Dedicate Shortwave by Cray

"Initially recorded in 2014 using only the Buchla modular synthesizer in Kyneton, Australia.

This live improvised Buchla performance came about through my childhood love of listening to Shortwave Radio. In Australia we wouldn’t so much hear number stations it was more Indonesian Gamelan phasing in and out with alien like frequencies swooshing about. I would prefer to listen to shortwave over pop music as a child. It has made me the musician I am today.

Dedicate Shortwave appears now in 3 versions, all of same length with quite minimal differences. This is the enhanced 2021 version."

The Seventh Wave Festival of Electronic Music: Number Ten Set for November

Details via Chris MacAdams of The Seventh Wave:

The Seventh Wave
Festival of Electronic Music: Number Ten

Members of Gary Numan’s ‘Tubeway Army’ (Dramatis) return to the live arena!

Tenth Electronic Music Festival comes to Birmingham and once again it includes an all-day free electronic music event featuring talks, demonstrations, interactive sessions, synth manufacturer attendance, a room for attendees to set up and show off their synth gear and a number of free live performances!

In March of 2020 the ninth ‘The Seventh Wave Festival of Electronic Music’ took place across three days – this was just before the UK went into its first National Covid-19 lockdown.

In November of 2021 the event returns and the tenth ‘The Seventh Wave Festival of Electronic Music’ takes place across three days.

For a relatively small festival The Seventh Wave continues to get some of the biggest names in electronic and progressive music. This time around you can feast your eyes (and ears!) on no less than three electronic/synth-pop legends.

On Friday evening, the headliner is Ian Boddy and Nigel Mullaney. Ian Boddy (DiN Record Label Owner) is one of the founding fathers of the electronic music scene in the United Kingdom. Nigel has worked regularly alongside Ian and releases electronic music on the DiN label, home of top artists such as Node, Markus Reuter, Chris Carter and much more.

On Saturday evening, the headliner is Fiat Lux — from the Latin for “let there be light”. Formed in 1982 and hailing from Wakefield in Yorkshire, England, they pioneered a unique sonic stamp, the influence of which is still felt today. Their pioneering blend was full of lush synthesizer textures, acoustic and electric keyboards, and studio effects – all anchored by Steve Wright’s emotive vocals with multi-instrumentalist David Crickmore providing guitar, bass, and keys.

On Sunday, it is the turn of Dramatis who are an English synth-pop band who were formed in the early 1980s. Chris Payne, Rrussell Bell, Cedric Sharpley, and Denis Haines were all originally members of Gary Numan's backing band. They formed Dramatis following Numan's announced retirement in April 1981.Chris Payne and Rrussell Bell are recording again as Dramatis and released 'A Torment of Angels' just before Covid reared its ugly head ….. this is a very rare opportunity to see Dramatis live (with the added bonus of a Q&A).

Tickets can be purchased for the individual paid events from Skiddle at https://www.skiddle.com/groups/theseventhwave/ and for the free event which runs from 10.00 am until 5.00 pm people can just turn up on the day, stay for a few minutes, or get hooked and end up of staying all day!"

Altın Gün - (Live on KEXP)

Altın Gün Live on KEXP with a Roland Juno-60 & SH-2. I beleive that's and SH-2 based on the four knobs and set of sliders to the left of them.

Note the video above and the video above are the same. They are just set to start at different tracks. The above should start with Cemalım and the below with Goca Dünya. Both do an interesting job at showcasing the two synths used in this musical context. Altın Gün is based out of Amsterdam. They perform psychedelic rock covers of classic Turkish/Anatolian folk music.

"Impromptu tweak of preset 328 Prophet 6 String. Kind of an unusual name for this preset since it sounds more like bells."

ACID JAM // Gotharman's TinyLD // #TTNM

video upload by THE TUESDAY NIGHT MACHINES

"I created some acid techno sounds on Gotharman's TinyLD workstation while I was camping and then recorded this little performance after I got home :-) It's all internal digital sounds, using the current firmware's oscillator and filter models. So no sampling and I also didn't enable the dual analog filter board I have installed in this Tiny Little Deformer 3.

More info: https://gotharman.dk/tiny_ld.htm

I love to hear from you and talk about synths and stuff, so always feel welcome to post a comment or send me an e-mail to: ➤ tuesdaynightmachines@gmail.com"

"Roland SH-3A rare vintage analog synthesizer 1975.

In absolutely fantastic condition, most surfaces completely blemish or weathering free. Rare to find one in this condition, sounding fantastic too!

Cased, with the original power cabling nicely contained in the still operating door compartment for storage. Only issue with the unit is a small chip out of one of the knobs, picture included, barely noticeable unless handling the dial directly, and some aging of the blue material lining the lid, however while used this isn't a direct part of the synth.

Rare piece of kit in even rarer condition."

"Korg's Synthe-Bass (model SB-100) which, from the serial number, I believe dates to 1975. It has been in my possession in a cupboard for over 30 years and not used in that time (I cannot play keyboards). I have plugged it in and connected to a small guitar practice amp and makes the noises I presume it's meant to make, so all seems OK. I would still recommend that the buyer checks out everything for electrical safety due to its age. It's fairly heavy..."

" The only complaint I have is that the midi will go wonky. It will send and receive midi, but when recording through midi the audio will go kind of wild. It is almost as if the modulation spazzes when passing midi. That aside, when recording as usual the unit works perfectly and sounds beautiful. Also, one key has a small chip and bubble."
