EML SynKey 2001 Rare Vintage Synthesizer w/ Punch Cards SN 10688

via this auction

"Here's a rare EML Syn-key Synthesizer. I acquired this from a public school about 4 years ago and it worked back then but time has seemed to have taken it's toll. It was stored inside the house over those years but now it seems to have lost it's tones, it will make quiet rising and falling white noise when the keys are depressed but little else. It sounds like it's trying to make sound without any tones if that makes any sense. Either way it's not working properly and will need to be repaired or rebuilt. The keys functioned last time I used it but again that was 4 years ago. Cosmetically there's quite a few scuffs and scrapes from the years as you can see in the photos.
On the upside there are cards and a manual with it! There are four blank cards, thirteen factory cards and 13 user programmed cards. Sorry, no hole punch for the cards is included. Only the Factory cards are labeled with descriptions, they are as follows...

Sea With Birds
Funky Bass
Baroque Horns
Electronic Flute
Wow #1
Plucked String Bass
Staircase Stinger

Yamaha CS60: most expressive synthesizer I’ve ever played! by Stephen Coker

Published on Aug 6, 2018 Stephen Coker

Follow-up to this post.

"1977 Vintage Yamaha Cs60 Synthesizer demonstration by Mix Lord. “Stephen Coker”.

Recorded through a Universal Audio LA-610 Channel strip into a Apogee Ad8000 with waves reverb and, a slight chorus plugin. Mastering was simple and minimally done to preserve most of the dynamics of the instrument for this demonstration.

The Yamaha CS 60 is a landmark in synthesis history. This is the very first 8 voice fully programmable polyphonic analog synthesizer available to the general public.

This instrument changed the world and, set the standards for synthesizer companies that come afterwards. Though, no other synthesizer ever reached anywhere near what this and the CS80 synthesizers do. The sheer range in tonal possibilities are endless. From soft perfect moving pads to, hi-fi cutting edge textures.
From Moog type leads to patches that are indistinguishable from a saxophone. I’ve even programmed an exact replica of a fretless bass with complete ease.

The CS60 has 8 VCO’s that make up a single identical layer of the CS80’s dual Voice architecture. With extensive real-time performance controls, this synth was designed for the performing musician and composer in mind. Pulse and ramp waves are available simultaneously with a dedicated LFO for PWM and a beautiful noise circuits that is extremely useful.

The dual filters may be the most important aspect of the CS sound. The high pass and low pass filter act as a band pass filter “ in series” that cannot be matched in pure tone and power. No matter where you have the filter cut off, it always sounds musical and, amazing.

Through me you pass into eternal pain:
Through me among the people lost for aye.

Sequential Circuits Pro One Vintage Synth SN 5638

via this auction

"Inside the base plate is signed 'Julia 12-16-81', so I probably bought it (new) in early '82. I've only used it at home and it's been stored in the loft for some years. It's in excellent cosmetic condition, apart from a couple of odd nicks on the end cheeks and baseplate shown in the photos. There was very little dust inside when I opened it up. I've cleaned and lubricated the keyboard as best I can, cleaned the J-wires and bus bars, treated the switches and pots with contact cleaner and beeswaxed the wooden end panels. I haven't replaced the keyboard bushings so the action is a bit clicky. Everything seems fine although the Osc A Pulse Width knob is a bit scratchy in places. I don't have the equipment to test the CV/Gate ins and outs."

Published on Aug 6, 2018 DivKidVideo

"Here's the Grand Terminal from and here's my in depth demo of it. I would like to stress that although this is a long, in depth video showing a lot of the uses of the module all the basic functionality and great sound is covered right on the faceplate. It's two function generators, two filters and an FX engine. Simple to use but there's a lot of complexity and digital control in a one level menu that's accessed with button holds. This stops the module being twice the HP size it is, keeps all the key controls at the front but also allows you to set the module up exactly how you want (it saves all the settings automatically on power down / power up) and then make use of all it can offer.

The Grand Terminal makes use of zero delay filters and recent DSP developments in virtual analogue filter design. This DSP can be found in products such as the U-He Diva and there's some resources for those interested below.

Quote from Endorphines - "with recent V2 Airways GT update, almost all GT filter types obtained so-called zero-delay nature, Zero-delay filters are recent (well, since probably 5 years) DSP researches present in quality virtual analog synths as U-he Diva or Reaktor Blocks and many more."

"The reason these filters are so interesting (and titled Virtual Analog) is that they mathematically preserve the original analog filter topology, including (in most cases) zero-delay loops" (c)

BoardWeevil 2015 meets AAS Objeq

"Pairing the Board Weevil with AAS Objeq turned out to be a great idea (well, in IMO anyway). In this Part 1 video, I'm focus on exploring Objeq's sound sculpting capabilities. For the sake of comparison, I pull Objeq out of the mix towards the end of this video. In the Part 2 video, I focus on utilizing the Board Weevil's touch plates and LDR sensor and how nicely Objeq sonically responds.

Thanks for Listening & watching!!!"

Schmidt Design Prototyping from Designer Axel Hartmann

Auto-translated via Axel Hartmann on Facebook:

"What does not come out on this rendering; - at the Schmidt you can adjust the color and intensity for all Leds (collected) and for the display accentuating free and above all floating over the complete spectrum by knobs. This is a very fine feature that always hits bright enthusiasm"

Update: according to Swissdoc, this was one of the initial design renderings of the Schmidt shared by Axel Hartmann on FB thread and not new: "the picture shown by Axel Hartmann is one of the first renderings he did for the Schmidt about 10 years ago. So that is nothing new. Very similar to the Little Phatty. Design was changed to what we know by today."
