Audulus 3.1 Adds Windows and-SURPRISE-Linux Versions, Trial Versions Too

"San Francisco–Prepare for modular synth dominance. With Audulus 3.1, Audulus is now available for Windows and Linux, in addition to Mac, iPhone, and iPad.

'It’s not easy to be multi-platform, but I take pride in offering Audulus on as many platforms as possible,' says Audulus developer Taylor Holliday.

The Windows and Linux versions of Audulus have all the features of the Mac stand-alone version. Audulus for Windows also includes a VST plugin version.

Trial versions of Audulus for Mac, Windows, and Linux are also available. These trial versions have no time limit and can load any patch. To save patches, purchase the full version of Audulus.

Audulus for iOS has also been refined. A new context menu does not require a long-press gesture, making the Audulus UI easier to learn and quicker to use. Support for iCloud Drive makes it easier to share patches.

Audulus is a minimalist modular software synthesizer and effects processor. With Audulus, users can build synthesizers, design new sounds, or process audio. All with low latency real-time processing suitable for live performance.

Audulus for iOS can be used as a stand-alone instrument or in conjunction with Audulus for Mac, for a round-trip workflow between platforms. Begin a patch on the bus ride home and then bring it up on your laptop at band practice later that night - with iCloud functionality, moving between platforms couldn’t be easier.

Audulus 3.1 for iPad/iPhone is available on the App Store for $29.99.
Audulus 3.1 for Mac is available on the Mac App Store for $39.99.
Audulus 3.1 for Windows/Linux is available directly from audulus.com for $39.99. Purchase a single license for both versions.

For more information, visit http://audulus.com."

Linux Sound Design: Experimenting with Ingen, Ring Mod, and Bitwig

Published on Jan 27, 2016 Chris Beckstrom

"Today I realized how amazing Ingen is: run any plugin, connect them however you like- basically a virtual modular synthesizer that can use anything you have installed. You can add as many inputs and outputs as you like, which includes ins and outs from the real world (i.e. sending audio from my modular into Ingen!). This is a quick patch ring-modulating two LFO-modulated oscillators together, sending the output through some delays, then into Bitwig Studio where more delays and distortion are added. I mapped some of the controls to some MIDI controllers and move them in real time."

Odroid--U3 Meets YouRockGuitar 2

Published on May 25, 2015 elohess2

The Odroid-U3 is a Linux based mini computer. The YouRockGuitar 2 is connected via USB MIDI.

This one in via elohess2. I asked him what software he used for the synth sounds and he had the following to say: "'Yoshemi', which is a fork of ZynAddSubFX. I used Yoshemi cause I was frustrated of my spelling mistakes of 'ZynAddSubFX' :-) (Joke). Was only a test to find out which version works better with JackD. Result: both...."

And the video description:

"Session to show that it works very well to use the Odroid-U3 als a software synthesizer audio machine und using the 'toy' YouRockGuitar2 als Midi Controller.

A lot of things to tell about this combination and the Linux Glue, which glues all the parts together.

At the end of the video 25:00 there is a recorded "live" session. Sorry bad audio quality. It was a reharsal session recorded with the build in microphone of my mobile phone. No additional infos here. Only Peter jamming noise...."

Gakken NSX-39 : MIDI playback Test with Rosegarden on Linux

Published on Apr 3, 2014 karenevil·331 videos

Playback starts after 2:19.

"Testing midi playback with Rosegarden on debian wheezy.
This piano sound is generated by NSX-39 with vocaloid voice.
NSX-39 has a micro USB jack and works as a USB-MIDI GM ( General MIDI ) sound generator.

It seems that this NSX-39 is a 'usb midi class compliant' device then no special driver is required, that's why it can be controlled with GNU/Linux.
What did I use for this demo video is 'Rosegarden'.
( Rosegarden : http://www.rosegardenmusic.com/ )

By the way I found this anonymous 'Ave Maria' midi file longtime ago somewhere on the net, thanks to the person who made this midi file :)"

din for Linux

"A collection of drones tracing the famous chinese symbol for yin & yang philosophy, the Taijitu"

yin-yang by din~is~noise

And much more:

"If Puredata and Supercollider are two synths, din is a synth of a 3rd kind.

It forgets history,
To not repeat it.

It doesnt hide analog music hardware,
In digital music software.

You had pulse, sine, triangle and sawtooth,
And went forth and made electronic music.
Now there is just the Bezier curve.
Go make your pulse, sine, triangle and sawtooths.
Or this, this, this and this.

This is nothing new.
Some old men did it in the 60s!
Punched numbers into cards.

Now you edit waveforms in a GUI,

And watch the sound change before your very ears.
Has it got ADSR?
Its got DADSARSADS.

Filters?
Infinite length delay lines.
With Bezier envelope for feedback and volume.

Modulation?
Bezier on Carrier and Modulator.
Eat that Chowning.

Notes?
Notes! Notes! Notes!
Infinite microtones between two tones.

Livecoding?
In Tcl.
Like LISP, but no ((((:-))))

Collaboration?
MIDI. OSC. IRC.

I want two!
Get it while it's free."  Videos on site.

Nick Copeland Bristol Synthesizers Emulations on Android & Linux

Linux apps on SourceForge here [you might remember the page form this 2007 post]. The following are available on the Android Market

"muSonic Sonic-V

This is an emulator of the muSonic 5, a synthesizer originally designed by one of the Moog engineers Gene Zumchek (possibly the real father of modern synths), he proposed then eventually designed and built the prototype Mini Moog, the first fixed configuration portable monophonic. After leaving Moog he created the muSonic who themselves eventually bought the bankrupt remains of Moog and released this synth with a few changes as the Moog Sonic-6. The dual LFO configuration is very rich and there are lots of modulation possibilities as well as direct mix and in this emulator some mild stereo reverb.

Interface zooming can be done either with the trackball (Nexus/HTC have them) or enable multitouch via the menu then tap the screen with two fingers at the same time - this will zoom the interface in/out. If you tap with two fingers but keep them held you can move the screen around. This kind of helps out with the dense graphics.

Patches are saved on the SD card along with factory sounds, there is an export and import option to exchange patches.

The emulator will, per default, attempt to run with a set of options that will give reasonable quality and the lowest possible latency/lag. The quality of the audio can be tuned with the menu options however the lowest possible latency for pretty much all Android devices is currently 42ms, on my HTC Desire it is 70ms. If you understand what this means then the value might seem quite high but the app is still a lot of fun.

"Classic ARP Axxe Synthesizer Emulator

The is an emulation of the ARP Axxe synthesiser, single oscillator, noise, mixer, filter and envelope generator fully emulated in software with modulation. The app supports pressure sensitive touch screens, X/Y accelerometer for pitch and mod wheel, multitouch and zooming interface facilities. The original was a monophonic instrument however the emulator can operate as a polyphonic (duophonic) synth via multitouch when it is enabled. The interface has options for fat-finger, analogue filters and rich oscillators however these will consume extra CPU cycles. The interface also has a full piano keyboard setting.

Interface zooming can be done either with the trackball (Nexus/HTC have them) or enable multitouch via the menu then tap the screen with two fingers at the same time - this will zoom the interface in/out. Tested on HTC Desire/2.2, Emulator hires and lowres. The Axxe is one of a family of emulators."

"Augur-52 Synth

This version of the bristol augur synthesizer is in stereo with a flanger effect to widen out the sound,

This is an emulator of a 80s classic analogue poly synth, the emulator is just dual voice for multitouch. It has dual oscillator, noise, lfo, mixer, filter and a pair of envelope generators. The app supports pressure sensitive touch screens, X/Y accelerometer for pitch and mod wheel, multitouch and zooming interface facilities. The interface has options for fat-finger, analogue filters and rich oscillators however these will consume extra CPU cycles. The interface also has a full piano keyboard setting.
There is an emulator 'Unison' switch which will play both voices on a single note to pad out the sound.

Interface zooming can be done either with the trackball (Nexus/HTC have them) or enable multitouch via the menu then tap the screen with two fingers at the same time - this will zoom the interface in/out. "BME-700 Synthesizer

The is an emulation of an esoteric German synth known as the BME 700, very few in existence and using a unique dual filter design, one tracking the envelope and one resonating at a fixed frequency. The envelopes are also interesting, there are two A/R or A/S/R that can be mixed to create ADSR and other ingenious combinations.

The app supports pressure sensitive touch screens, X/Y accelerometer for pitch and mod wheel, multitouch and zooming interface facilities. The original was a monophonic instrument however the emulator can operate as a polyphonic (duophonic) synth via multitouch when it is enabled. Linux Audio Conference

'Notstandskomitee live in Toronto, Canada

YouTube Uploaded by herrsteiner on Nov 7, 2010

"Excerpt from the current set, live at The Garrison Toronto, the 11. October 2010. I performed that track there the first time. I created the software with Csound which runs loops from the studio and provide live synthesis for the solos. It runs on a Linux laptop.
The visuals in the background are actually the screen I see with the custom Csound gui and controller data dump. I am about to create visuals with Pure Data and Gem but there are some problems with the OSC communication between the two applications which I hope to resolve till the next gig on 11. November 2010 at Rote Flora Hamburg."

AlsaModularSynth - higher fermentation (ambient) 10:52

YouTube via Redled72 | August 30, 2010

"Ein Ambient Track, produziert mit dem "AlsaModularSynth", einem USB MIDI Keyboard & Linux. Der Patch findet sich am Ende des Tracks, welcher weder editiert noch nachbearbeitet wurde."

via http://alsamodular.sourceforge.net/
"AlsaModularSynth is a realtime modular synthesizer and effect processor. It features

* MIDI controlled modular software synthesis
* Realtime effect processing with capture from e.g. "Line In" or "Mic In".
* Full control of all synthesis and effect parameters via MIDI.
* Integrated LADSPA Browser with search capability
* JACK Support

The documentation and many commented example patches show how to use AlsaModularSynth.

QMidiArp is a MIDI-Arpeggiator.

QMidiRoute is a MIDI router and filter utility.

QMidiControl is a virtual MIDI fader box.

QAMix is a configurable mixer for ALSA. The GUI description is defined in an XML file. Default interfaces for standard AC 97 cards and Soundblaster Live are provided. QAMix can be controlled via MIDI. Any number of MIDI events can be bound to any mixer control.

QARecord is a simple multithreaded stereo recording tool. It can record both 16 bit and 32 bit WAVs. By using a large ringbuffer for the captured data, buffer overruns are avoided. QARecord can also be used as JACK client.

KAconnect is a Qt version of the aconnect utility for the ALSA sequencer system.

If you would like to write some audio software yourself, this ALSA Programming Howto may get you started. Some audio filters using the LADSPA plugin interface are found here."

Notstandskomitee Münzviertel Strassenfest 2010 - CSound on Linux

Notstandskomitee Münzviertel Strassenfest 2010 from Malte Steiner on Vimeo.

"Notstandskomitee live at Münzviertel Strassenfest, 19.6.2010, Hamburg. It was windy, cold and wet, few people, monitors kept collapsing, in short: a typical Hamburg streetfest. I expected the worst, a new low in my career, but it was fun and good test of equipment.
Please note the small black netbook which ran the whole show, together with Archlinux and a realtime kernel. Csound replayed the loops from the studio from bigger machines - like Doepfer A100, VSynth, MPC, Machinedrum - , process them and provided synthesis for my solos. Right now I am booking some shows, perhaps Notstandskomitee comes to a place near you."

LoveLiveElectronic

LoLieL live performances @ ART-ZAVOD festival

YouTube via LoveLiveElectronic. sent my way via Дмитрий Морозов.

http://www.myspace.com/loveliveelectronic

"First Russian Live Interactive Forum for live performance and D.I.Y. approach in different fields of experimental technological arts (mainly experimental electronic
music, video-art, interactivity etc.). Founded by several free composers and scientists on a base of the Theremin-Center (www.theremin.ru) in 2008. The
Theremin-Center - is the first and the oldest studio of electronic and electroacoustic music in Russia. It is situated in Moscow State Conservatory and is an official
part of it. It bares the name of Leon Theremin, who was working at the studio, at the time it was just a laboratory of electroacoustics, and then till his last days.

LoveLiveElectronic (aka LoLiEl) community does regular live events, where artists perform experimental electronic music and video-art often using computer
algorithms, programmed by them-self, or hard-equipment, built by their own. We also consider it good to modify any commercial soft and gear in a HACKING-
paradigm with a purpose of creating something new and unpredictable. LoLiEl also supports so-called "aesthetic of false" which core is in misusing everything,
what you can misuse. And of course we are fond of old soft-wear and old hard-wear, which is now became outside of the commercial market, as well as free-soft
and linux-based developments. We insist on performing live, when AN ACTION PRODUCES EFFECT. We feel bad about using prerecorded samples, but really
appreciate REAL-TIME SAMPLING. We insist on NOT using phonogramms at all. We also produce free work-shops on bending electronics and programming in PD,
Max..MSP, CSound, etc.

We celebrate originality and pray creativity. We feel pulsating spirit of innovational revolution. SELF-programmed, SELF-built, SELF-destroyed.

Special thanks to Jon Appleton for good ideas of logo-design. Spiritual thanks to Andrey Smirnov (head of Moscow Theremin Center). Special thanks to Patricia
Thompson (the doughter of Vladimir Mayakovskiy) for encouragement of the futuristic event in the museum of Mayakovskiy."
