"This video demonstrates how to get clean waveforms out of your PreenFM2.
In short: turn off your operators and keep one that will provide the needed shape.
In this video I show how to get nice simple clean waveforms out of your PreenFM2.
I am using a MIDI keyboard.
First part shows how to get 1 voice mono, no Velocity and no Glide. This is done only for the video as Oscilloscope doesnt show it that clear in poly settings.

Then I start turning off operators by switching the OP() button.
OP1 Shape: Sine. OP2 Shape: Off. OP3 Shape: Off and so on.
Once all the operator shapes are Off I can start playing only OP1 and hear its waveforms.
This is very handy if you start learning FM or want to have simple waves.

You still have the ADSR in action.

NB: PreenFM2 Eurorack module outputs eurorack levels, dial down the volume for line level use."

It’s in excellent condition and sounds great. It comes with a USB cable and a thumb drive that is connected internally to hold patches, etc"

"I got this preemFM2 synth about a year ago. I got it in hope it will help me to get deeper into FL synthesis, and it worked in the end. It is a nice little synth with a software editor, I definitely recommend it for those who want to get info FM and prefer hardware.

I'm using it together with BlueARP plugin and BlueARP DM, check live performance in the end of the video. Contents:

PreenFM2 - 20 min. Exploration and Randomization - No talking

"Note: For those wondering, I do not personally find these sounds particularly beautiful or useful. I have many hundreds of sounds that I've programmed that are very beautiful (to me) - typical fm sounds. This video is more exploration. Perhaps you need to be interested in sound to understand but though I found very little in this 20 minute exploration useful or beautiful it is still a very fun and interesting process to go through.

Interesting points:

00:30 - saving a sound
10:30 - slight mods to make an interesting randomization more useful
12:00 - bit crusher filter examples
13:45 onward - some harsher drum and bass type sounds
17:50 more programming
18:30 onward - some pad type sounds

Most of the session is use of the randomizer to explore new sounds.

Each time the mod button (or any of the buttons on the left side) is pressed, the sound is randomized according to the four nob settings. With the Arturia Keystep (off screen) I play the current sound a bit. When I find something promising I stop and save it to go back to later. I believe you'll find the workflow fast and easy.

Later on I do some editing to make randomized sounds more useful. In particular you can see the workflow to turn operators on and off to the source of parts of the sound you may not like.

A bit of the fun is lost watching someone else do this but if you are into FM synths I think you'll enjoy the PreenFM2."

Phase 2019.1 Novation Summit Polysynth with Oto Bam Reverb

"I improvised this piece a couple of years ago whilst jamming with the Preen FM2 through the Schulte Compact A Phaser clone I built (hence the name Phase) I've always wanted to make a video of it with Summit so I relearned arrangement last night and here it is.

I tried to get this Summit patch as close as I could to the original Preen sound. This is not too far off at all, especially with the Dual filter in parallel LP modes this is remarkably not too far off the Schulte phaser sound on the original too.

I also took the plunge and got an OTO Bam.... WOW!
The reverb on Summit is wonderful, so clean and precise, its one of my favourite aspects of the synth but with the OTO Bam it is totally different, completely lush and a ton of character. Just beautiful

I may even do another video playing the Preen patch for comparison. If you want to see that leave a comment below.

First prize to those that spot the visual easter egg as well ;o)"

"This is the third song with the preenFM2. It's a 14 voice 4-part multitimbral polyphonic DIY FM generator with 28 FM algorithms from 3 to 6 operators, 7 default and 6 user waveforms, filter, arpeggiator, etc.

I used for the recording the following FX chain:
preenFM2 - Alesis Ampliton - Pigtronix Echolution 2 Deluxe - GFI System Specular Reverb 2, Roland TR-8 (for sidechaining). Depending on the recorded track some FX are deactivated

The signal went through a Presonus StudioLive 16.0.2 into the PC via USB for recording. To create the complete song I recorded consecutively several stereo tracks. The final song was then mastered with a bit EQ and compression on some tracks and some limiting on the master track."

"I'm lucky enough to have my hands on a Dreadbox Hypnosis all the way from Athens.... and what a box it is!
Here it's being fed a favourite patch from the Preen FM2 which is controlled by the SL MKIII. Pushing self oscillation to see what Hypnosis can do on its own too. It gets pretty Psyche in parts with which I firmly concur.
