PPG Waveterm A and Wave 2.2 Wavetable Synthesizer from the year 1982.
The Waveterm is the heart of the legendary PPG system and based on an old german computer called Eltec Eurocom II with Motorola 6809 processor.

- 8 bit Sampling for the WAVE 2.2
- sequencer / event generator
- storage of sounds on 8" disc
this second WT-A demo video shows a few samples from The Waveterm A library, sample edition and resynthesis. You hear only pure waveforms, no sounds."

Jasuto YUMI:synth - Bowed String Simulator Now Available
"YUMI:synth is the worlds first realistic sounding bowed string simulator for iOS. All sound generation is completely synthesized, absolutely no samples are used.
You can play two strings at once (at different locations on the scale) and bow manually or automatically. The scale system allows you to quickly define all the playable notes.
Also included are two high quality stereo effect units: ping-pong delay and reverb.
You can easily save/load presets, and backup your presets via iTunes.
Finally, there's an interactive help system that allows you to get info on a control once it's touched."

I gave YUMI:synth a quick try and I have to say it is a great sounding app. The added delay and reverb, along with subtle control settings allow for some truly haunting and expressive sounds.

"There are 4 octaves on the keyboard. The inclined desk is divided into the following functional sections: Modulator, Generator #1, Generator #2, Mixer and Amplifier. They give one a possibility to synthesize a broad spectrum of sounds and to change sounding at any time. There are 3 internal audible signal sources in the instrument: to broad-ranged of the Generators with changed form of oscillations and a noise generator for creating a non-musical sounds such as wind, surf, whine, etc. Possibility to connect an external audible signal sources to the synthesizer is provided for (e.g. guitars, electropianos and electroorgans). Sounds of different external sources are combined separatly in the mixer in any ratio. There is a filter in the synthesizer with cutoff frequency control and resonance to change colour of timbre of audilble signal over a wide range."
