This Is Not RocketScience | Fenix IV Jam | Wobbler2 First Patch

video upload by Cinematic Laboratory

"A few weeks ago I had the pleasure of visiting Stijn & Priscilla from TiNRS. They hide their company secrets in plain sight, so they're not easy to find between all modules made by Stijn for personal use. The Wobbler2 was on the verge of release, there's a collab between TiNRS and Making Sound Machines (a Looper) and a collab with Error Instruments (White Rabbit). There's also a reverb on the way and I hope they follow my suggestion to have a reverse reverb on it. But that seems to be true rocketscience...
I had a lot of fun making this video.

The Fenix IV is better than I could ever guess, but unfortunately it's sold out forever. Let's hope some of its 31+ components make it to eurorack. The Wobbler2 is a good start!

01:33 Fenix IV jam with Stijn (and me)

TiNRS Wobbler 2 Complex LFO, Apollo View Allscillator and Prototype FX

video upload by Making Sound Machines

"Finally carving out some time to play with a couple of brand new eurorack synth modules that have arrived at our doorstep!

Our friends at This is Not Rocket Science have finished their Wobbler 2, successor to their original Wobbler complex LFO, and it's a module that keeps on giving. It lets you seamlessly morph between a number of inventive waveforms, like self-phasing, twang and pendulum, and shape, attenuate and invert the result on two outputs.

And equally exciting is Apollo View Modular’s awesome Allscillator, a great sounding analog oscillator that offers a number of cool waveshapes like Shark fin and PWM Saw, and modulation options like soft sync. Best of all it's available as a DIY kit from Thonk which means with some soldering skills you can build your own!

We took the opportunity to test both modules with prototype circuits of some of our upcoming modules, a line of analogue shaping, saturation and distortion FX modules that will be available prebuilt and as DIY kits - more on that soon!

In this patch, we use our Stolperbeats drum sequencer to sync TiNRS Wobbler 2 to a septuplet shuffle. It is delivering triggers to a prototype of our drum voice on kick and snare, as well as Befaco's Burst for a sneaky delayed upbeat into a zap, all with some crunchy proto FX for good measure.

Allscillator provides the waveforms patched through This is Not Rocket Science's Switch utility. From there the audio is routed into our prototype FX, modulated by Wobbler 2's self-phasing LFO and phase shifted to produce the stereo effect. Finally, we use TiNRS' Ardabil to scale and offset CV for some extra frequency control.

MAKING A MODULAR SYNTH FOR TOOL • DANNY CAREY

video upload by Peter Grenader

"I am Peter Grenader - the designer, curator and sometimes sound designer for Danny Carey's Toolbox, the modular system used live with Tool (Chocolate Chip Trip).

I recently did a huge overhaul and expansion of that system and this video details that journey.

SUPERBOOTH 2022 - Wobbler 2 - This Is Not Rocket Science

video upload by sonicstate

"This Is Not Rocket Science showed us the Wobbler 2 which takes the LFO function and adds the ability to turn it into a drum voice.
Using the excellently name Twang mode and audio rates, you can get kicks through snares to perc FX, hats and claps. Coming in a few months they don;t have a price for it yet.

Utility Minute: This is Not Rocket Science (TiNRS) Switch & Ardabil

video upload by Making Sound Machines

"In this patch, we use This Is Not Rocket Science's Eurorack utility module Switch to send a stereo signal to three different effects - Endorphin.es' Milky Way delay, Happy Nerding FX Aid reverb, and a Touellskouarn filter. We then use Switch to switch between the characteristics of a filter."

Utility Minute: This is Not Rocket Science (TiNRS) Ardabil

"In this patch, we route a synth voice using This is Not Rocket Science's Eurorack utility module Ardabil. We’re sequencing a Befaco evenVCO with This Is Not Rocket Science's Tuesday, and using their Edgecutter as an envelope. We then add some movement, transposing the sequence with XOR Freestylo. Finally, we add vibrato using TiNRS Wobbler complex LFO."

This Is Not Rocket Science Introduces ARDABIL + SWITCH at SUPERBOOTH

via TiNRS

"This Superbooth we can announce two new TiNRS eurorack modules:

ARDABIL and SWITCH – both are interesting utility modules that will enhance any system.

Ardabil

ARDABIL is a block of connections which you can weave your signal through

this modules has precision adders, attenuverters, offsets, (inverted) buffered multiple outputs and VCAs that are all connected

Switch

SWITCH is a delightful little module that adds a layer of choice to your system

it has three choices on two paths, times two

that you control with supersatisfying clonky switches

Coming soon!

We are at the golden prototype stage with these modules
(meaning these are the ones we are going to produce)
and we hope to do the run later this year and have them available to you in December.

The ARDABIL will be EUR 200 and the SWITCH will only be available as a set with the ARDABIL for EUR 250
Coming to your favourite synth stores and our online shop

Details on each:

ARDABIL
utility module
Our Ardabil shows you the thread of your signal in one integrated design.
The overall pattern is composed of six functional elements in rotational symmetry. The basic design is relatively simple and the elements are well-balanced. Visual richness is added with contrasting background colours in the Danzer filler pattern and multiple large yellow knobs.

Precision adder
Your thread starts with two CV inputs that add together without changing their scaling.
Attenuverter
You can plug in any CV and let the knob scale your CV up or down -1 to +1 before it is added to your thread.
Offset
With this knob you can add a fixed -5V to +5V to your woven signal.
Buffered multiple outputs
Threads into three buffered outputs; one of which has an LED that lights up when there is a positive signal. The fourth jack is a buffered inverted output with a LED that lights up when there is a positive signal (which is a negative signal in the other three outputs).
VCA
The CV input controls the volume of the audio input into the output. The CV input defaults to the signal from a buffered output.

The entire thread runs:
Buffered Outputs = Precision adder + Attenuverter + Offset
Inverted Output = Buffered Output * -1
VCA Output = Audio * CV

Ardabil has second thread running independently upside down alongside it.

AVAILABLE DECEMBER 2021
Sales price 200 EUR incl. taxes
comes with 5 rocket patch cables.
Combo with our Switch sales price 250 EUR

Switch Utility module

Choices, choices, choices…

Two independent dual gang switches with three positions that add a layer of choice to your system. A double double on-on-on.

You can patch up to six things and select two at a time. Twice.
Every switch selects one out of three signal paths for both paths.

This Switch module is completely passive and will have no effect on the signal you run through it.

Very satisfactory clonk-clonk-clonk Alpha lever switch we also used on our Fenix IV.

RELEASE DECEMBER 2021
only available as a set with our ARDABIL for 250 EUR
