New Happy Nerding Dual xFader
Published on Sep 3, 2019 Happy Nerding
via Happy Nerding
"Dual crossfader is a compact 4HP voltage controlled crossfader suitable for both audio and CVs. Smaller knobs set manual crossfade between A-B, and bigger knobs are CV attenuverters. LEDs show the adjusted positive and negative CV sides for easy monitoring.
Upper inputs (section 1) are normalled to lower inputs (section 2). Thus the same signal pair A&B can be differently crossfaded in both sections.
The switch clones section’s 1 controls to the section 2, which is useful to make stereo Dry/Wet adjustment or stereo VCA.
So this module can be used as:
– two independent crossfades
– two independent VCAs
– stereo crossfade or Dry/Wet control
– stereo VCA
– panner
Four jumpers on the back can give optional 5x amplification for each A or B input. Sot it is easy to crossfade modular level with linear level from pedals.
Output 1 is mixed with output 2 if left unconnected.
MSRP: 140 USD or 125 Euro"
Catalyst Audio 156v Control Voltage Porcessor - Buchla System 100 Eurorack Module
via this auction
"The model 156v was likely the first "CV manipulation" tool ever available to modular synthesists. In the original 100 series environment, the 156 was used as a front end to nearly every other module with a CV input. The majority of CV inputs throughout the 100 series do not have associated attenuators or offsets built into the modules, and thus they relied on the 156 to scale, offset, and attenuate the voltages traveling around the system. The 156V consists of 2 independent “voltage processors” Each with a control to mix the two inputs, add a voltage offset (positive only), and then a control to mix between the external CV to be processed and the internal offset. In addition, the "B" channel has an inverting input. The 156V is as close a replica to the original 156 as possible, and is built entirely of discrete analog components.
The Model 156V (Like all 100 Series Modules) is based off of designs originally pioneered by Don Buchla while working with the San Francisco Tape Music Center."
This is the first post to feature the 156V.

"Essentially, this synth is cosmetically a 9.5/10 and functionally an 8/10.
When I received this synth back in 2011, it badly suffered the red glue plague. It did not damage the internals, and I replaced the entire keybed with a brand new one directly from Roland, one of their last ever in stock.
So, the keybed itself functions perfectly. However, the ribbon cable is not perfect and I have clamped it down tonapply more pressure to the contact. Sometimes this resolves the problem, sometimes you have to go in and adjust it again. What happens, when it isn’t behaving correctly, is that some keys will distort, or not play, when in combination with other certain keys. Playing through midi it sounds just fine. But sometimes, playing the keyboard will not play 100%. Apart from this, I recently gave all the sliders and buttons a cleaning with contact cleaner, and given it a good cleaning inside to keep it free from dust.
However, cleaning the sliders didn’t fully resolve parameter jump of 2-3 of the slider controls. It may just mean diving back in and cleaning those sliders another time, worst case scenario is changing out the slider pots..."

"This bad boy uses formant synthesis on top of a expanded DX7 algorihmynmyn. It can even model all the DX7 sounds exactly, but has so much more depth when you add in the stupid amount of processing.
The clarity is unreal; I played this on my Egg Munro's 150 and got a slight fizzing sensation behind my chap."
