PROBLEM SOLVING UTILITY MODULE | ADDAC System - ADDAC809 Chain Router

video upload by DANIELE

"ADDAC809 by ADDAC System lets you route one source (audio or CV) through 2 different chains of modules, before sending it to an output. In this video I'm going to show you all the things it can do!

0:00 Intro
0:23 Chains connectors
0:32 Buttons
0:41 Chain A (Delay)
0:45 Chain B (Distortion)
0:51 Bypass
1:13 Order
1:36 Dual/Single
2:07 Parallel"

"ADDAC809 is a dynamic CV operated I/O router that allows one source (Audio or CV) to be routed through 2 different chains (of one or more modules) before being sent to an output. Six routing patterns are allowed:

1. IN > OUT
2. IN > CHAIN A > OUT
3. IN > CHAIN B > OUT
4. IN > CHAIN A > CHAIN B > OUT
5. IN > CHAIN B > CHAIN A > OUT
6. IN > CHAIN A > OUT CHAIN B

A practical example is to have an audio source, a delay and a looper. And the question: should the delay be placed before or after the looper? Sometimes you may need the delay to be before the looper as you may want to sample the audio with the delay or sample the pure audio source and apply the delay afterwards.

This small utility module solves this issue on the fly without having to repatch anything."

Buchla Chapter 1 - Music For Peace

video upload by SONICrider "Sound & Vision Lab"

"Chapter one in the Buchla story 'Music For Peace'.

While exploring the first 2 TipTop Audio Buchla Modules (Dual Oscillator Model 258t and Quad Function Generator 281t) in combination with the Soma Lyra FX and the ADDAC 112 3 kind of layers were created:
- The original Buchla sound,
- Granulated parts of that Buchla sound,
- Distored Buchla with some feedback (Lyra FX).

The approach/steps of the arrangement:
- Both Buchla VCO out via a mixer to control level.
- Lyra FX only (input Puchla VCO).
- Manual trigger channel 1 of the Function Generator
- Add 'light' 112 'Buchla sound.
- Drive volume both VCO's.
- Fade out Lyra FX
- Activate Function Generator
- Maximize VCO volume.
- Manual alter channel 2 of the Function Generator (controlling channel 1).
- Building up tension.
- Going back step by step.
- Add Lyra FX 'distortion' and feedback.
- 112 layer low sometimes into the twilight zones.

Enjoy 'Music For Peace'"

New ADDAC ADDAC713 Stereo Discrete Mixer Eurorack Module

via ADDAC

ADDAC713 is the stereo version of our 703 Discrete Mixer. Inspired by Moog’s CP3 mixer, this is a fully discrete analog mixer and it's not, by any means, your standard breakfast mixer, although it can behave like one.

This is a wolf in sheep's clothing. Despite its harmless looks there's a dark snarly soul behind that panel that wants to take your sounds into a realm of gritty gnarly growls.

This new version was initially thought of as a percussion mixer, with mono inputs and panning, to allow placing percussive voices in the stereo field, while keeping channel 4 in mono for low end sources like a kick drum or Bass. In the developement process we slightly changed this initial idea, adding stereo inputs for the first 3 channels, but still kept the 4th channel in mono.

All four [GAIN] controls go to extreme levels, the first 3 channels also feature [PAN] controls.

Feedback is used to overdrive the whole mix. As the control is turned clockwise the sound will be clipped harder until it goes completely off, this happens as feedback is increased the audio bias reference also moves up, at extreme levels it offsets the whole signal upwards until it completely goes above the top rail clipping the whole signal hence the resulting gate effect.

The [MASTER OUTPUT] sets the overall output gain of the mixer, the two leds monitor the audio output signal.

The Soft clipping switch engages an anti-click circuit which adds a low pass before the output, the switch allows 3 states: Soft low pass / Off / Hard low pass

Features:
.Three channels with stereo inputs, gain and pan knob
.One channel with mono input and gain knob
.Feedback/gate knob
.Master output volume knob
.Soft clipping switch
.Two Led Monitors for Left and Right channels

New ADDAC System ADDAC405

video upload by DANIELE

"The star of this video is ADDAC405 by ADDAC System. Most of the things I explain in this video are taken from the manual as I believe it's very well written and easy to understand. In this video I'm just showing a couple of things you can do with this gate/trigger and cv generator, inspired by 'Relabi'."

via ADDAC System

In 2009 John Berndt coined and defined the term Relabi in his essay “Relabi”: Patterns of Self-Erasing Pulse. These are his own words: “Relabi, Def.: The experience of a palpably coordinated plurality of events that appears to be cyclical but simultaneously suspends identification of a uniform pattern, preventing a resolved sense of pulse. Relabi therefore seems equally pulsed and unpulsed at the same time. It is an experiential gestalt, a quality of experience, greater than the sum of its parts (it forms a sustained unity in experience, albeit of a new kind).”
He also makes the question: “Why would anyone want this Relabi experience? I maintain that much of what is exciting in musical forms involves an interplay between the setting up and denying of pulse expectations.”

Inspired by this idea we developed this module that is both a gate/trigger and cv generator that can be freely used to trigger events or act as a complex modulation source. Four Sine LFOs are internally generated, each has controls for gain, frequency and mute(off). These 4 LFOs are then mixed together to generate what Berndt named the “Relabi Wave”. This “wave” becomes a complex bipolar CV source. This ±5v bipolar “wave” can be monitored on the 2 dedicated leds and is also available at its own Output.

Make sure to check the User's Guide for indepth description, working behaviour and diagrams.

This module will also be available as a full DIY kit.

Tech Specs:
10HP
4cm deep
100mA +12V
40mA -12V

ADDAC System | ADDAC403 VC Time Signature Clock Sources

video upload by DANIELE

"ADDAC403 by ADDAC System: 8 independent trigger outputs and an easy way to incorporate standard time signatures in your eurorack modular system, along with the possibility to generate syncopation, irregular tempo ratios and phasing, all at once!

0:00 Intro
0:59 Beats output, beats p/bar and beat unit
1:26 Bars output and even output
1:45 Odds output
2:07 Divider section
2:59 Swing delay section
4:03 Phasin section
4:50 Tuplets section
5:44 7/4 Time signature
6:18 More functions"

"This is our long due Eurorack Clock module, featuring multiple sections for a combined total of 8 independent trigger outputs.

Introducing standard time signature musical notation along with the possibility to generate syncopation, irregular tempo ratios and phasing all at once in a single straight forward unit.

We started by programming an extremely stable digital clock with over time drift compensation and adjustable to any Beat per Minute [BPM] up to 1 decimal case (from 0.1 to 250.0 BPM). Also implemented a Tap Tempo button and Pingable input for syncing to external clocks using either Soft or Hard [SYNC] modes.

The Time Signature X/Y section defined as [Beats Per Bar] / [Beat Unit] and generating 4 outputs triggering at every: Beat, Bar, Odd Beat (1,3,5...) and Even Beat (2,4,6...).

A [PAUSE] button sets the Pause/Resume state of the clock also allowing different sync methods on Resume.

A [RESET] button resets either each or both the Main and Phasing Clocks

A Divider section can be set to any beat division in Linear (3,4,5,6,7,8,9,10) or Exponential mode (1,2,4,8,16,32,64,128)

The Phasing section features a totally independent clock that can run in two modes:
[TEMPO] running at a slower/faster bpm phasing in and out of tempo against the main clock.
[OFFSET] running at the same bpm but offsetted/delayed against the main clock generating a steady syncopated beat.

A Tuplet section allows the generation of Triplets, Quintuplets, Septuplets and Ninelets with adjustable [LENGTH] or Span of the tuplet to any number of Beats from 1 to 16.

4 Modes allow different [TRIGGER] and [MUTE] functionalities: they can run in a loop or one shot mode, [TRIGGER] always triggers/resets the Tuplet and [MUTE] can be set to Gate On or Gate Off. Tuplets always output irregular divisions of the Beat and allow Polybeat generation.

A Swing Delay section allow to delay 1 Beat at [Every X Beats]. The [Delay] knob sets the delay in a fraction of 1 Beat, this section also allows the generation of syncopated beats.

More specific settings can be changed in the [SHOW/MENU], menu functions are labeled in gold.

All sections feature they’re own monitor LEDs.

By default Display shows the current Time Signature status.
Pressing the [SHOW/MENU] button sequentially will display each sections settings.
After 3 seconds it automatically returns to default Time Signature status.

All settings can be saved to a single memory slot, upon startup the memory state will be automatically loaded.

All Knobs and Push-Buttons have their own CV/Trigger inputs except the [BPM] encoder and [SHOW/MENU] button."

Introduction to looping & granular synthesis - With ADDAC112 VC looper & granular processor

video upload by Monotrail Tech Talk

"Today we are going to get started with looping and granular synthesis, using the ADDAC system 112 VC looper and granular processor. An extensive module with lots of hands on and CV control over it’s looper and granular section. The possibility to record and store loops, and using those to build granular textures make it a bit of a workstation for granular processing, with an interesting approach.

In this video I quickly explain the concept of recording loops and using those to create grains. But mainly we go over most of the functions and features of this brand new module. I’d like to make a video with more patch ideas and sound demos in the future, so let me know if you have specific wishes!

That Dirty Tube Filter \\ Gotharman's Little deFormer 3 + Eurorack Modular Synth Jam #TTNM

video by THE TUESDAY NIGHT MACHINES

"My Little deFormer 3's analog filter slots are all occupied, so I'm using Gotharman's Tubaz Eurorack module to add another one :D

The Tubaz filter uses a real low-power vacuum tube to create incredibly crunchy filter sounds. In this video I'm sending the digital LD3 audio through the Eurorack module, while controlling it via the deFormer's CV outputs. The band pass filter signal is then routed back into the LD3 for some granular and delay effects processing :)

How to connect a modular synth to your body with the ADDAC 303 Muscle Sensing Module

video by Bertolt Meyer

"The ADDAC303 Muscle Sensing module brings EMG muscle sensing to the eurorack format. It allows you to control a modular synthesizer with muscle signals that the module picks up with medical electrodes that you can stick to any muscle. I used two of those in my last generative ambient piece [posted here]. I felt that the module doesn't get enough love on YT, so I followed up with an introduction to this quirky module. I explain the overall principle, the best way for electrode placement, and the optimal settings for getting a clean signal."

ADDAC604 - Dual Filter - a little stereo filter that likes a little filth!

Oscillator Sink

"I bought the ADDAC604 Dual Filter module pretty much on a hunch - it fit the form factor and feature set that I was after but I struggled to find a demo so I had to just "trust" that I'd like it based on other filters in the ADDAC range.

So this video is the demo that I would have wanted to find before I made the purchase - hopefully it'll help you out if you're looking to pick up a stereo filter module some time soon!

00:38 - Features
03:20 - Mono Filter Sweeps

26:05 - Spectral Panning with a Single Channel
27:23 - Series Routing for Different Flavours
29:06 - Audio-rate Madness (pseudo-FM and percussion sounds)
32:11 - Final Thoughts"

"While developing our ADDAC105 4 Voice Cluster module we made a new multimode filter to place after the summing mix stage. We were so pleased with it’s sound that decided to release it as a dedicated filter.

To make it more interesting we duplicated its circuitry to be able to use it in a stereo signal path.

To make it more versatile we added a switch to set the working mode from Stereo to Dual Mono where both filters can be used independently.

In Stereo Mode the Left Cutoff is used to control the Right Cutoff.

In this case the Right Cutoff Knob and CV Input are simply bypassed and will have no impact on the Right Channel operation.

This allows immediate sync of both filter frequencies when the Stereo position is engaged.

Optionally there’s a jumper in it’s back that, when placed, connects the Right Controls back to the Right CV control allowing the possibility to control the offset of the Right Channel Cutoff.

Resonance is independent on both Modes and still has to be set manually to match both channels.

Both the Audio and CV inputs are normalled from the Left into the Right channels.
As standard plugging any input to the Right channels removes this connection.

This module will also be available as a full DIY kit.
