"Sneak peek of the new Csound-based iOS app by Boulanger Labs, csSpectral. Check out this demo of Takahiko Tsuchiya (Lead Sound Designer) playing violin and Paul Batchelor (SpectralEQ Designer) playing Upright Bass. Their instruments are being processed by Christopher Konopka (Sound/Layout Designer) using csSpectral for real-time acoustic processing and spectral mutation."

Boulanger Labs: csSpectral - Sneak Peak #2
Published on May 30, 2013

"Sneak peek from the studio featuring the sampling techniques from the new Csound-based iOS app by Boulanger Labs, csSpectral. Deepak Gopinath (Lead iOS Developer) is using csSpectral to play back a simple beat and transforms the rhythms into a unique percussion track that morphs beyond glitch. This aspect of the app is well-suited for many applications ranging from advanced sound design for film to a mashup of your favorite track."

CsoundForLive - Csound For Everyone.

"csoundforlive.com

It looks great. It works great. It sounds... beyond great.

CsoundForLive is a collection of over 120 real time audio-plugins that brings the complexity and sound quality of Csound to the fingertips of ANY Ableton Live user - without ANY prior Csound knowledge.

Capitalizing on the design power of Max For Live, what once took pages of text in Csound can now be accomplished in a few clicks of your mouse.

Move a slider on your APC40 and deconstruct your audio through professional quality granular synthesis...

Touch a square of your Launchpad and warp pitch and time with real time FFT processing...

Press letters on your keyboard and create sonically intricate melodies through wave terrain synthesis...

You work with Live.
Csound works with you."

"Wigbert "WigGz" Caro of the production team Dice Motion (dicemotion.com) presents how he has integrated CsoundForLive into his with with Ableton Live."

"In addition to the 120+ plugins created by the CsoundForLive team, developers from around the world are creating their own Custom 6 Packs.

This 6 Pack from award winning Berklee keyboardist and producer Matthew Hines features a range of synthesis tools - from an incredible Organ emulation, to real time spectral processing, to a new form of Cross Modulated Synthesis: Cross Mod FM."

Notstandskomitee Münzviertel Strassenfest 2010 - CSound on Linux

Notstandskomitee Münzviertel Strassenfest 2010 from Malte Steiner on Vimeo.

"Notstandskomitee live at Münzviertel Strassenfest, 19.6.2010, Hamburg. It was windy, cold and wet, few people, monitors kept collapsing, in short: a typical Hamburg streetfest. I expected the worst, a new low in my career, but it was fun and good test of equipment.
Please note the small black netbook which ran the whole show, together with Archlinux and a realtime kernel. Csound replayed the loops from the studio from bigger machines - like Doepfer A100, VSynth, MPC, Machinedrum - , process them and provided synthesis for my solos. Right now I am booking some shows, perhaps Notstandskomitee comes to a place near you."

Bowed String via an Additive Synth on CSound

via the Csound blog where you will find the patch and more details.

"About 12 years ago, someone told me that additive synthesis will never be practical. My initial reaction was, “we’ll see about that.” This person’s background was that of modular subtractive synths, and was quite knowledgeable. From that perspective, I could see their point. Who want’s to take the time to create complex envelopes for each individual harmonic? My mind has often wondered back to this incident."

Csound Splice and Stutter

Full details and download at The Csound Blog
Excerpt:
"SampleEngine is the heart of this piece. It works by triggering discreet notes from within the loop, with the loop offset being determined by input it receives via p-field 7. The offset unit is in beats. Let’s say the loop is 16 beats long. A passed value of 0 plays the first quarter note. A value of 1 plays the second quarter note of the loop, etc.

This instrument is designed to be played by other instruments, rather than being triggered directly by a score i-event"

10-band Panned Equalizer in Csound

via thumbuki in the comments of this post:

"I built a 10-band equalizer in Csound where each band is panned individually, using phase offset lfos similar to the quadrature function generator.

Here's the snippet of code that creates the phase offset lfos:

klfo1 table ( klfo + 0.0 ) * ilength, iwave, 0, 0, 1
klfo2 table ( klfo + 0.1 ) * ilength, iwave, 0, 0, 1
klfo3 table ( klfo + 0.2 ) * ilength, iwave, 0, 0, 1
...
klfoA table ( klfo + 0.9 ) * ilength, iwave, 0, 0, 1

The floating point numbers set the phase for each lfo. Phase is normalized to a range of 0 to 1, so a value of 0.1 equals 36 degrees and 0.5 equals 180 degrees.

The full code can be found here, in instr 112."

You can read more about it on thumbuki and the CSound Blog.

Some Csound bass samples

via cornutt on the Matrixsynth Forum.

"Here are samples of some bass sounds generated with some oscillator code that I wrote in Csound. The code support a variety of sync techniques, several of which are demonstrated here. There are four samples. Each one combines several different waveforms with a sync signal that sweeps upwards in frequency. Each sample is 20 seconds, separated by one-second intervals of silence. The first sample is divided into two slightly different variations."

Title link takes you to an mp3 of the samples.
