Gibson Maestro Rhythm n Sound G-1 Guitar Synth

"Here is a super clean Maestro G-1 that was just found in the attic of an old music store. The owner of the store said that's his handwriting from 1968 or 9 on the price card. He forgot about it in the attic storage until this last month.

I have fully tested and played with it for several hours, it is fully functional, smells amazing, sounds amazing, and is a real stunner! Instant Beach Boys! The tracking is amazing, the sounds are fresh today, cool drums triggered from pick attack of the guitar, an immaculate octave down string bass, a nasty fuzz octave down, incredible filters, tons of control, infinite possibilities and will work with any 1/4" input."

Maestro Rhythm N Sound G-1 Analog Guitar Synthesizer by Gibson 1969

Note: Auction links are affiliate links for which the site may be compensated. via this auction

"If you're looking at this you probably already know what this is. If not, this is a very cool, vintage guitar synthesizer effect designed for guitar (but works with other instruments, too). Basically, you can use your guitar to trigger these analog drum sounds and/or bass down octave, with or without fuzz. You can blend in the guitar with its 3 "Color Tones" or have it just play the synthesized sounds. Very cool, vintage box in really great condition.

Comes with original, fully operational case. Original foot switch is in perfect condition and is included."

via the listing: "Maestro by Gibson Sound System for Woodwinds Model W-3. Serial # M-05402. This is a cool old effect system developed for woodwinds, but sound incredible with guitar, bass, and keyboards (synthesizers) too. Includes w-3 unit, foot pedal and the case. It's in perfect working condition! I had the 1/8" input converted 1/4" so you can plug a guitar or bass right in without an adapter. This is the only version with the footswitch and connector into the machine. All light switches and pots work..."

Guitar Loop Processed by 200e & friends

YouTube Uploaded by dkimcg on Jan 27, 2012

"A simple guitar loop goes through a bunch of processing with the Echoplex sending midi clock to the Machinedrum. The sends on the Mackie go into the Buchla which does nothing without an input signal. No clock on the Buchla, just catching envelopes to run pulses here and there."

Gibson Clavioline France Selmer ondioline synthesizer

via this auction

"1950's Made in France Clavioline. I suspect this was a Gibson model since the 6 pin plug on it matches the Gibson schematic. These were made under license by many companies in many countries. Probably most famous for that 'Telstar' lead sound, also used on the Beatles 'Baby you're a rich man' (that weird Indian sounding oboe sound) and in modified form on 'Runaway'. I don't know that anyone is using one of these today in music outside of tribute/cover bands. Who knows, one of these may end up on an upcoming Daft Punk or Air record.

Physical condition: paint has lots of little scratches and dings as can be seen in the pictures but nothing is broken, all keys are in good shape -no cracks -just some scratches that will polish out, all toggles are in good shape and toggle, volume lever is present and its guts look clean, tuning knobs on either side are present and turn easily and all the hardware holding it together looks like the original hand made French Cad or Nick plated stuff. All in all a nice unit to restore or just clean up and use.

Functional condition: All the cloth bound wiring looks to be original without any cut wires. All capacitors are the original 'Tiny Chief' items and will likely require replacement. All tubes are in good shape -though untested. All the keys feel like they're doing what their supposed to. As far as using this, these were designed to be mated to an amplifier that provided power. I don't have the amp. I was going to build a break-out box that powered the unit, conditioned the signal coming out, had a regular volume pot and a 1/4" instrument jack. Not a big job for a competent DIY tube electronics type.

Box will be 26" x 18" x 8" and weight about 18 pounds."

Rick Powell Collection - Gibson Maestro Sound System for Woodwinds

via this auction

"This unit is part of the Rick Powell Collection. Rick was a musician, a major producer and a contemporary and close friend of Bob Moog, among others, and often received original units from manufacturers to test in the studios...

This is a vintage Maestro Sound System for woodwinds (It allows a choice between clarinet and sax at the input). It's a "sort of" synthesizer that will take the input from your woodwind pickup and allow you to select from a bank of sounds that it emulates as you play. Seems really simple to operate, which is good because we don't have the manual for this. So let's say you pop in your clarinet and select Baritone Sax... it comes through the speaker an octave lower with a nice growl. Same with Tuba, etc. It's in fine condition - really good condition. You can ALSO do combos of sounds as you play. Very interesting piece of gear. These are the sounds:

Contra, Fuzz Tone, Cello, Tuba, Bass Sax, Bass Clarinet, Bassoon, English Horn, Oboe, Muted Horn, Natural Amp"

Vintage Gibson W2 Maestro Woodwind Guitar Synth Effect

via this auction
"The sounds that come out of this thing are absolutely insane. Most unique effects box I have heard. The beauty is you can plug any thing in to the 1/8" input jack. ANYTHING Woodwinds (what it was designed for) Guitar, Keyboards, Bass, and even drumbeats and mixes. Just some adjusting of the sensitivity knob. It applies the early synth like filters with organ bar style controls. Best described as an octaver/fuzz/synth with tremolo. Any musician or engineer or DJ could benefit from the unique tones to set them apart. Super rare only manufactured in 1967."
