A Special Message From Eric Persing of Spectrasonics - Stéphane Bonvallet Passed Away From COVID-19

A Special Message From EP Published on Apr 15, 2020 SpectrasonicsVIDEO

"A Special Message to our Community from Spectrasonics Founder Eric Persing."

Stéphane is the first person in the synth industry that I'm aware of who has passed away from the coronaviris / COVID-19. He was too young.

via Spectrasonics:

"Stéphane Bonvallet is truly Spectrasonics’ French Connection.

It all started with a D-50 and an explosion of music programming around the planet. Stéphane was one of the first to own this legendary synth in France. His addiction to it and all things audio secured him a position in the dawning of this age of musical programming. Some say he could often be seen programming sounds with his eyes shut in a state of audio nirvana.

It's this kind of passion that keeps Stéphane the eternal optimist in all things pertaining to music and destiny. The allure of the industry eventually lead him to pursue a Masters in Sound Engineering. Studying music arrangement and jazz at the CIM, considered the premiere jazz school in Europe, Stéphane built his skill set through countless studio hours. His talents found their first home in French television work for Les Enfants de la Télé and La Fureur du Samedi Soir.

His association with Spectrasonics spans nearly a decade as a consultant, demonstrator and as a member of the renown sound development team for Omnisphere and Trilian."

"The Organ Machine" combo organ CV interface and how it works (ADCs and multiplexers!)

Published on Apr 5, 2020

"The interface circuits we designed and built for 'The Organ Machine' allow a vintage combo organ or other instrument with a divide-down architecture to be controlled with control voltage sequencers, with a separate CV input for each octave. Each octave of the organ is used as the core of a separate synthesizer voice after being fed through the envelopes and filters of a Music From Outer Space modular synth and Buchla clone low pass gates. In this video, Darian demos the instrument and Alison explains how it works, with an explanation of what ADCs (analog to digital converters) and multiplexers do.

This isn't the kind of thing we usually do, but we thought it might be fun to share this weird DIY project while everyone's at home because of the Coronavirus!

ThreeTom Steve's MS-22 PCB/Panel Back in Stock + Covid19 Update

via ThreeTom Modular

"Good news! The delivery gods have graced me with a new shipment of Steve’s MS-22 PCB/panel sets. I’m also happy to say that these new PCB’s now sport a fancy nickel gold plating, which should lead to even easier SMT soldering than before. Even though the current batch is a bit larger than the previous one, please know there already were some pre-orders. If you want one (or more), don’t wait too long before ordering! :)

In other news, I’m sure you’ve noticed there’s currently a world-wide pandemic going on. This has some impact on shipping :In addition to the PCB/panel set, I’m now also offering the required knobs and switches, saving you some time (and shipping costs) sourcing these very specific components.

Bpost has currently suspended all shipments going out of the EU.
DPD seems mostly fine for now, with some hickups in France, Spain and Italy
Because of the above, some Threetom orders may be delayed. If this is the case for your order, I’ll keep you posted (pun intended) on when I can ship. For all shipments by Bpost, please assume at least 4 weeks of delay. Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions about this.

Stay safe and healthy my friends!
Tom"

End Times Modular COVID-19 Support Benefit

via End Times Modular

"From now until April 1st we will donate $50 for every Lo-Five module sold to the Beloved Asheville covid-19 community response fund. Plus you get 10% off the purchase. Thank you for supporting us and our community here in Asheville North Carolina.

You can find the discount on End Times Modular's Reverb shop here.

Details on the End Times Modular Lo-Five Analog Clap Generator and Beyond! 8HP Eurorack Module:

"End Times Modular is proud to introduce the Lo-Five Analog Clap Generator!

Analog Claps, Percussion and Beyond!
The Lo-Five was born of the desire for an analog clap generator that can evoke the clap styles of a wide variety of vintage analog drum machines. As with the Quark, we've taken the collection of parameters required to achieve that goal and opened them to radical extremes of control and modulation. So dial in the perfect disco clap or push the parameters to create new and unusual sounds. Experimentation is surprisingly rewarding. Check out the video below for an idea of what the Lo-Five can do. More videos and sound samples are available on our YouTube channel."

Update: Video playlist added:

1. Psytrance artist Kri Samadhi takes the Lo-Five on a solo workout driven by the Voltage Block
Psytrance producer and modular synthesist Kri Samadhi takes the Lo-Five analog clap and percussion module on a solo workout with the Voltage Block sequencer to see just how far you can take the sound.
2. Lo-Five Experimental Bleeps - Eurorack Percussion Module Demo
Four Lo-Five modules and some modulation used to make this experimental loop. Lo-Five module from End Times is available now at Reverb.
3. Claps and Slaps from the Lo-Five Eurorack Module
Frenetic beat featuring the Lo-Five Analog Clap and Percussion Generator from End Times Modular. Some additional sounds from the Quark module.
4. Beat made with four Lo-Five Analog Percussion Modules.
Simple beat with all sounds coming from Lo-Five modules! The Lo-Five eurorack module is an 8HP analog clap and percussion generator. Its specialty is evoking the analog clap sounds of vintage drum machines. Bend its parameters to the extreme to create a wide variety of familiar and unfamiliar percussive flavors. Available from End Times Modular and sold on Reverb.

Absolutely no social distancing from these guys.
