Novation Peak || Uplifter

video upload by Mike Lewis

"A resonant pad played with a lower cutoff filter. Applied some external shimmer and high frequency gain with my computer. Also, shamelessly stole a chord progression from a favorite band :)

The Orca Synth - A photocell light controlled digital synthesizer, played like a Theremin

video upload by LunaKraft Instruments

LunaKraft also made The Guitron I. Unfortunately the video there is no longer available, but you will find some pics.

"Digital music synthesizer created in the 'circuit bent' style, uses two photocell light sensors to create synth notes in any selectable key.

Each photocell controls notes for one voice of the synthesizer, each voice can be modified separately.
1. Octave control: selects 1-4 octaves for each voice.
2. Modulation effect control.
3. Control note length of each voice.
4. Waveforms: Square, Sine, Triangle, Ramp, Noise.
5. *Select 12 different keys.
6. A chorus effect.
7. Note pulse effect.

Some of the sounds remind me of the sonar sounds made by whales, hence the name Orca Synth."

"This is in mint condition with all of the original packaging.

From the Perfect Circuit listing: 'The LD-2 runs on a DC9V negativecenter or a 9V battery. It features 2 VCOs routed into a VCF and Delay. The VCO accepts 3 modulation sources: NOISE GENERATOR, quad LFO, and LFO. VCF accepts CV from LFO, morphing it into a wave filter. There's also an integrated delay with a bypass switch, as well as a power switch and DC Jack on the back pannel.'"

Harmonic halls of noise - Prismatic Spray, norns “pixels”, 1010music lemondrop and TX-6

video upload by Arman Bohn

"The Prismatic Spray provides most of the sonic textures here. The notes it plays are controlled by a single pixel grooving along on the screen on the norns. The sound is then chopped up by the lemondrop and played back at various octaves. The Norns also provides five channels of sine wave drones. Everything is mixed in the TX-6.

You can pick up the Prismatic spray on my tindie shop:

Studio Electronics Omega 8 sound creation

video upload by Ken Flux Pierce Fluxwithit

"Studio electronics Omega 8 is an 8 voice analog synth made with beautiful through hole hand built boards. This model has the stock Minimoog style ladder filters as well as the Oberheim SEM style state variable filters installed (sorry no CS80 , ARP, TB or Jupiter filters in here yet). It is a great joy to program and one of the last of the classic era of analog poly synths that can still be obtained today."

Paul T Schreiber of Synthtech / MOTM Retires From The Synth Business

"After 27 years, I have retired from the synthesizer business. I still have a #day_job which will last until Dec 1st. The last set of 16 modules shipped to Patchwerks in Seattle, including the last E520 Hyperions.

Is there a chance someone will buy my IP and continue the product like? I keep hoping. Thanks to everyone who were friends and customers."

---

The man behind MOTM and Synthtech/Synthesis Technology retires. Paul Schrieber was making modular synths in the MOTM 5U format before eurorack took off. He essentiall started his own format, 5U in height like Moog's MU 5U but different. See this old post for a pic of different modular formats. He made his modules available in both DIY and finished form. You all should be familiar with MOTM and Synthech if you are regulars of the site. If not, see the MOTM and Synthech labels for posts over the years.

Since the launch of this version of MATRIXSYNTH back in 2005, there have been a total of 831 MOTM posts, and roughly 367 Synthtech posts, including this one. I say roughly as there was another Synthtech that made the Chroma Cult - Rhodes Chroma MIDI Interface, that shares the Synthtech label I used to get the count. The first post to mention MOTM dates back to This EAR post on July 30, 2005, the second to MOTM Madness - Featuring Yamaha GX1 Filter clone on August 4, 2005. Sadly the mp3 linked there is gone. People let their sites go unfortunately. The first post to mention Synthtech is the Epic Son video by John L Rice from back on August 2, 2011. His designs also made it into non modular synths like this Studio Electronics Omega 8 w/ MOTM CS80 & 440 Filters.

Uno Synth Pro X vs TR-909: First Jam

video upload by Honeysmack

"First time play with the Uno Synth Pro X, and the only way I know is to test it with a banging Roland TR-909. All segments are recorded in a single take, no edits. All sounds are running into an Elektron Heat for a little warmth on the master bus. The Synth Pro X is pretty immediate to use and I'm yet to look at the manual. Does it sound like a 303, maybe yes and maybe no -- but there's so much more going on. Love the recordable automation and parameter locking, along with the superb delay and reverbs!! Thanks (grazie) to IK Multimedia for sending this to me to try out.
