Teaching Synthesis with Bullfrog XL - Part 5 : The EG (Envelope? LFO?)

video upload by Quincas Moreira Music

You can find all parts in the series here.

"Fifth Installment in my series of in depth guides for teaching synthesis and sound design with the Erica Synths Bullfrog XL synthesizer. This is a deep dive into the EG, the Envelope Generator... which can also act as an LFO!

Intellijel Tangrams: What is the Pulser?

video upload by Intellijel

"The Pulser circuit is a unique part of the Tangrams, inspired by the EMS Synthi.

In this video, we give a quick explanation of how it works, followed up by 3 patches that use it in different ways. Essentially, the Pulser sends out 2 sequential gates, triggered by a Start input. These gates have time control parameters (T1 & T2) that can be modulated with CV. You can assign either envelope to either pulse, and it's also possible to cycle the circuit. All this leads to complex, evolving and organic modulation.

t-quadstrip - First look and tutorial

video upload by soundmachines

"The t-quadstrip is finally here!
The long awaited successor of the LS1Lightstrip, will help you in thousand ways.
Record an automation, loop it, play it, attenuate or invert it... and multiply this by four!"

Check with dealers on the right for availability.

t-quadstrip is the obvious evolution of our award-winning LS1lightstrip.

Now you can have four independent lightstrips engines, with an extended maximum recording length of 20s.

Bring life to your patches with free running or resettable custom drawn modulations.

Features list :

The t-quadstrip four CV outputs can be attenuated or inverted with the dedicated four knobs.

NEW: 2 Reset Inputs (the first for lanes 1-2, the second for lanes 3-4) allows to use the recordings as custom envelopes, from snappy for percussions, plucks and basses to super slow for smooth pads.

3 classic modes: LIVE, HOLD and REC Modes.

NEW: 3 REC behaviors. Recorded automation playback can be set to be:

-Free running

-Looping with reset function (reset via trig in)

-One-shot mode (triggered by reset in)

Only lanes 1 and 2 have a dedicated GATE output signal.

Features:
•Four channels CV recorder and modulator
•Attenuverter for each channel
•Looping, One shot and Hold modes
•4 CV and 2 Gate outputs
•Up to 20 seconds automation recording time
•2 grouped reset inputs
•Current draw: 150 mA (+12 V) / 20 mA (-12 V)
•Width: 8 HP
•Depth: 23 mm

Circuit Monostation controlling Mother 32 & DFAM

video upload by HardtekStudios

"This is an explanation on how the Circuit Monostation is controlling both the DFAM & Mother-32 using only CV & Gate. Not a new concept. I just never see anyone using the Monostation as a controller for CV gear. I hope it provides some inspiration."

Intellijel Atlantix Demo: An SH-101 with bells on

video upload by mylarmelodies

"Here's a demo of the Intellijel Atlantix, a complete 101-inspired eurorack modular voice, plus its optional expander, the Atlx. I'll rapidly explain the main features and differences between this and Atlantis, and then explore it musically in a series of acid jams, sequenced by Metropolix (and Z8000), Sealegs for Atlantix reverb and delay, and more.

Tiptop Z8000 is used to transpose Metropolix, and I'm making use of Metropolixes dual outputs to sequence Atlantix and Intellijel's standalone Cascadia at once. Intellijel Sealegs provides dedicated reverb and delay on Atlantix. ALM Cizzle is used at certain points for creating chord sounds, fed into one of the Aux inputs of Atlantix.

Drums are mainly System 80 880 (another Canadian classic), running in serial through two DIYRE Colour Palette 15ips cards for warmth and compression, plus Roland TR8, and the Atlantix sound samples I made, running in the Soundforce Samples II module. Effects are the Alesis Quadraverb on Cascadia, H3000 doing some occasional weird pitchshifty zingy sounds, and Alesis Microverb II on stereo with of the kraftwerk zaps. Desk is a Midas Venice 320!

Intellijel hired me to make a demo of Atlantix - thanks to Intellijel for both giving me the opportunity to show off another wicked module, and for supporting the channel 🙌"

292t as a resonant filter | Buchla & Tiptop Audio Tips & Tricks

video upload by Stazma

"Today let's see how we can turn, "patch program" for the Serge heads around here, the 292t into a resonant filter / lowpass gate.
We'll do it using the 207t and 257t to stay inside the TT / Buchla family but I'll also show it with the Goma Pro from Black Noise and the Aranea matrix mixer by Ritual Electronics."

Instruō - cèis [2] Overview

video upload by Instruō

"The Instruō cèis[2] is a fully analogue voltage controlled ADSR envelope generator. The ADSR function generator is the model pioneered by the East-coast mindset and is extensively used in subtractive synthesis patches. The cèis[2] gives the ability to externally control the attack, decay, sustain, and release stages of the envelope while also emitting trigger and gate signals for each segment, offering maximum versatility from a classic tool.
This version [2] revision brings additional flexibility and control through a completely redesigned logic extraction circuit for the segment gates, envelope re-trigger input, and a precision throughput for voltage controlled slew limiter capabilities.

• LED button for manual control and indication of output CV level
• Fader and CV control over all 4 segments
• Gate output per segment
• Fader LED for segment stage indication
• Gate/Trig modes which can force completion of the Attack duration when triggered
• Hold mode for sustain segment lock for CV slew use
• Combined trigger output which fires when there is a change in segment
• Variable envelope response shape from linear to exponential

Making Modular Musical: Quantizer Tips & Tricks (feat. Omri Cohen + Shakmat Bard Quartet)

video upload by Perfect Circuit

"We've all heard it before: 'That's cool, but can you make MUSIC with that thing!?'

Modular synthesizers are notoriously good at all manner of sonic chaos—but with some practice and some clever techniques, it's easily possible to turn your Eurorack system into a source of cascading, gorgeous generative harmonies. It. can be as harmonious (or discordant!) as you want it to be. One of the most important tools for wrangling the chaos and making it 'musical'? Quantizers—an important tool in any melody-oriented modular artist's toolkit.

In this video, our friend ‪@OmriCohen-Music‬ shows us some of HIS favorite tips and tricks for generating harmonies and melodies with modular synthesizer—all focused around the spectacular Shakmat Bard Quartet quad quantizer. Buckle in...there's a lot to learn!
