Korg Poly-800 - Stringy padded things (some more patches/presets)

Published on Mar 24, 2019 DreamsOfWires

"I was briefly in possession of another Korg Poly-800 this month, which I only had time to use once, but I created a bunch of mostly string-type sounds, as I was originally aiming to re-record a couple of old uploads (links below):

https://youtu.be/lgMzxnj0ajM

The Poly-800 was a strange synthesizer; whilst being an 8-voice polyphonic synth (or 4 voices with 2 oscillators per voice) it only had one analog filter shared across all voices, which was limiting, but could produce some interesting musical results.

I'm not sure how much longer I can continue to create content for this channel due to financial circumstances. I've invested a lot of money into the equipment, camera gear, and even a computer to make it possible, for which I've got into a lot of debt. I enjoy doing it, but it has to be financially viable, and though I create these videos for free, my ambition was to make it pay for itself somehow, at least partially, via music sales, Patreon, or manufacturer sponsorship, but after almost 10 years that hasn't happened and my views and subscription rate is dwindling. In the meantime, if you can help share knowledge of my channel and music to others it would be greatly appreciated. As always though, thank you so much for your comments and encouragement over these past years - I cannot stress enough how much it has meant to me.

Geek stuff: recorded using AUM on an iPad, Audio Damage EOS2 reverb, via an iConnectAUDIO4 interface. Filmed on a LUMIX GH4 and GX7."

Plankton Electronics SPICE *prototype sounds & patches*

"I don't even really tell you what SPICE is, check it out here - http://bit.ly/spicekick - this is just a prototype unit I borrowed to check out the unit and support the Kickstarter. Selfishly (booooo selfish me) I'd love one of the final units in my own set up so by spreading the word and sharing this video I hope the campaign is successful so everyone has the chance to get hold of this killer little box. 3 filters, envelope follower, NuTube VCA and multi distortion, tonnes of CV control, feedback section. I like! Very nice!

Oakley ASV twins

Published on Mar 24, 2019 Andrew Scheidler

"Noodling around with two ASV from Oakley. There are no effects at all, just the two units in drone mode. These have a VCF just like the Oberheim SEM; the rest is similar to the SEM but with expanded modulation possibilities."

MARSH UDS - RARE VINTAGE SOVIET ANALOG DRUM SYNTHESIZER

"MARSH UDS". It is a powerfull 6 channel analog drum synthesizer, produced in the USSR in 1980s. It has 6 identical channels (which can be used & edited freely). On every channel you can change: trigger signal sensitivity, base tone pitch, HF or LF, glissando, noise/tone ballance, noise decay, resonance, channel's volume. Each channel has trigger Input on a standart 1/4 mono Jack for 6 pads. It can be triggered from any drum pads like classic Simmons or modern Roland\Yamaha or any audio source - line outs of the drum machine or soundcard or CV Gate etc. The module has two stereo Outputs (1/4 Jack) ballanced & unballanced and one mono Headphone Output (1/4 Jack). This is an armoured antitank piece of gear and the sound it produces is very unique! Can synthesize huge pallete of sounds - from modern punchy BD & SD to classic 808 or 909 subs or claps e.t.c..

ROLAND P/V Synth SPV-355 - Pitch-to-Voltage Synthesizer

Note: Auction links are affiliate links for which the site may be compensated.

via this auction

"The SPV-355 is a non keyboard synthesizer using a superior pitch to voltage converter for never-before control stability and accuracy. Now a guitarist or wind instrument player, or even a vocalist can use their instrument to control a synthesizer. The SPV-355 can also be used as a synthesizer expander module for another analog synthesizer.

FEATURES

• Four sound sources can be freely mixed: Two VCO's, suboscillator, and the direct (original) sound.

• VCO-2 can be set tor two independent tunings and switched back and forth remotely with a foot switch.

• The enevelope follower can be used to produce many delicate nuances of sound.

• Input and output connections are easy because the input and output levels are the same.

• Most of the important functions can be remote controlled, a feature very important in live performance.

• Provision for external CV (1V/oct) and gate pulse inputs for control of the SPV-355 from an external source such as a sequencer or even a synthesizer keyboard controller."

Analogue monophonic beast - The Telemark V2 SN 7024

Note: Auction links are affiliate links for which the site may be compensated.

via this auction

"If your looking for the great analogue sound of Tom Omberheim's SEM modules - look no further..!

Mint condition analogy monophonic synthesizer from Tom Carpenter's Analogue Solutions. Looks, features and sound resemble the good ol' Oberheim SEM module. It sounds great, warm, round, living and just beautiful. The Telemark is not to be seen as a pure SEM clone as its features and functions go beyond the original. Besides the two VCOs with modulation and the classic 12dB SEM multimode filter you´ll find an additional LFO, noise generator and extended modulation possibilities. The Telemark´s filter can self-oscillate! Midi and cv patch points make integration with a midi setup, your modular system and DAW easy. Includes Walnut tree ears - Has always stood in a smoke free studio - Barely used!"
