Tomorrow Never Knows - Circuit Bent Beatles' cover - SMMP

video upload by SMMP

"Little cover of a classic yet obscure Beatles' tune, one of my favourites!

It's been recorded using only circuit bent instruments (apart from guitar break and vocals), listed at the very end of the video!

A nice FM Digital synthesiser to which I added an analog VCF which really enhances it to be used for pads, nice leads and even some cool basses.

There is also an LFO which controls the VCF allowing rhythmic patterns and pulsating pads!

It's great polyphony and the possibility of modify in real time some FM parameters make it a very versatile instrument, specially when paired with fx such as delay and reverb!

Zerosum Inertia - Cenotaph

video upload by NOISEBUG

https://www.noisebug.net/

"Alesis HR-16 (circuit bent) running through a @zerosum_inertia CENOTAPH.
Medium-Slow triangle LFO going to the CV input of the CENOTAPH. Drums dry on the right channel, CENOTAPH in the left channel.

The Cenotaph is device meant for processing modular level audio signals.

Line level or guitar level signals will work but need to be fed into a signal amplifier to get signal to modular levels before entering Cenotaph.

If low level signals are used the results will sound like a bit crusher and be less stable and predictable which sometimes sounds cool,

but overall it is recommended to stick with modular level signals like VCO waveforms straight out of the VCO.

The audio signal is fed into two 6CB6 pentodes then into a 4046 PLL and 4013 Divider.

Switchcraft 1/4” jacks and NOS military surplus tubes used.

Hand wired and through hole assembly, PCB manufacturing, enclosure drilling and metal work all done in USA.

For most stable results the left knob should be full clockwise/pointing to the right when third/right switch is in UP position. If center switch is in UP position then it doesn’t matter where left knob position is.

It is recommended to start with all 3 knobs in full clockwise position and all switches down.

Left knob controlls PLL level.

Left switch controls PLL behavior mode.

Center knob controls PLL frequency.

Center switch routes PLL INTO divider when up,

PLL and Divider are in parallel when center switch is down.

Right knob controls divider level.

Right switch selects divide down by 4 when down, divide by 2 when up.

Only use 12V DC Center positive + power source providing at least 1500 mA.

Use the power source that comes with Cenotaph."

"Welcome to Bad Gear, the show about the world's most hated audio tools. Today we are going to talk about the Philips PMC 100 Composer. S-CAT Circuit Bent Casio MT-40 with midi clock.

video upload by Space Cat Audio Technologies

"Here we have S-CAT Circuit bent instrument number 1075. We have been modifying instrument like this for some 15 years now. To celebrate the end of an era, we have added midi sync along with our usual 26-mods for a customer in Germany. Let me know what you think, as this is, as far as we know, the only Midi clocked Casio MT-40 in the world. We may consider supplying the midi retro-fit as a diy kit. :)"

Update:

Test run on the S-CAT midi synced Casio MT-40 Sleng-Teng and a Roland TR-909. Full audio. :)

"We have added midi clock input to the Casio MT-40, this is just an off the cuff jam to test that it’s running properly. :)"

CIRCUIT BENT PS2 - LSD: Dream Emulator / B.L.U.E. / GTA VC - Soft Modded, Internal SSD (FMCB)

video upload by LoFiFuture

"Taking on a limited number of these circuit bent PS2s for 2022! https://www.lofifuture.com/storefac96...

And for all the DIYers out there, I'm currently editing the tutorial one how to circuit bend your own PlayStation 2!

This modification starts with a full disassembly and deep clean of the PS2, the optical drive is removed in favour of an internal HDD and a memory card running Free McBoot. (Free McBoot is a custom firmware that runs on a memory card that resides in memory card slot two of the console. It introduces various features to the PS2, the main one being the ability to run game backup ISOs from an internal HDD, via ethernet or from a USB pen drive)

Once the optical drive is removed 23 toggle switches are mounted on the top of the console to control the circuit bends a long with a RCA video out and 3.5mm stereo audio out omitting the need for the original Sony AV cable. 14 of the toggle switches are wired into the traces between the Emotion Engine (EE) and Graphics Synthesizer (GS) chips on the PlayStation motherboard. These corrupt the 3D data running into the GS before they are sent to the video output encoder.

9 of the toggle switches are wired into the Sound Processing Unit (SPU) RAM for some circuit bent audio effects. all 23 of these switches are wired to the same "bend bus" meaning that when two or more switches are in the "on" position they are connected together. Connecting the audio data bends to video data bends results in chaotic and mesmerising cross modulation.

Every game is effected differently by the toggle switches. Some are easy to crash with certain switches. Some games will take everything you throw at it and then some! It all depends on how the game you are trying to glitch out was programmed and how it utilises the hardware we are mercilessly forcing into a corrupted state. It helps to make a "switch map" for any game that like to crash when things get to glitchy, this was you can easily rule out what does and does not work for a particular game.

For example, running the PS1 copy of LSD: Dream Emulator produces some incredible effects but likes to crash when I flick one particular section of switches into action. On the other hand, GTA: Vice city will run with every single toggle switch on and revert back to completely normal visuals.

Includes:

-Circuit Bent PS2 Console (PAL or NTSC, select from the dropdown)

- Aftermarket PS2 controller

-Internal 120GB HDD + Network/HDD card"

Pink Painted Circuit Bent Yamaha PSS-140 w/ Patch Bay & Line Out - Vaporwave Aesthetic

Note: Auction links are affiliate links for which the site may be compensated.

via this auction

"Hand painted & circuit bent PSS-140. Modified with a data patch bay, data interrupt switches, vibrato/glitch body contact, quick reset button, and line out.

Totally functional and in good condition. Its hand painted, so the paint job isn’t perfect (a couple smudges and some minor wear, see last few photos) but nothing major. The battery compartment is in good shape, and the battery cover is included! I only removed it for the photo to show the condition inside.

All of the original PSS-140 features are intact and unaffected when the data bend switches are turned off.

Comes with the keyboard, 2 patch cables, the original box that came with the PSS-140, and a short manual for operating the data switches & patch bay."
