EFFEXX string filter example

video upload by Jörg Schaaf

"A snappy noiseshot from the Delta CEP A2 turns into something different in the EFFEXX multi FX module RT-1701. The delaytime of the string filter is controlled by the Delta's step sequencer. Maybe you have not noticed yet, that the step sequencer of the Delta CEP A2 does not only work with the internal sound engine but also with the KB-CV output of the Delta's MIDI2CV converter."

Radikal Technologies Delta CEP A - Workshop @SchneidersLaden

Published on Apr 2, 2020 SchneidersLaden

"Jörg Schaaf aka Radikal Technologies was in Berlin to present his latest synthesizer designs like the Delta Cep A. He is responsible for some modern classic synth designs made in Germany – like the Spectralis and Accelerator. In the past years he mainly developed eurorack modules like the RT-311 Swarm Oscillator, RT-451 Dual Filter, RT-1701 Effexx or the semi-modular synthesizer Delta Cep A which is also availabe as a desktop version.

His complex designs always bring a lot of functionality to the table and they can sound amazing."

DeltaEffexxSpectralis

Published on Aug 8, 2018 Jörg Schaaf

"The Delta CEP A repeats just one note with a fat swarm oscillator sound. The output of the Delta is fed into the EFFEXX Multi FX module for some reverb. The RT-1701 effect setting adds a nice dark atmosphere to the sound. All other instruments are sequenced and played by the Spectralis 2 Synthesizer. BTW. - the Spectralis II drum sounds in this example are samples that I created with our Eurorack modules.

The DELTA CEP A is a new semimodular musicsynthesizer with monophonic and paraphonic playmodes, preset memories and snapshot automation. The DELTA CEP A is the perfect starting point into the EURORACK world and will become available soon as desktop standalone synthesizer and EURORACK module. The DELTA CEP A works just out of the box without any cable patching. If you are looking for a EURORACK FX unit or for POLYPHONY within your cabinet, you should also have a closer look as well. Are you curious about connectivity with your other gear? The DELTA CEP A has a MIDI interface and connects to every MIDI gear (MIDI sequencers, Keyboards etc.) The desktop version comes with standard 1/4 inch jack inputs and outputs.

The audio streams in that video are directly recorded from the main outs of the Delta. We have not used any compression or volume automation. What you hear is the original sound of the unit. If you have the impression, that it is not loud enough, please just adjust the volume;-)"

ELKA X30 Organ VS. EFFEXX Multi FX Module

Published on Apr 22, 2018 Jörg Schaaf

"Last night I brought the ELKA X30 together with our RT-1701 Multi EFFEXX module and checked the string ensemble in combination with the tape delay, reverb and the stereo phaser of our module. At the end I added a bass sound from my favorite polyphonic synth - the Accelerator. Oddly enough I started to play typical Jean-Michel Jarre chord progressions. So I decided remove the FX module from the signal chain again."

Into The Dark Cavern

Jörg Schaaf
Published on Aug 5, 2017

"The RT-1701 Multi FX module 'EFFEXX' is a very flexible, digital effect module for Eurorack Modular Synthesizer. Setting can be memorized in snapshot memories and the unit can interpolate and crossfade through different snapshot memories. In this example we pass the gate to a psychedelic cavern."

RT-1701 Multi FX Modulation FXs

Jörg Schaaf
Published on Aug 3, 2017

"The EFFEXX module sports modulation FXs like Phasing, Chorus and Flanging. In this example you can listen to the interpolation through 4 different snapshots.

Snapshot 1: Dry Signal
Snapshot 2: Delay & Phasing & Reverb
Snapshot 3: Delay & Chorus & Reverb
Snapshot 4: Delay & Flanging & Reverb

In the beginning the interpolation is controlled by the internal LFO. Later I show the manual control with the big knob.

The music pattern is a little Spectralis pattern with samples from the Sample Library 2.

I hope, you enjoy this little audio demo!"

Radikal Technologies EFFEXX Interpolation

Jörg Schaaf
Published on Aug 2, 2017

"I created a little video demonstrating the tempo delay, flanger, reverb and lowpass filter of the RT-1701 EFFEXX module. At the last third I create some snapshots and crossfade/interpolate through them. The drum groove comes from the Spectralis 2. I created the drumsounds with my eurorack system and imported the samples into the Spectralis 2 sample engine. The kick drum doesn't run through the EFFEXX in this example."

Radikal Technologies EFFXX RT-1701 Synced Delay demo

Published on Jul 7, 2017 Jörg Schaaf

"Little demo featuring the synced delay feature of the new EFFEXX firmware version...
Audio Path:
RT-311 Swarm Oscillator - RT-451 Filter- A-132 VCA-EFFEXX Multi FX
Control:
LFO-A-155 Stepsequencer-Trigger 1 - Envelopes,
Trigger 2 - EFFEX Delay Sync
EG1 - Filter Cutoff Control
EG2 - VCA Level Control

EFFEXX Settings:
FX-1 = Tempo Delay
FX-2 = Chorus
Shift + Tempo. Max Tempo sets Delay in Sync Mode.
Received Gate signals are only the time base in quarter notes. The tempo of both delays are dependent from that clock but can be set to different note values."

Modular Ambient Chords

Published on May 30, 2017 Jörg Schaaf

Jörg Schaaf is the man behind Radikal Technologies.

"Modular Ambient Chords
I created a patch with the following modules: A-155 sequencer, A-147-2 VCDLFO, A-140 ADSR, RT-311 Swarm Oscillator, RT-451 Dual Multimode Filter and the RT-1701 'EFFEXX' Multi FX processor. I was so surprised by these floating ambient tones that I forgot to check the ISO settings of my DSLR camera. As a result, I received a noisy video footage. It really looked bad. So I decided to replace that footage with some Landschaftspark clips - which are not really much better. Anyway. It's all about that modular patch. So just close your eyes and listen to the modular ambient patch.
What the patch does: I have two audio signal sources. One audio signal is the output of the envelope generator and one signal is a chord from the swarm oscillator. These signals are fed into the inputs of the RT-451 Multimode filter. The outputs of the filter are fed into the EFFEXX Multi FX unit. The envelope signal source is triggered by the LFO. The LFO also triggers the step sequencer. The control voltages of the step sequencer control the cutoff frequency of both filters, the delay tuning of the EFFEXX string filter and the pitch of the swarm oscillator. I am changing the following parameters during the performance:
The reverb level.
The string filter frequency.
The modulation depth and speed of the string filter delay time.
The delay feedback.
The cutoff frequencies of the multimode filter.
The speed of the LFO.
I hope, you enjoy this litte ambient track."

New Radikal Technologies EFFEXX RT1701 Multi FX Processor Eurorack Module

EFFEXX RT1701 Multi FX Processor Demo 1

Published on Jan 6, 2017

"That is the first demo of our new Multi FX Processor for the Eurorack Modularsynth world - the EFFEXX RT1701"

New details via Radikal Technologies:

"Radikal Technologies showcases the brand new RT-1701 EFFEXX Multi FX-Module for the eurorack world. This new FX unit combines multiple FX processors with Radikal's powerful snapshot animation feature. Create the most astonishing FX morphing sounds and control them with external control voltages from envelope generators, step sequencers or LFOs. For the first time, we are also presenting the Release version of the Swarm Oscillator RT-311 that recently hit the US market. We are at in Hall C, boothnumber 4803.

The RT-1701 features a gain stage with saturation, a very flexible EQ/Filter section and 2 selectable DSP effects for the modern electronic musician. The following effects are available: Reverb, Delay, Chorus, Phaser, Flanger, Tremolo, Vibrato, Filter. Effect combinations and settings can be memorized in up to 8 snapshots for every program. The snapshot blender allows for creating smooth transitions between the different snapshots. The blender can be controlled by an internal LFO or with external control voltages. By blending from one snapshot to the next, the module produces a mix between the two FX snapshots."
