A Korg MS-20 in the WORLDS LONGEST REVERB + other Synths in Weird Spaces // Poly Effects Verbs

"Ever wanted to hear a Korg MS-20 in the worlds longest reverb? Of course you have, I have and now I have ... and now you can!

With the power of convolution reverbs and good impulse responses I transport some of my synths (Korg MS-20, Roland SH-09, PWM Malevolent and Eurorack Modular) into some unique spaces included a bombproof underground WW2 oil storage facility in Scotland, an abandoned cooling tower in Belgium as well as classic studio gear with the AKG BX20 spring reverb and the ECOPLATE 1980 plate reverb. Tremendous fun and fantastic sounds.

This is all with the brand new Verbs stereo convolution pedal from Poly Effects. It has 8 banks of 8 impulse responses (plus 8 more that can be user replaced) with some fascinating natural and man made spaces along with a collection of studio gear and create, weird and wonderful IRs too. "Loki from Poly Effects gave us a look at their Euro-Rack module, Hector, a virtual modular environment with six ins and eight outs and over 100 different modules including all of Mutable Instruments' modules, effects and more. Hector features a Euclidean sequencer and a brand new chord strummer module that allows users to select chords and strum them.

We then saw Beebo, which is Hector in guitar pedal form with four ins and four outs and Josh Smith Flat V which is a gain pedal with 2 channels. Channel A is transistor based with selectable diodes. Channel B is amp style gain circuit with cascaded JFETs replacing valves while resonant filters shape the tone.

"There have already been some great walkthroughs by Loopop and Red Means Recording [see previous posts] so in this series I'd like to focus on the more exotic 'modules' in the Hector virtual modular module. It reminds me a lot of VCV-Rack because it has the most important Mutable modules on board (Plaits, Grids, Marbles, Warps, Clouds, Tides, Rings, etc) but even then you'll be just scratching the big touch surface. There are amp sims, there's convolution reverb and a huge array of effects and utilities. It's the ultimate starter module too."

"MITL Live set from the Oscillosaurus Ranch at Paterson, NSW in June 2021.
My current Live rig of Norns, ARC & Faderbank 16 has been supplemented by the excellent Poly Beebo Pedal. This incredible device allows you to build your own patches and for the this set I'm using the Resonator and Granular effects (thx to Mutable Instruments code) on Channel 1 & 2 as a synth source - both controlled via a FADERFOX UC4. A seperate effects chain utilises channels 3 & 4. Its a very versatile pedal made right here in Australia - Highly recommended! Also featuring 1010 BlueBox as a mixer, effects rig and stem player for various sounds mainly controlled via a Xone K2 controller.
Norns / ARC has 4 track playback and granular effects on Drums, Bass, Pads and atmospheric tones.
This set is a Live version of my Breakcore drum inspired 'Break Snake' track."
