Sounds of the Roland JUPITER-Xm Synthesizer

Published on Jan 23, 2020 RolandChannel

"Since the release of the JUPITER-4 in 1978, the name JUPITER has marked the pinnacle of Roland sound and playability. Roland synthesizers with the JUPITER name carry our most advanced sound technologies, are supremely playable, and are built from premium materials.

JUPITER-Xm combines classic Roland design and premium build quality with a powerful new synth engine. It faithfully recreates sought-after instruments from our long history of genre-defining sounds. And with multiple layers, loads of polyphony, and deep hands-on control, you can craft huge, spacious sounds that have as much sparkle as they have warmth and punch.

In this video, David Åhlund introduces the Roland JUPITER-Xm with an overview of its design, a demonstration of the Model Banks that include JUNO-106, JUPITER-8, JX-8P, a polyphonic SH-101, XV-5080, RD piano and more. There is also a demonstration of the new i-Arpeggio, designed to provide immediate inspiration with drums, bass and more at the press of a chord. David also demonstrates some of the effects on board with over 90 to choose from.

This video also takes a look at the new ZEN-Core Synthesis System which embodies nearly five decades of historical know-how gained through the development of our most famous analog, digital, and virtual analog synthesizers."

The Galaxy Electric - Cosmic Tape Music - Improvised Modular Performance - Air Chrysalis

Published on Jan 23, 2020 The Galaxy Electric

"Thanks for listening! Come on a musical voyage with us where we'll send you a new song every day, a cosmic story, and a chance to earn space treasure: https://thegalaxyelectric.lpages.co/5...

This improv's theme was done in honor of Podular Modcast's patch challenge : Air Chrysalis

For those not familiar, this is a podcast dedicated to covering the global modular synthesizer scene. It is hosted by Tim Held.

Every week he encourages the guests to create a patch inspired by an adjective and noun of his choosing. They get a few minutes and then they have to perform their patch on the spot.

In his episode 88 on Monday January 13, 2020 he turned it around on his audience and gave his listeners the words Air Chrysalis. We took the challenge and went live on Facebook and Instagram and started the patch from scratch.

Thank you Tim for creating such a fun way to challenge our patching skills.

Equipment Used:
Mellotron 4000D Mini
Roland RE-20 Space Echo Pedal
Pigtronix Infinity Looper
Buchla Clones: 266r Source of Uncertainty, 291r Dual Voltage Controlled Filter, 280r Quad Function Generator, 292c Quad Lopass Gate

Chaining Sequences in VCV Rack

Published on Jan 23, 2020 Omri Cohen

"There's a lot of fun in combining different sequences into one long sequence, especially if this sequence is slightly changing and very organic. In this video, we will use sequential switches to chain a few sequences and create more complex sequences.

"Loading SYSEX files using MIDI-OX is a super easy way to replace all or some of the patches on your synthesizer. These are a few sounds from https://kawaius.com/technical-support....

The 3 key on this synth doesn't work so I wasn't able to select those patches."

Casio CZ-3000 w/CZ Touch iOS (80's Synth)

Published on Jan 23, 2020 Todd Smith Music

"Jumping back into the Casio CZ-3000 today we explore a 80's style synthesizer patch.

Released in the mid-1980s but still sounds amazing today. I just got my Casio CZ-3000 back into my setup. I needed 2 long midi wires to get the Casio CZ 3000 connected correctly into my system and I got those wires just yesterday. This video explores the second patch I made on the CZ-3000 using the CZ Touch iOS app.

All audio is multi tracked via Auria Pro iOS and I add Fab Filter Timeless 2 for delay effect. I'll be doing more videos on CZ Touch/CZ-3000 in the future so keep a ear out !"

"The JX-3P is a great sounding analog polysynth descended from the Juno family of synthesizers. It is a cheaper alternative due to the lack of knob per function controls. However, you can still program with the buttons and data slider and its actually a fairly easy process! As far as the sound goes, it has the same buzzy and sharp sound of the Juno synths but includes a second oscillator. This allows for detuning of the DCOs and cross modulation. It also includes more LFO waveforms and still has built in chorus like the Junos.

This synthesizer is in good working condition but has definitely seen some use. It was recently serviced and had a couple sliders replaced along with two LEDs in the buttons. The lights that were put in are yellow rather than the standard red. Please see the detailed photos for reference to condition."

Korg 707 Performing Synthesizer w/ Original Box

"This is a Korg 707 performance synthesizer, essentially a Korg DS-8 without effects. It's a fun 4 operator FM synth with 49 velocity sensitive keys and aftertouch. What sets it apart from other FM synths is it's performance control sliders and friendlier programming interface.

It can also be strapped as a keytar, if you want to channel your inner Herbie Hancock.

This unit is tested and 100% fully functional. All sliders, buttons, jacks, and keys work flawlessly. The LCD backlight is still very bright."

"this weird beast is basically 4 FM synths (fully editable !) in one (4*9 voices) + analog chorus and phasing effects. This makes it very analog sounding, nice pads and organs.

each section is programmable with the 4 knobs (volumes + data entry in edit mode) so quite easy to get in touch with

very much possibities and quite punchy sounds, good signal quality,

lots of MIDI connections and 8 outputs !

display is quite dark, all other functions are good !

very rare in this good working condition !

230V model not for US! only with converter"

MTI 16R Auto Orchestra 1980s Drum Machine / Synth

"These are very rare but unfortunately this one is in rough shape cosmetically & functionally. First off, it works when it wants too. The unit is intermittent & takes a little bit of tinkering with each function to get it to work properly. I would say that it is %50 functional as it’s always a gamble to get something out of it though. It will need to be serviced to be a reliable fully functioning unit."
