"Gently used LXR-02, includes original box and power supply as pictured.

Two companies - Sonic Potions and Erica Synths joined efforts to develop a drum machine that would stand apart from the masses and the LXR-02 was born. The LXR is a full-fledged digital drum machine with an integrated sequencer. Its sound engine provides 6 different instruments, each with over 30 parameters to tweak, producing sounds from classic analog emulations to crunchy digital mayhem, thus offering some of the most extensive sound design capabilities found on a drum synthesizer. Its compact, durable design and clear user interface make it ideal for live gigs."

SUPERBOOTH 2024: Erica Synths - ResonantEQ - Nightverb

video upload by sonicstate

"At Superbooth 2024 we met up once again with Girts from *Erica Synths, *who gave us a glimpse of some new things, namely *ResonantEQ*, a Eurorack module which first appeared six years ago, but is now revitalised, and *Nightverb*, a desktop reverb unit.

ResonantEQ is intended to inject some new blood into the Eurorack ecosystem. It is an hybrid analogue and digital module, with an analogue resonant eq with digital control over the parameters, and CV control over each band allowing for a wide range of possible applications, including turning the EQ into a multimode filter.

*Nightverb, *developed in collaboration with Netherlands-based 112dB, has a custom algorithm intended to avoid emulating any classic reverbs but instead produce a reverb with its own character and fully hands-on control.

Nightverb Available: June 2024. Price: 450 Euros

ResonantEQ Available: soon. Price: Around 300 Euro"

Erica Synths Introduces Nightverb and ResonantEQ

"We at Erica Synths in collaboration with 112dB have developed a unique new hardware reverb effects unit. We focused on the musical aspect of the effect – extremely long decay tails are possible without losing harmonic integrity and since multiple parameters can be adjusted at once, notes can be played individually and held in chords, pitch-shifted at a whim or used to create massive, ambient textures.

Introducing the Nightverb – a stereo reverb with a unique and musical custom algorithm, save/recall functions for all parameters, all in a sleek aluminum case to aesthetically match our lineup of desktop units."

GRAPHIC RESONANT EQUALIZER
We realized it’s about time to expand the Erica Synths Graphic series of Eurorack modules with a unique sound shaping module. Introducing the Graphic Resonant Equalizer – a 10-band resonant equalizer with a fully-analogue signal path and digital control over individual band levels.

This new architecture gives an unprecedented level of control for shaping sounds with the possibility of saving presets, randomizing band levels, applying clocked modulations and even allowing for the module to act as an unconventional multimode filter.

The CV inputs for all bands and the clock input allow for integrating the Graphic Resonant Equalizer into any Eurorack system. Whether you’re looking for a delicate sound design tool for balancing out the frequencies in your patch to sound just right or an experimental scream machine that can mangle any sound source into uncharted territory, the module does it all – a versatile secret weapon for your rack!

Features:

10 band analogue resonant equalizer
Digital control over band levels
CV control over each band level
Configurable resonance loops (one or several bands)
EQ, Lowpass, bandpass, highpass and notch filter modes
Patch memory
Clock input for clocked modulations or patch selection
Spectrum analyzer mode
An optional expander for hands-on control of each band’s boost/cut
Module width – 20 HP

Arp87 delay on synth: Simple yet interesting, flavorsome yet mild

video upload by Richard DeHove

"No matter how many high-end delays you have there's always a place for a small and simple mono. The Walrus Audio Arp87 has a lot going for it: obvious operation, five delay modes, good sound, small footprint and tap tempo. Against that the modulation is a bit seasick and it's not cheap.

It's also rather Roland-esque in that it won't let you do anything too weird. It won't go anywhere near 100% wet, it has no delay time knob and it won't self-oscillate.

This was bought with my own money and it was annoyingly expensive. So nothing's perfect and perhaps this is just another stop on the never-ending delay pedal quest.

Playing Synthesizers...with a Guitar?! Jamstik Visits the Perfect Circuit Showroom

video upload by Perfect Circuit

"Jamstik makes a line of wildly fun guitars—but hey, you might be wondering...why does a synth shop like Perfect Circuit give a heck about a guitar? Well, for one, all instruments are beautiful—and two, Jamstik makes MIDI GUITARS. They function perfectly well as standard electric guitars, but they also use proprietary technology to translate your guitar playing into MIDI data that synthesizers understand.

Not only that, they use a clever mapping of detected audio data in order to generate MPE (MIDI Polyphonic Expression) data...making them a nuanced and quite powerful and expressive means of interfacing with MPE-capable synthesizers.

Jamstik recently came by our Burbank, CA showroom to see what they could do plugging their guitars into our synthesizers. With the expert guidance of our very own Jacob Johnson, they narrowed in on the Groove Synthesis 3rd Wave, Roland Juno X, and, of course, a Eurorack modular system featuring Tiptop Audio's new ART-equipped modules.

Creating a soundscape from pure resonance

video upload by Richard DeHove

"Who needs oscillators when you have self-oscillating resonance? Here the Erica Synths Acidbox III with high resonance is fed into a Fairfield Circuitry Roger That, then to a Gamechanger Audio Light reverb pedal and finally to the Erica Synths Zen Delay.

The Acidbox is configured so the right output feeds into the control CV input, but the box itself is getting no external audio, just it's own resonance.

The Roger That pedal provides a little extra texture and noise but is not an essential component. I tried all sorts of different pedals in this position including distortions, drives and bitcrushers but almost all of them had very little effect. I think there simply wasn't enough for those pedals to chew on.

The Light pedal is mainly on the 'harmonic' setting and I sometimes switch it to feedback. The Zen delay is on the tape ping-pong setting. Filter is on highpass in case things get out of hand and the drive knob adds some good grit.

The input gain on the Acidbox and Zen were fundamental to the sound. Both were usually quite low but if you want something with more noise and distortion it's there if you just pump those up.

A few years back I had a Lyra-8 which I always say is a great personal meditation machine. Yet imo it doesn't compare to this setup in terms of flexibility and expression. Here you can go high and delicate or low and cone-shaking, peaceful or disturbed all in a few knob turns. And what big glorious knobs they are.

I do believe this type of playing is personally very therapeutic. If I was an indulged academic I think it'd make an interesting research project to look at the brainwave state of someone engaged in prolonged resonant drone knob twiddlings. Might there be a connection between the played harmonics and brainwave frequencies and that in certain moods you'd gravitate to harmonics of that emotional state? Or would your playing perhaps reduce agitated brain frequencies toward a more dreamlike state? Who knows.
