 3 drum tracks and a couple of nice Spitfire audio Labs (free plug-ins) providing Strings and Charanga guitar sounds.

It a true hybrid Hardware/Computer combo, Ableton Live is clocking everything through the SL and all the musical elements (bar Ableton's Strings and Charanga guitar parts) are being sequenced by the SL MKIII directly.
My favourite bit is towards the Middle when the Peak has a nice rhythmic Bass line on a monster patch. I called the patch Pez River for some reason and so that's the name of the track.

I have to say that I have fallen completely in love with the SL MKIII workflow, the ability to sequence everything directly from a flagship keyboard is incredible and genuinely music feels so much easier to write now somehow!"

Buchla Easel + TB03 + TR09 Glitched out by Octatrack

Published on Oct 11, 2018 Honeysmack

"Buchla Easel, TB03 and TR09 live sampled and all glitched out and randomized by the Octatrack.

Single take no post, no edits. All effects are from the Octatrack, with some reverb from the TB03.

Modular synth not in use.

ER9Solina - Chiptune Syntie Song - 10/2018

Published on Oct 11, 2018 Stereoping

"No special piece of gear demo-ed this time. Just a composition and arrangement excercise in FL Studio which imho finally came out quite nice.

Drums from a vintage midified Vermona ER-9 Drumbox, theme played by Dreadbox Nxy. Solina sound (well, kind of) from MI Ambika through the Boehm Phasing Rotor bucked brigade chorus. Bass from Waldorf Pulse. Then the Micromonsta bringing in some chiptune action with 32th notes defining the harmonic scales. Finally the Korg Polysix contributing some rock organ riffs. At the end the DEP-5's (feeded with Ambika strings) reverb time is cranked to 'endless' as well as the Nyx's reverb time - both add up in a beautiful final drone.

Video shows life footage, piano-roll shoots and some supermario screencast footage corresponding to the current musical mood. Hope you like it :-)"
