video by Denis Polic

"The fight against pandemic is on the turning point, more and more people arround the world are getting vacinated. Unfortunately the tempo of vacianation in Germany is very slow, so im still waiting for my turn. Hope it would be done soon, so the life would slowly return to normal, after months of lockdown. Untill than, i´ll be in my basement , making music, hope you would like it.

As usual, recorded in one take, no remastering or overdubbing, just me and my synths, cheers and peace on Earth!!!"

Corona Session 2 - A little lullaby

video by Jörg Schaaf

Jörg Schaaf Corona Sessions

"Everyone talks about Corona and Covid 19 every day. In most cases the result is a really depressing mood. The fear to get sick, the loneliness while staying home, all the missing friends etc. Really disgusting. We should start to see Covid 19 as a chance. The chance to find time to realize things, you would not get done in normal times. I for example finished my album in 2020, grew vegetables in my garden and spent more time than ever with my hobbies. I did not spent so much time in my pub. So, I drunk less beer. All that are positive aspects. I even started jogging in 2020.

That’s the reason, I call my night sessions from now on Corona sessions. Just to help you guys seeing that pandemic as a chance as well. You have one life! So, spend time with yourself and do something, you always wanted to do but never found the time to do. I prepared a nice little video studio at a rent place and I can go there whenever I want to and can perform music and shoot videos. That is a great pleasure for me.

Here is Corona Session 2. For the first time, I added some little fog to the performance. That gives hopefully an illusion of a real live concert.

When my favorite pub Klimbim in Gießen is opened again, the final Corona session will take place and a new name will be born.
Little improvisation with the following machines:
2x Delta CEP A (the percussive sequence and the solo/meldody leadsynth)

I was watching the news on TV and they were talking about Coronaparty, showing kids hiding in the forest between the trees, some had tie wraps around there wrists, it spoke to my imagination.

Triangle/Sine waves the natural sounds on the ground and the digitaly created signals in the tree tops. (Controlles on the tree trunks)."

Isolation - COVID-19 Response Compilation

breadforthecity.org/donation/covid19fund

This one is in via Dave Vosh who appears on the compilation.

"Isolation is a compilation benefitting Bread for the City's Covid-19 Response Fund. Bread for the City is a nonprofit in Washington, D.C. that provides food, clothing, and social services to those in need. COVID-19 has hit economically vulnerable communities particularly hard. Access to medical care and social services continues to be difficult and COVID-19 's effects on our nation's health and economy have made such access more difficult. All of this means that folks need whatever help we can provide now more than ever.

We know that every little bit helps, so we are using our noise, drone, and experimental music to help others.

If you like the sounds on this compilation, please check out additional music by the talented and generous folks who have made it happen.

If you hate the sounds on this compilation, please express your disgust with a massive donation to Bread for the City.

NEEMFest 2020 Cancelled

via https://neemfest.com

"Hello Friends,

Unfortunately, we must postpone NEEMFest 2020 indefinitely. It was a difficult decision to make (and is even more difficult to communicate) because there was no single overwhelming reason for it. Rather I -- and the rest of the group that you’ve entrusted with planning and arranging it -- felt that there are numerous obstacles standing in the way of a successful and satisfying experience for the community, enough of them to make postponement the wisest plan. A complete list would take a while, but there are three I’ll mention here.

First, a virtual conference requires a huge effort from presenters and performers, and because much of that involves learning and experimentation, it must be done well in advance. Many of us, through no fault of our own, are not very far down that road. Even though we were ready to assist everyone with both documentation and in-person support, we did not feel that NEEMFest would be able to maintain its inclusiveness, the one thing that all of us value the most.

Second, those of us who had done streaming events realized that audience attention is far harder to capture and maintain with a multi-day virtual event. That, and the need to provide technical support, had already led to a decision to reduce the number of performance slots from our normal 40+ to around 16. At that point, we had entered a world where it was not at all clear that the rewards for the performers (or for the technical volunteers) would justify the effort.

The third reason is the most difficult to describe and at the same time the most compelling. The entire community is stressed and distracted now. There is a pandemic raging in the United States and it is going to get worse, even as the rest of the developed world is slowly returning to normal. Some of us face financial insecurity. Those who have children in school, or who work in schools and colleges, are experiencing worrisome risk and real uncertainty about what will happen in just a few weeks (my own city of 30,000 is about to face an influx of tens of thousands of college students who will, of course, maintain social distancing and other safe practices at all times). NEEMFest was scheduled for the week after the public schools reopen -- a peak time for either anxiety or relief, and either way a time when people will be most focused on family and friends. It seemed that our chances of capturing the attention of performers and audience at that point in the calendar were, if anything, substantially worse than they would be at other times.

We concluded that we should, as one of us put it, “do NEEM when we can really do NEEM”. In the meantime, we can all raise our game, and continue working on virtual events in a paced, deliberate way. We’re making all of the technical-support materials we prepared available on the NEEM website (at https://neemfest.com/?post_type=encyclopedia&p=7771&preview=true ]). All of us are available to help people who want to get going. There are any number of good ideas for Zoom presentations and online tours floating around; over the coming weeks, we’ll be putting those forward here in the hope that some educational events and virtual tours might spring up. There is a lot for all of us to work on, and I hope that as many of you as possible will join us.

Speaking now only for myself (and maybe for some of my bandmates), virtual collaboration and performance have been a real godsend for me over the last few months. This is a resilient and adventurous community, and I’m confident that NEEM will come back in the form of a hundred micro-NEEMs before we are all able to meet together in person again -- and that there will be some new things, uniquely possible in cyberspace, that will astonish and delight all of us.

A final, personal word: I am immensely grateful to the volunteer crew of organizers: Rebekkah, Mike, Steve, Ken, Rob S., Jim, and Chris. This has been a rocky road, and I have pitched a few of the rocks. All of us are even more grateful to those of you who have made financial contributions to support NEEM. Fortunately, we have spent very little if any money so far, and your contributions remain to be used exactly as you intended -- to make the next NEEM the most inclusive, fee-free event it can possibly be. All of us are in your debt.

We close with a musical selection: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mdZXQHa9rv0"

DONALDCRUNK live 07/25/20 @ MOTS Seattle (Dynamic Eurorack Ambient)

donaldjasoncrunk

"My live performance from the 07/25/20 Modular on the Spot Seattle live stream on twitch.tv/modularseattle. Performing from my back deck due to the COVID-19 pandemic - can't wait to play again in person!!

This patch is pretty straightforward - melodies are a combo of SH Mk II + Mutable Marbles, which is used to transpose things around. Kick / bass is Plaits (of course). Of special note is the WORNG Electronics SoundStage, which I'm using to duck the pads/melodies and really tie the mix together. Great module."

"This Like-new Moog Model 10 reissue has played twice and contains all original parts, authenticity records, signed and numbers collateral, original box, patch cables, power supply, etc.

Current events have forced me to liquidate most of my studio's non-essential music equipment. Unfortunately, new mandates from LA County have pushed back the timetable during which my studio can re-open, therefore I'm selling this to pay final rent and last remaining employee's paycheck before closing shop."

Cescato Musiktechnologie Gives Away "T-C-M Quarantine Sound Banks Collection"

via Wally Cescato

"Due to these difficult times of staying at home, Wally Cescato gives away a collection of 640 patches for the 'Trans Computer Maschine' VST Instrument that gathered throughout a long time. They are intended for normal keyboard playing, without using the sequencer section and most of them use just two oscillators. That's because they date back to the time before the 'T-C-M', when the project was still just an emulation of the ARP Odyssey. The sounds are nameless and simply numbered in no specific order, and of course, it is expressly allowed to rename them and build other banks to share with others!

The full "640 patches" pack is freely available at the official site.

Isolation Choir Library for M-Tron Pro

Published on Apr 28, 2020 GForce Software

"On April 1st 2020 we reached our 20th Birthday. But, given what's going on in the world, it seemed disingenuous to celebrate, so instead, we looked at how we could give something back to those who've supported us over the last 20 years.

During Sonic Talk 613, ace singer/songwriter Jamie Lidell made mention of his 'Isolation Loops' pack, as a way of 'giving something back' and this sparked an idea to do something similar. So we contacted Jamie, plus various other friends and M-Tron Pro users, asking them to provide 35 notes (the Tron key range) with each note lasting up to 8 seconds (the Tron tape length). Those who could, very kindly obliged, utilising everything from an empty sound stage, to a smart phone. Recordings were then chopped, edited and, in few cases, pitch shifted to meet the 35 note criteria.

At the time of recording, like most others, the contributors are self-isolating and we think their individual circumstances have translated into performances both wonderful and poignant. Also, because Covid-19 affects the lungs, this project felt like an act of defiance and unity in the face of something dark and ugly.

These contributors include: Alex Ball, Angie Pollock, Anna Kumble, Duncan Parsons, Jamie Lidell, Les Pressure, Maddie Jones, Matt Berry, Mike Rose, Nate Williams, Neil Rough, Putte, Dave Spiers and others. It also includes a modicum of remastered M-Tron Pro and ChamberTron choral tape banks, plus a few previously unreleased gems.

Bringing it to fruition has been an incredibly moving experience. But we're happy to make the Isolation Choir available FREE to registered users of M-Tron Pro.

Stay Safe - Stay Creative - and THANK YOU for your support."

X-Series MKII Dual Oscillator Module

Priced at $1499

Fully analog double oscillator with integrated ring modulator based on the MC1496 chip which appears in many vintage synth designs from the 1970's. Cross modulation, linear FM, are all on board. A lot of VCO and a lot of knob on 42HP. Together with the Macbeth backend filter, the combination provides a full and high-quality complex voice.

New features to the predecessor:

-transistor pairs are more closely matched in this version. This provides increased tuning stability and allows better tracking.

-Precise multi-turn potentiometers provide additional signal stability and simplify the calibration of the oscillators

-use of very high quality parts in the entire signal path. Significant improvement in the choice of capacitors.

-The output section of the oscillators has changed significantly and now each oscillator is joined by two sub-oscillator outputs. The change is as follows:
MKI: SAW / RAMP / SQU / RECT / TRI / SINE
MKII: SAW / RECT / TRI / SINE and now also SUB-OCTAVE ONE / SUB-OCTAVE TWO (you can expect a massive sound here)

-The 10-turn potentiometers have been retained and make fine-tune controls obsolete

-The noise generator now contains a double potentiometer and a summing amplifier/mixer circuit for the white and pink output.

-The ring modulator remains the same and is based on the balanced modulator IC MC1496.
-In addition to the 16-pin Doepfer standard bus connector for the power supply, the rarely used CV bus is now also used

-The jack sockets have been revised. On the original X-Series, Ken Macbeth had used the same type of 'box jack' that many others use. Ken began to question the reliability of this type of plug - and now with the MK2 versions about to be launched, he felt it was important to upgrade the jacks to a higher quality type. As far as plugging is concerned, they will have a much longer life, which in turn will increase reliability".

I brought some equipment home from the studio for the lockdown period. I made this acid track whilst reminiscing of the raving days. The 90's were a great time and moulded my style!

I'll be completely pulling this set up apart to make way for a new addition, the Roland MC707 so watch out for more new content. coming soon.

Thanks and enjoy.

Gear list and set up.

Social entropy engine - Main clock, sequencing Bass Station 2 and Access virus C
Korg Electribe 2 - Running drums, perc and some bass.
Future Retro 777 - The acid machine, output(mono) to input L of the Virus to use its effects and filter.
Bass Station 2 - Playing Arps/rave sound, output(mono) going to input R of the Virus to use effects, filter and LFO's.
Access Virus C - Playing lush pad intro, mainly used for onboard effects for this performance.
Korg Kaos Pad 3 - Using the onboard node 8 effect and looping vocals.

No post production, this was recorded live using a Zoom Q8 camera input straight from the Behringer UB802.
