"This 8-bit Viscount R-64s Italian drum machine just got back from being serviced and is working perfectly. In this video you can see that there are knobs for individual and grouped drum sounds, buttons for cancelling groups of drums, adding or removing the Clap sound, and adding fills. Two or three of the many preset patterns are used. Stereo outputs hard panned in a mixer, so you can hear the machine’s stereo separation. Snare out to the Peavey DDL-3 pedal, panned center."

"This Viscount R64S drum machine was made in 1980s Italy, and is much more than a typical “rhythm machine”. It has great 8-bit sample-based drum sounds, can do Techno or hip hop, can waltz and swing, and has 16 TR-808-style buttons to select preset patterns, each with four variations (select 1-4).

With the R-64S and a delay pedal you don’t even need music, but it plays well with others. This has an internal clock and a CLOCK OUT. It also has a CLOCK IN! I used Pamela’s New Workout on it. It has a stereo output, with panning. The snare drum has its own output!"

Ring Mod Shakuhachi

video upload by Todd Barton

"A little exploration hooking up my shakuhachi to the Balanced Modulator of the Buchla 212 Dodeca module and using the Soundfreak EMS Triple Oscillator as the reference input. The Buchla 230 Envelope Follower is opening up the 292 gate.

Buchla LEM 218e V3 | With MakeNoise Strega, DXG and the Shared System B&G plus.

video upload by Cinematic Laboratory

"This is probably my first and last genuine banana Buchla 'module' because I really want to stick to Eurorack. But since I love Westcoast synthesis a lot, I think it's a must-have keyboard for anyone serious about MakeNoise, the Buchla/TTA 200T series and any brand that gets inspired by Don Buchla designs (e.g. Frap, Verbos, Serge eurorack). I tried so many keys, controllers, pads, etc, but most of them require MIDI to CV and most of them are designed for polyphonic MIDI with a few extra CV outs. The LEM218e is the orginal keyboard for the Buchla Easel from 1973. It may not be perfect, but it's perfect for the music I love most."

JVSY Live Oi Kwan Barbers | Novation Performance

video upload by Novation

"JVSY performs their music at Oi Kwan Barbers, a Canton-style barber shop, with the Novation Summit, SL MkIII, Peak, Launchpad Pro Mk3 and a Eurorack system.

JVSY said the concept was 'to create a piece of music that is minimal but conveys our impression on the unique shooting location that is Oi Kwan Barbers. The location gave us both a nostalgic and familiar feeling, which inspired us emotionally in creating this live set.'

'Novation products were used extensively on both the production and live recording of the piece. The Summit was the primary keyboard synthesizer used for the live shooting, while the Novation SL MkIII was used primarily to clock and trigger other synthesizers such as the Peak and our Eurorack system. The flexibility of the Launchpad also allowed us to trigger samples we collected that are relevant to the shooting location and to make live changes to various audio effect settings we prepared in advance.' - JVSY

SERGE GTS (for eurorack) - Waveforms

video upload by Serge Modular | Random*Source

"How does a slope generator sound? Here two Serge GTS are used as a Complex oscillator that is run into a Variable Slope filter (VCFS), playing a simple MIDI loop via 1V/Oct. Single patch, just playing with a few knobs...

The Serge GTS is a complete redesign of the famous Serge Dual Universal Slope Generator (DUSG) by Serge himself - with a new core, optimized for speed and tracking. Like some of the clones it can be used for CV, but provides exceptional audio performance: transient rise times as fast as 12µs and a maximum cycle speed of 28kHz."
