Further Explorations // NDLR + Medusa + Magneto + Clouds

Published on Dec 7, 2018 Genshi Media Group

"::| TO HEAR THE FULL RANGE OF FREQUENCIES, A GOOD PAIR OF HEADPHONES ARE HIGHLY RECOMMENDED |::

This didn't turn out quite how I had hoped, and I almost didn't upload it, but then I thought "why not" as I want to be able to show all of my little noodlings, bad or good. This is further ambient explorations with the Polyend/Dreadbox Medusa Hybrid synth as sequenced by the Conductive Labs NDLR (which is sequencing each Oscillator of the Medusa on their own MIDI Channels.) The Medusa is then going into the Strymon Magneto 4-Head dTape Echo and the Mutable Instruments Clouds Eurorack modules. The Retro Mechanical Labs Guitar Pedal Interface module is handling the Eurorack to Instrument Level audio coming out."

Calibrating a Roland Juno-106 or HS-60 Synthesizer

Instructions on how to calibrate a Roland Juno-106 or HS-60 have been posted on the Syntaur site here.

"This procedure will walk you through the process of calibrating (tuning) a Roland Juno-106 (or HS-60) synthesizer. It requires a voltmeter, a frequency counter or tuner, and an oscilloscope. It also requires working on the keyboard with the power on and the power supply exposed, so this calibration should not be attempted unless you are confident in your abilities to work safely, and to use the necessary equipment.
Note that any time you replace a voice chip on your synthesizer, you will need to recalibrate at least that voice.

Make sure the keyboard has been powered on for at least 10 minutes to warm up prior to any calibrations, and perform the calibration steps in the order they are listed here."

Roland TR-909 Rhythm Composer

Note this is listing is from STG.

"I got this TR-909 in mid-2009, in a trade with a guy named Boris Domalain who made tracks, had a small label, and threw parties in the Paris catacombs. He even sent with the drum machine a coffee table book with photos from these parties.

It totally works. Every bit of it. From under the streets of Paris to a cornfield in Madison County IA to several visits to a clothing-optional campground in central Wisconsin, this thing has had a life.

While living with me, it's been used live dozens of times and wound up on vinyl (Fast Cash) and a wood-boxed 8-CD tribute to Pete Namlook.

However, it's been bored for a couple of years and needs to be pressed back into service. It and its brother, the TR-808, became too valuable to take to gigs the way that I did at first. I just don't do enough "studio recordings" to justify keeping it around any more.

I recapped the power supply when it came in, and I switched the AC over to 110V operation and installed a standard IEC connector. However, the pots are all a teeny bit scratchy, but not enough to justify a full job IMHO. It's ready to work as-is."
