Allinaire Strakt SeenSound - Live Generative Video, Eurorack & Moog Minitaur
video upload by Allinaire
"Live at SeenSound / Vitalise Crosspollination gig, Petersham (Sydney) on 23rd April 2022
(Thanks to Mark Pedersen & Brigid Burke - https://seensound.com & https://vimeo.com/chailight )
Allinaire performing as 1/2 of the duo ‘Strakt’ - A live and extended performance mix of the track ‘292.12 Induced psychotic disorder, with hallucinations’ from the album ‘Diagnoses’, available on Blurred.Vision. https://www.blurred.vision
‘Strakt’ is a collaboration between Fremantle based musician and producer -1 and Sydney based Allinaire. https://www.blurred.vision/artists/st...
Allinaire is playing live audio and generating live video simultaneously via a hacked and customised Max-for-Live video patch. All the geometric video is created live in response to the audio and various modulation. Additional prepared and added video (madness head shots) includes Vector Rescanning by Allinaire using an LZX system and an Oscilloscope.
Live video mixing and additional video on the day by VJ ATMM (includes partial treated excerpts of the short ‘Forever’ by Mitch Mcglocklin which uses LIDAR scanning tech)
Audio is produced using a eurorack system including a Pittsburgh Lifeforms primary Oscillator sequenced via the Mac through an Expert Sleepers ES-9, also featuring a Make Noise Morphagene and other modules. Baseline is the Moog Minitaur. Various other sounds and percussion via Mac Ableton devices manipulated and mixed by Midi controllers Softube Console 1 Fader and the Faderfox UC4.
I've been experimenting over the years with many types of modular and hardware setups for live performance - this is a first 'proof of concept' Live set utilising a Laptop (often controversial!) with outboard dedicated gear to handle audio and live video simultaneously which maintains the ability to be creative in structure, composition and live timbre manipulation - hopefully also allowing for the happy accidents that occur when playing live, as well as the adrenaline and fear of total collapse to keep it honest :-)"

ALLINAIRE - Break Snake Live - Poly Beebo & Faderfox UC4
video by Allinaire
"MITL Live set from the Oscillosaurus Ranch at Paterson, NSW in June 2021.
My current Live rig of Norns, ARC & Faderbank 16 has been supplemented by the excellent Poly Beebo Pedal. This incredible device allows you to build your own patches and for the this set I'm using the Resonator and Granular effects (thx to Mutable Instruments code) on Channel 1 & 2 as a synth source - both controlled via a FADERFOX UC4. A seperate effects chain utilises channels 3 & 4. Its a very versatile pedal made right here in Australia - Highly recommended! Also featuring 1010 BlueBox as a mixer, effects rig and stem player for various sounds mainly controlled via a Xone K2 controller.
Norns / ARC has 4 track playback and granular effects on Drums, Bass, Pads and atmospheric tones.
This set is a Live version of my Breakcore drum inspired 'Break Snake' track."

72 knobs, 12 buttons, 30 setups and snapshots: Faderfox's innovative PC12 MIDI controller
Published on Nov 20, 2017 loopop
"Faderfox have released their "New Module" series, with the PC12, a smart, programmable MIDI controller with plenty of power and control.
Faderfox can be found here:
http://www.faderfox.de/pc12.html
Also shown in this clip are the Novation Circuit, Microsoft Surface Pro 4, and stands by Cremacaffe Design."
"PC12 as successor of the PC44 is a universal controller for all kinds of Midi controllable hard- and software.
You can combine two or more NEW MODULE devices to create a large system. The connections are on the right side to allow a back to back placing of two or more devices. Connect two NEW MODULES by a special extension port.
Furthermore there are 4 Midi-ports and one USB-port with various routing possibilities.
It is packed in a alu case with the same dimensions like the famous ELEKTRON devices so it’s a great extension for these devices. But you can use the pot controller also with your DAW like a classical 12-track-mixer.
The device has 72 standard pots and 12 buttons in a 12-track-layout, Various kinds of midi commands like control change, note on/off, pitchbend, aftertouch and program change are possible. You can program every Midi command for every separate control on the device very fast and easily.
Of course you can assign the pots and keys to any of these commands by learning incoming Midi commands, which is the same procedure you know from your software / DAW. The pots work with standard resolution of 7 bit to have full compatibility to any software and hardware instrument, effect and DAW. Use the internal 30 setups to save your individual settings. Backup and restore of all settings by sysex dumps is possible too.
The factory settings are perfect to control music and video software products out of the box if they are freely assignable. So any additional device programming isn’t necessary for many applications.
Some special setups are preconfigured for use with ELEKTRON RYTM and ABLETON LIVE.
Check out this amazing power box and you will get a reliable mate..."

Faderfox SC4 Sequencer Demo
Published on Nov 16, 2014 punkdiscoUK
"Deliberately slow & simple demo to show the multi-trigger concepts behind the SC4 which similar to the RYK M185 sequencer.
Single Pattern with just 4 steps playing : A2, A2, A2, G3
From there, messing around with the step Lengths Track and Repeat Track (for gate repeat modes).
Conventional step sequencer stuff not in demo (but the SC4 obviously does them):
- Linking patterns
- external CC playing
- copy / paste features etc
- remote control featues for transpose / direction etc
- forced key scales
- gate lengths
- pattern nudge
- swing options
- playback directions
- memory details"

Entrospec Iungo Drum Sequence Demo
Published on Jul 16, 2014 Entrospec
"Using Iungo in polyphonic sequencer mode as a 5 part drum sequencer.
The Faderfox MIDI controller sends note data to the Iungo, then out to the Vermona DRM1. Part way through MIDI Thru is turned off so programming new patterns doesn't affect the live MIDI stream to the Vermona.
Iungo is clocked by channel 4 end of cycle from Maths in cycle mode, with a voltage offset to the "both" input controlling overall speed of the clock.
At the end the clock is increased to demonstrate what can be achieved by sending MIDI at up to audio rates from Iungo."
Some info via modular grid:
"Voltage controlled MIDI
Stored MIDI data accessed via cv and gate inputs.
Banks will store up to 16 notes and rests. Each note can have an independent MIDI channel.
Each bank can also store 1 program change message.
5 memory locations to store patches
“Chord” mode outputs all notes in a bank simultaneously when triggered.
“Seq” mode outputs each note in a bank consecutively upon receiving a gate signal.
“Poly Seq” mode runs all 5 banks in sequencer mode simultaneously.
The length of each bank is independent, allowing for more complex sequences to be produced.
Chords and sequences can be transposed via the MIDI input.
Velocity of MIDI data is determined by the amplitude of the gate signal.
MIDI input and output via 2.5mm stereo jack to 5 pin DIN cables. The same format adopted by iOS devices.
141 mm Depth"

MIcro Modular Patches
MIcro Modular Patches from Rastko Lazic on Vimeo.
"On my journey to Myanmar I could not take a lot of instruments with me.
One of the instruments I do have with me is the Nord Micro Modular (http://www.vintagesynth.com/clavia/nordmicro.php).
It is a very small hardware synth and a joy to play and program.
I found it very easy to use as the virtual patching is similar to a hardware modular synth.
After a very short time I had twenty patches most of them self playing but many made to be used with a midi controller, in my case I use the excellent FaderFox UC3 http://www.faderfox.de/uc3.html.
It is really a shame that this synth is not in production any more and I thank Richard Scott (www.richard-scott.net) for recommending me it.
The Micro and the small Make Noise modular are going to be the core elements of my performances this somer in Europe and here in South East Asia.
They make a very powerful package and can fit in a small bag.
I wish you all a nice day here from Yangon

Electric Independence: Ulrich Schnauss
via motherboard.tv
"When post-shoegaze magician – the peerless electronic wunderkind – Ulrich Schnauss invited us to his apartment in London, he specified it would have to be at night due to his predilection for ‘nocturnal’ activities.
We thought that seemed mostly normal for a musician until he came to the door (clad in leather jeans) and dragged us up to his pitch-black attic.
Thankfully all of our Warhol-period Udo Kier fantasy/nightmares were unwarranted the moment we walked into his studio: an impressive collection of synthesizers and effects units used to layer hundreds of manipulated sounds and craft some of the most breathtaking, bombastic records released in recent years.
Ulrich was kind enough to show us some of his favorite instruments and demo the tasty tones from his forthcoming album."
You can find more synth centric Electric Independence posts here. See motherboard.tv for more.
Update via Sonicstate in the comments: "Hi folks, in case your interested in more of Ulrich, he was a guest on our podcast a couple of weeks ago - hope you dont mind me posting the link." Not at all!
