Groovesizer Theremon: Digital Theremin & MIDI Controller

Published on Jun 30, 2019 MoShang

via Groovesizer

"Theremon is a digital theremin and MIDI controller that you can either build from a kit, or order fully assembled. Like a traditional theremin, Theremon is played without physical contact with one hand controlling pitch, and the other volume. In the place of the two antennas found on a traditional theremin, Theremon features two time of flight sensors that accurately measure the distance of the player’s hands from the instrument."

SampleSimon for Eurorack by MoShang

Published on Mar 23, 2018 MoShang

"12-Bit, 6 Voice Sampler, SD Recorder, 64 Step Sequencer for Eurorack. In this vid, the SampleSimon is playing the 909 drum sounds and sending a gate signal out to a Moog Mother32 that plays the bass line. The Mother is sending an LFO back to the SampleSimon that modulates first the swing amount, and later the sequence length."

"these will be sold built. The timeline is still a wip, but fairly soon (weeks) for the first small beta run, and the full release once we've had time to respond to feedback from the beta."

Note this one is from 2011. Apparently I missed it, so here it is. MoShang is the man behind Groovesizer.

Groovesizer TB2 - Feature Overview

Published on Apr 7, 2015 MoShang

Groovesizer on eBay

"The TB2 is a 4 voice paraphonic wavetable synth shield for the Arduino Due development board. The TB2 features 2 oscillators per voice, an ADSR envelope, LFO, digital filter, arpeggiator, as well as a 16-step sequencer. For sound generation, the TB2 makes use of the pair of 12-bit DACs built into the Arduino Due’s 32 bit ARM processor. The TB2 uses an SD card for storing patches and sequences, and it also allows the user to load single cycle waveshapes for the two oscillators and the LFO."

Groovesizer RED (feat. Korg Volca Keys) - recording automation

Published on Mar 3, 2014 MoShang·62 videos

"Kits and assembled units are available from http://groovesizer.com
This video demonstrates automation on the Groovesizer RED. Record the movements of Pot 1 whilst holding Shift. It corresponds to Grain 1 Pitch on the internal synth. The recorded automation can also be sent out as MIDI cc data on one of 16 preset cc numbers (selected in Preferences Mode). The presets correspond to the 16 cc numbers that the Korg Volca Keys responds to (for more details, please consult the manual http://groovesizer.com/manual-red/). In the video, the automation controls filter cutoff on the Volca Keys (cc44 - RED's default)."

Groovesizer RED - 3 REDs Synced

Published on Feb 24, 2014 MoShang·61 videos

"Kits and built units are available from http://groovesizer.com
In this video three Groovesizer REDs are synced via MIDI clock sent from the first unit. Launching a pattern on the first unit sends a MIDI trigger to the units further along the chain to launch the same pattern. The MID channel for sending trigger messages is 10 by default, but it can be changed on the preferences page."

Groovesizer RED - Bank Modes (with Korg Volca Keys)

Published on Feb 17, 2014 MoShang·60 videos

"Kits and built unit with be available very soon from http://groovesizer.com
The Groovesizer RED's 32 user locations are arranged in 8 banks of 4 patterns. There are 4 different modes for each bank:
Mode 1 - Loop 1: each pattern is looped.
Mode 2 - Loop 2: triggering pattern 1 loops patterns 1 and 2, triggering pattern 2 loops patterns 3 and 4
Mode 3 - Loop 4: triggering pattern 1 loops pattern 1, 2, 3 and 4
Mode 4 - Random: the next pattern is selected at random (1, 2, 3 or 4)
The Groovesizer RED is a DIY 16-step sequencer and granular synth. It's based on the original Groovesizer mk1 Arduino project. It features 16 LEDs (one per step), 5 potentiometers, and 5 buttons, MIDI input and ouput on 5-pin DINs, MIDI sync in and out, and audio out (mono) on an 1/8″ jack. There are 32 user locations for saving patterns and patches. Up to 4 patterns can be chained together to create a 4 bar pattern. Note entry can be quantized to one of 12 pre-defined scales. Patterns can be triggered and transposed via MIDI. Notes can also be entered via an attached MIDI keyboard."

Groovesizer Delta V111

Published on Dec 28, 2013 MoShang·57 videos

"Kits and enclosure are available from http://groovesizer.com
A demo of the Delta firmware for the Groovesizer. Drums are from Cakewalk Sonar and a touch of reverb, delay, and stereo chorus have been added.
With the exception of a couple of hitches, it was pretty straightforward to replace the DAC-based sound engine of the Groovesizer Alpha with the PWM-based granular one of Peter Knight's Auduino. It positively drips with character and squelchy goodness. All the sequencer features of the Alpha firmware have been retained. These include:
- 32 step sequencer
- step ties, rests, and slides
- MIDI sync (in and out)
- 112 save locations for patterns
- saved patterns are chainable
- record movements of pot 1 with the option to send recorded automation out as MIDI cc data
- random pattern creation (chromatic, major, minor, pentatonic)
- accents"
