"8 stereo voices make this multitimbral analog synth an absolutely massive sound-design toolkit. Very straightforward programming, 400+ really deep presets, complete control via MIDI, fantastic Oberheim and Moog filters on-board (add additional filters using two easy-to-access expander slots per-voice). This unit was professional serviced just before listing."

"The power supply and analog voice board has been recapped and it has been loaded with the Tauntek firmware allowing for external MIDI CC control of the synth's parameters. It also has brand-new slide pots for the front panel volume controls."

Roland D-50 Linear Universe ambient patches

video upload by synthlegends

"Demo of the great soundpack Linear Universe from cl projects sound design https://www.cl-projects-sound-design.... This and the Linear Galaxy soundpack of each 64 patches are necessary for ambient, meditative and romantic style of music. In this demo I didn’t use any effects but those direct frontage D-50. no layering or processing the sounds as well. Just recorded directly to the audio interface."

1989 Kawai K4 - Digital Resonant Filter (DCF) Test

video upload by ChrisLody

"I recently bought this vintage Kawai K4 imported from the USA because I'd heard good things about it. I was most intrigued though by the fact that it's a polyphonic synth with digital resonant filters (as in written purely in code rather than controlling any analog filtering) which makes it one of the first on the market to offer this alongside the Yamaha SY77 and Emu EMAX II which I've been informed all launched in 1989. The Roland D50 had something that sounded very filter like with it's 'TVF' back in 1987, but this was only available on square and saw waves and was more of a mimic of a filter. So I'm told anyway, I never used any of the other gear I just mentioned 😄

S considering that it was this early in the game I was very interested to hear what it sounded like but couldn't find any other filter demos on YouTube, so here's mine. I was planning something more involved showing how to edit a patch etc, but I got carried away playing and ran out of time. Maybe in another video.

All the examples shown use the brightest saw I could find (the waveforms are sampled) in a single slot with a single filter. If setup correctly a single patch can have 2 filters either in parallel or serial modes but I haven't experimented with that yet."

Comparison: The Classic SH-01 GAIA vs the new GAIA 2

video upload by Scott's Synth Stuff

"Roland has released the new GAIA 2 synthesizer, and it's a good one. The original SH-01 GAIA was an absolute classic - it was in production for 13 years! How worthy a successor is the new GAIA 2? I compare the two synths, show the lineage the new GAIA 2 has inherited from the old GAIA, and demonstrate some of the new features. Then I explain WHY I bought the new GAIA 2!"

video upload by Program 17

"Ok. I’m sick of the eprom wars. So I decided to make something totally new!!! I made binary files from a Elektron machine drum ii and programmed them for a Druntraks.

(Man I love this.) this is so cutting edge. And no one has this set. It remained a me of having a whole brand new machine. But a drum traks."
