Polyend Tracker: First Impressions of the Tracker Workflow

"The Polyend Tracker brings the Tracker sequencer workflow from the computer to this custom piece of hardware. If you are used to XOX or other styles of sequencers the Tracker with its top to bottom scrolling and hex code messages might seem confusing. The Polyend Tracker features a fill mode that adds randomized values into a sequence within a controllable range to get things going faster.

Since Trackers are sample focused the Polyend Tracker has a built in radio for you to sample from if you are looking for inspiration. It also features a performance mode with lots of effects that can be switched around in realtime to change things up. In addition to playing back internal samples the Tracker can be used as midi sequencer for your external synths.

"Session with Korg MS20, Roland 101 (System 100), Mod. Roland TR77 (All Drumsounds), Gibson LesPaul, Hiwatt DR103, Recorded on MCI 16 Track.

The tr77 runs with a tubbutec unipulse midi interface. I changed a lot of resistors and capacitors on this machine and put some potentiometer on it for the volume of the drum sounds and the release time of cymbals, hihat, maracas, tambourines etc."

"The Monopoly is an analogue beast and a personal favourite of ours. Released in the early 80's It is both monophonic and polyphonic. It has 4 VCO's which can be shared in 4-voice Polyphonic mode, or linked in unison for a huge monophonic lead. The synth has many more great features which make it a very popular and sort after synth. The real time control also make it an excellent machine to use live."
