Post classical w/ norns shield, Music Easel | Aura and shadow 2025-07-31 by atnr

video upload by atnr

"A piece for piano, monome norns shield, and ‪@buchlausa‬ Music Easel—a post-classical track combining a recorded piano loop, randomly auto-played electronic tones, and live piano performance.

The piano is a YAMAHA CP-88. On norns shield, I run barcode to play back a roughly six-second, single-note piano phrase recorded in advance. The Music Easel outputs random arpeggiator phrases routed through ‪@ChaseBlissAudio‬ MOOD MK II for delay."

ICONIC Conversation with Jeff Blenkinsopp of The Analog Lab

video upload by Iconic Instruments

"This is a conversation with synthesizer genius, Jeff Blenkinsopp, from The Analog Lab (www.theanaloglab.com)."

CONTROl with co-founder Daren Ho makes an appearance at the end.

The video above comes in via an article on Jeff Blenkinsopp recently written up on Hell Gate. You can also find in on The Analog Lab's blog on their website here. Jeff is the man behind The Analog Lab which provides various resources for synth repair. The site is well worth a look.

From the intro to the article on Hell Gate, written by Adwait Patil:

Below: "Jeff Blenkinsopp after repairing the Beatles' VOX Continental organ, last used at their 1966 Shea Stadium show (The Analog Lab)"

"Jeff Blenkinsopp toured with Pink Floyd and Vengelis, repaired instruments for the Smiths and the Beastie Boys, but his greatest legacy might be his willingness to share his craft.

As one of New York's most meticulous and beloved vintage gear technicians, Jeff Blenkinsopp's legend precedes him. A North England native, he began repairing synthesizers in the late 1960s, worked his way into London’s disco scene as a live stage technician, and later took his talents on world tours with English rock giants Sweet and Pink Floyd, and Greek composer Vangelis. In 1978, he moved to New York, quickly gaining the trust and fixing synthesizers for bands like the Beastie Boys and the Smiths, and carved out a home for the nerds whose vintage gear obsessions were about to peak at the turn of the millennium with his workshop Expert Audio Repair Services, or EARS. At EARS, he devised hands-on methods to pass on his knowledge to some of the city’s most beloved musicians, all of whom came to learn from the guy who became Pink Floyd's synth technician at the age of 21.

Blenkinsopp’s career first took off in 1974, when he was working in London as an instrument repairman for General Electro Music. There he was introduced to Pink Floyd, who were looking for a technician, and met the criteria to join the band's French tour: he knew how to take care of a Hammond, and he had a passport. Blenkinsopp had never toured with a band, and now was in charge of setting up Richard Wright and Floyd's organs and synthesizers on a nightly basis. From then, he became a constant fixture for British bands who toured with a hefty load of keyboards, and that’s what initially brought him to New York City in 1978, touring with British glam rockers Sweet. A tour that changed his life."

Synths That Tanked! Top 15 Value Crashes You Won’t Believe!?

video upload by Andy Whitmore

You be the judge. Feel free to comment below.

"๐Ÿ’ฅ The biggest synth value crashes of all time! These once-iconic instruments lost tens of thousands in value—from legendary analog giants to futuristic digital monsters.

You've seen the synths that became priceless icons… but what about the ones that didn’t?

In this countdown, we reveal 15 professional synthesizers that lost the most value from their original prices (adjusted for inflation). From boutique rarities to digital behemoths, these are the synths that hit the market hard—and hit resale even harder.

๐ŸŽน We cover:

Synth name + release year

Original price + adjusted inflation value

Current resale value

Total loss ๐Ÿ’ธ

A fun or tragic fact per synth

Whether it's a Fairlight, Synclavier, or the ultra-rare GX-1, some of this gear once cost more than a house… and now? Let’s just say you could buy one for the price of a laptop.

๐Ÿง  Think you can guess the biggest loser?"

Post classical w/ Piano & Music Easel : Deep Blue Wall 2025-07-14 by atnr

video upload by atnr

"A piece for piano and ‪@buchlausa‬ Buchla Music Easel—post-classical textures where washed-out piano mingles with abstract electronics.

Piano (Yamaha CP-88): Two signals are recorded—a dry output and a second path drenched in deep reverb from a ‪@HologramElectronics‬ MICROCOSM.

Music Easel: Improvised abstract tones with its spring reverb engaged; the output runs through ‪@ChaseBlissAudio‬ LOSSY for additional coloration."

Buchla Music Easel 208r + 218r| Black and Gold

Note: Auction links are affiliate links for which the site may be compensated.

via this Reverb listing

"Up for sale is a Buchla 208r+218r housed in a matching black “Luther” Cosmonaught case.

This easel was hand built by a seasoned professional and is in perfect working order. The 'reverb bypass' mod is in play here so you get a louder, less muddy reverb sound out of the spring. it includes a voltage converter module on the side for eurorack voltage and jack size conversion. This is probably one of the finest renditions of a black and gold easel

there are a few minor cosmetic blemishes, mostly on the 208r - these are from banana cable usage. they are pictured herein, near the period voltage input and one near the decay slider. There’s one up on the top right corner near the screw mount. They are not very noticeable but I am mentioning them and providing photos here in the spirit of transparency. The easel comes with a gig bag for the case, banana cables, banana plugs and a light which plugs into the easel itself. I’m only selling this because I owe some taxes and need to sell some gear. Check my other listings for other polysynths, pedals, and other studio gear"

Forces of Nature - Geysers (Buchla Music Easel Retro)

video upload by PanicGirlVids

"I’m especially fascinated by volcanoes at the moment - and in this case, by geysers in particular. Slow movements, forceful, steady, unstoppable.

A geyser is a rare type of hot spring that intermittently shoots hot water and steam into the air. Geysers form in volcanic areas where specific conditions exist: a heat source (usually magma beneath the surface), a steady water supply (from rain or snowmelt), and a plumbing system of underground channels and chambers. Water seeps deep into the ground and is heated by the magma. As it gets hotter, pressure builds up in the underground chambers until it suddenly forces the water and steam to erupt at the surface. There are about 1,000 active geysers worldwide, making them rare and spectacular natural features.

It’s worth remembering that we live in symbiosis with the Earth and all its creatures - and that we’re not here to rule over anything.

Dub Techno w/ TR-808, Music Easel, microKORG S Mirage in Tokyo by atnr

video upload by atnr

"A track built with the Roland TR-808, Buchla Music Easel, and ‪@KORG_INC‬ microKORG S—dub techno sculpted from delay-soaked synth lines and classic drum-machine rhythms.

TR-808: Kick is sent from the individual out through a SANSAMP Bass Driver before recording; all other sounds leave the main out, which runs into a Boss DD-6 for tempo-synced delay.

Music Easel: Generates soft-attack, long-release tones that feed into a ‪@strymon‬ NIGHTSKY for reverb and filter sweeps.

microKORG S: Plays a MIDI-sequenced phrase with its onboard delay, while additional notes are overdubbed live."
