BlueARP DM + Ketron SD1000 Performance "Japanese Dream"

video upload by graywolf2004ru

"Live performance, created and sequenced entirely on BlueARP DM, all sounds come from Ketron SD1000 using only its internal FX. Kurzweil is used just as a midi keyboard here.
What is BlueARP DM - you can check it here:
https://omg-instruments.com/wp/?page_...
The coolest thing is that BlueARP DM stores all the program selects, volume levels and effect parameters as various CC/sysEx messages on the AUTOMATION page, which it sends to the synth on project load.
I need just to turn on SD1000, connect it to BlueARP DM, load the project - and it is ready. This is a perfect compact setup I wanted to test for a long time.
While making this performance, I found some bugs in BlueARP DM midi implementation, it sometimes swallows notes in a dense note flow, especially those coming as THRU. Here it showed up because all 8 instances generate notes on the same MIDI channel. I'm fixing it in the next firmware 2.8.3b (it will be BlueARP DM only update), hopefully Dec 2025.

PS. Opening sequence is the patch called 'Shamisen', it is a Japanese stringed instrument, which gave the name to the performance )"

BlueARP DM + Roland SC88, 'øneheart x reidenshi snowfall' cover

video upload by graywolf2004ru

"Recreation of the track 'øneheart x reidenshi - snowfall' on BlueARP DM and Roland SC88. Everything was sequenced on BlueARP DM (not even using the ctrl app). Also BlueARP DM holds all the program changes, sysEx messages like volume and effect levels for each part (via AUTOMATION functionality).

The audio narration is taken from • The Silence Of The Snow - Winter Poem
The Silence of the Snow, a winter poem by Ruth Velenski
I stretched it a bit, aligned to the music and added some delay & reverb.

This is my first try of this famous 'slow & reverb' genre, hope you enjoy )"

BlueARP DM in the studio p.1: driving SR-909 drum machine

video upload by graywolf2004ru

"In the studio with my partner STEDA Electronics, who makes SR-909 drum machine kits, TR-909 replicas: https://diystudiotoys.com/products/st...

BlueARP DM sequences drums, using SR-909 as a sound module and using 'trigger probability' settings, so there is a slight touch of randomness in this rhythm, which is impossible to do with 909's own sequencer.

Enjoy. BlueARP DM is still available from the same store https://diystudiotoys.com/products/om...

BlueARP DM mk.1 Hardware Arpeggiator (introduction video)

video upload by graywolf2004ru

"Introducing BlueARP DM mk.1, 8-channel advanced arpeggiator, the result of 6 years of development. This is not a full review, but more an introduction video covering the basics, to give the idea of what it is and what it can do.

Find more information on the product page:
https://omg-instruments.com/wp/?page_...

BlueARP DM is available for order from my partner's store:
https://www.sssrlabs.com/store/bluear...

Contents:
00:00 Basic overview
01:12 Usage scenarios
02:40 Editing patterns
06:30 Interface overview
10:55 Control app
12:37 Musical examples"

"What is BlueARP DM
BlueARP DM (DM stands for Desktop Module) is an advanced 8-channel pattern arpeggiator with a core derived from BlueARP plugin (which has been around since 2012). This is a result of 4 years of development and 1 year of beta-testing and fine-tuning. It is a boutique device, hand-manufactured in small quantities. Currently available in two colors: semi-transparent blue and white with black engravings.

BlueARP DM delivers 8 independent arpeggiators (or instances) in a single box; each of these instances is essentially a separate BlueARP plugin. It shares the core logic programmed in C with the plugin, but delivers rock-solid MIDI timing, thanks to its powerful Cotrex-M4 ARM CPU, and some extra stuff like CV/Gate connectivity to modular synths. BlueARP DM has plenty of connectivity for such a small box.

2 midi input and 4 midi output ports;
USB A port accepting USB-MIDI controllers;
4 analog outputs acting as CV or gates;
analog input to accept pulse clock from the modular;
SD Card to store and recall presets;

BlueARP DM a self-contained hardware device: you can edit, save and recall arpeggio patterns on the unit without a computer. Its interface a ‘old-school’ and it was inspired by early-days music computers and hardware sequencers. Still there’s enough space on two large 256×64 pixel OLED screens. For example, this is a pattern editing page."

SM Pro V-MACHINE running BlueARP and retro-review

video by graywolf2004ru

9:32 on reminded me of Depeche Mode's See You. Different sequence of course, just similar vibe.

"This is still a cool piece of hardware, despite of its limited power. I wish they make a more powerful version some day.
When I first used V-Machine 10 years ago - I tried to run BlueARP inside it and it worked after a few tweaks to the code. I didn't post it back then, so now I decided to revive that experiment.
To do this in 2021, I had to bring back Windows XP compatibility for 32-bit version of BlueARP (it was quite a challenge) but finally it works!
I don't think it has lots of practical usage in 2021, but still V-MACHINE is a cool artifact of its time and running BlueARP + Synth1 inside it makes it even cooler.

“Reissues” – Ft. Prophet 10 rev 4 - Arp 2600 FS - MINIMOOG - MS-20 and more – Powered by BlueARP DM

video by Marshal Arnold

“Reissues” – Ft. Prophet 10 rev 4 - Arp 2600 FS - MINIMOOG - MS-20 and more – Powered by BlueARP DM

Tonight, I perform some live Trance using a combination analog and digital reissued synths I own. The track is my original work, and features the Sequential Prophet 10 rev 4, Korg ARP 2600 FS, Moog Minimoog Model D and the Korg MS-20 Mini. I am also using a Roland TR8s, a Roland D-05 Boutique and several Roland Cloud drum machines and synths as well.

The cool thing here is that a good chunk of the sequences and patterns are driven by the amazing BlueARP DM MK.1. A hardware Arpeggiator and Pattern Sequencer developed by Oleg Mikheev, AKA Graywolf. I have been fortunate to help Oleg with beta testing the BlueARP DM and have been itching to get it more integrated into my workflow. This was a great opportunity to combine a bunch of wonderful analog and digital reissued synthesizers with this super cool BlueARP hardware.
I have a few backing tracks all played live on the V-Synth (which is multitimbral.. how many of you knew that? Lol) triggered with the Ableton Push and one instance of Omnisphere also adding an almost string like swell.

Below is each synth and what it was doing in this track-

Hardware Synthesizers and Drum Machines:

Korg MS-20 Mini – Main Bassline (Sequenced by BlueARP DM)

Moog Minimoog Model D Reissue – Secondary Bassline (16th note pattern sequenced by BlueARP DM)

Korg ARP 2600 FS – FX (the long sweep at the start of each 2 measures is the 2600, this also is triggered with BlueARP DM)

Prophet 10 Rev 4 – Main Lead (played in real-time by hand, including filter cutoff modulation)

Roland D-05 Boutique – FX (a short dry sweep heard at the start of every 2 measures, triggered in Ableton Live)

Roland V-Synth – Secondary Synth Lead and backing track on second timber. The Lead is played in real-time by hand including filter cutoff modulation, but the backing pattern is triggered on MIDI chnl 3 of the V-Synth sequenced by BlueARP DM.

Roland TR8s – The thicker clap that comes in is from the TR-8s – this is sequenced in Ableton Live

Soft Synths:
Roland Cloud

TR-909 for kick, Crash, clap and High Hats (Sequenced in Ableton Live)

TR-808 for High Hats and snare crescendo (Sequenced in Ableton Live)

Jupiter 8 – FX - A rapid stepped riser you hear at the end of every 2 measures (Sequenced in Ableton Live)

System 8 – another synth lead, heard at the beginning of the change right before the Prophet 10 comes in. (Sequenced with BlueARP DM)

Omnisphere 2.6 – Ambient type sound.. hard to explain, almost like a cello swell or something.

I think that’s all folks lol. Enjoy, thanks for watching!

How does the Waldorf Kyra Sound? - 11 Custom Patches [No Talking]

Published on Nov 10, 2019 Marshal Arnold

"How does the Waldorf Kyra Sound? - 11 Custom Patches [No Talking]

Tonight I play through 11 custom patches I've created with the Waldorf Kyra VA Synthesizer, with no talking. All sounds were created from scratch on the Waldorf Kyra starting from Init. All effects are from the Waldorf Kyra itself, no external processing was done, these are single timber patches performed in real time. All sounds from the Waldorf Kyra have been recorded via the USB connection to a Windows PC into Ableton Live @ 4800kHZ."

Waldorf Kyra - 6 Part Multi - "Maximum Effort" [Full Track]

Published on Oct 22, 2019 Marshal Arnold

"Tonight I debut a 6 part multitimbral tune created with 6 timbers from the Waldorf Kyra streaming via 8 channels through the USB connection into Ableton Live. All 6 Kyra patches are custom patches made by me. I used percussion from the Roland Cloud including the TR-909 and TR 808. I also used a moded kick from Kick 2 and a single synth line from Omnisphere 2.

For arpeggiators I used the BlueARP plugin. Effects were part from the Kyra and part 3rd party effects. Some Kyra synth timbers were routed into Ableton dry and layered with delay, reverb and sidechain within Ableton.

This performance was done to demo some sounds and abilities of the Waldorf Kyra in a studio setting, I hope you enjoy the Kyra demo!"

BlueARP HW mk1 rev6 demo "Riding on new wave"

Published on Sep 22, 2019 graywolf2004ru

"Showing BlueARP DM unit, mk.1 rev.6. No major changes, mostly button arrangement (hopefully this is the final button arragement).

It's 100% hardware performance using:
1. BlueARP DM (desktop unit)
2. Novation Nova
3. Vermona Mono Lancet
4. Korg Electribe S mk.II

BlueARP sends midi clock to Korg ES and Nova. Mono lancet audio is routed via Nova's input, so I apply chorus from Nova, works nice."
