"Up for us a very unique and very rare Hand Made in American MTI Auto Orchestra from the late 70s. It’s an all Analog VCO first generation full band auto accompaniment machine with built in simi programmable Drum Machine, Expression Pedal controlled String Machine and Foot Pedal controlled Bass Synth. It’s in very good condition with normal wear. Everything works as it should and it sounds so good that your jaw will drop!
The Drum Machine sounds very similar to a Roland CR 78 mixed with a Roland CR8000. Programming it is very similar to those machines as well with a plethora of push button rhythm variation and fill options. You can also mute and and unmute individual kit pieces for build ups and break downs.
The String Machine sounds very lush and reminiscent of a ARP Solina. It’s controlled by the expression pedal and you have different chord options to choose from with your foot! You also have the option to do monophonic string Melodies controlled by the foot pedal keyboard. You also have the option to have different rhythm variations of the strings the perfectly sync to the drum beat. How cool is that!
The Bass Synth sounds reminiscent of a Roland TB 303 mixed with a Moog Taurus. That is controlled by the foot pedal keyboard and like the string machine section has the option for it to sync to the drum beat or played live. It will also follow along with the expression pedal chord of your choice when the in that mode.
Each section has a volume control and the string and bass section have limited by useful tone shaping controls.
This thing is the real deal and a serious drum machine or synth collectors dream machine. Very few of these machines were made and I have never seen one in this good of condition with the accompanying foot pedals. It’s the original “Band In A Box” and you can do complete sets just with this. Perfect for Indie, Lofi, Dreampop, Experimental, Techno or Folk musicians who want to add the magic of this machine to their music."
"MTI Auto-Orchestra from the 1970s W/ Factory Stand, MIDI, and top lid. Additionally this unit was professionally modified to use the bass and strings as their own dedicated synth via midi. I believe this might be the only unit out there that has this capability. It is an excellent mod because the strings on this unit sound like an Arp Solina! The bass synth is also killer as well. It idles quietly and is in good cosmetic shape for its age."

AND the amp I'm using for this sample has a full range speaker - not a guitar speaker. If you hook it up to a regular guitar amp - well that won't do. This system was designed for running through a PA or dedicated amp with a full range speaker."
"OK - here's a vintage 1970's drum machine with toms, cymbal, snare and cowbell - lots of presets there from waltz tempo to funky time - variable beat. It comes with a keyboard pedal for organ and piano - and it appears that pedal activates the bass too. There's a lot of things to play with on this and they all work - every button and knob. -- It's missing one button cover on the pedal - a piano note - but it works. -- The volume pedal works but someone has screwed on a piece of wood at the end of it - so it defaults to full volume - when tilted back the volume decreases but not quite all the way to mute - doesn't matter because the start / stop button is on the pedal too and finishes any fade out."
"MTI 16R Auto Orchestra drum machine w foot pedal and foot keyboard. This item has been thoroughly cleaned and tested. Full set of rhythms, settings, expansion card, killer bass & filter and accompaniment voices work great, intermittent clicks with tom sounds, however. Improved with contact cleaning but still occasional. The LED cursor flashes with tempo, but number wavers and does not reflect bpm (I believe this applies to both model MTIs). Foot Keyboard works perfectly. Foot pedal in poor condition, will start/stop rhythms and diminish chords only. All outputs work correctly. This unit has been racked in an enclosed cabinet, free from dust, etc. Solid life left in this rare drum machine!"

"This piece of gear is truly one of the coolest "one man band" machines ever created! Wayy ahead of its time. The main control box is in excellent shape ,as is the volume pedal .* Also included are the stands. The Bass pedals are from an older unit which has the steel inserts preventing from pedals from breaking. All the major main keys work perfectly ,but some of the sharp note pedals need cleaning -as I never used them. This item will pay for itself for the price im asking ,after 3 jobs playing out I am retiring and no longer have a use for it .this is a steal for the asking price .thanks for looking !"

This is the very rare MTI Auto Orchestra AO-1 drum machine / bass synth / strings / chords accompaniment unit + bass pedals and cover for the front of the box.
This thing is pretty insane. The Drum machine sound is off the hook!
The MTI AO-1 has many different drum presets and each preset button has 2 variations. Each drum voice has its own cancel button (!) so you can choose whatever elements of the beat you want (say just kick drum, kick + snare, cancel the cymbal, cancel conga, etc.) so the combinations are pretty much endless.
Very powerful bass sound. reminiscent of the TB 303. Strings section and chords section.
When no drum preset is chosen, you can play the bass and strings manually using the pedals. When a preset is chosen, the pedals will determine the chord.
The volume knobs of the different sections can be pulled for constant signal. When these knobs are pulled, they control the volume for its assigned section."

"This amazing machine is complete and fully serviced. It had been sold to a famous french musician by Soundgas, a couple month ago and is now on consignment. They converted it to 220V and did everything needed to be done. It's a crazy machine you must own to fulfill your one man band dream. Will be packed in a bunker."
"These are very rare but unfortunately this one is in rough shape cosmetically & functionally. First off, it works when it wants too. The unit is intermittent & takes a little bit of tinkering with each function to get it to work properly. I would say that it is %50 functional as it’s always a gamble to get something out of it though. It will need to be serviced to be a reliable fully functioning unit."
