Free Ableton Rack #17: AfroDJMac FirecRACKer Rack

YouTube Uploaded by AfroDjMac on Jul 19, 2011

"This weeks free Ableton download was made entirely with a recording of fireworks from the 4th of July on Long Island, NY. I put the sample into a granulator synth in Max for Live, and then sampled that with Sampler (and Simpler!) in Ableton. There's a nice textured pad/keys sound, as well as a dangerously ferocious bass sound. I tried to get something fierce a few weeks ago with the Fender Feedback Rack ( http://bit.ly/freesynth15 ) but the results were unexpectedly (yet pleasingly) mellow and smooth. This time it's different, this bass sound is ruthless if you ask me.

Pipes

YouTube Uploaded by organfairy on Jul 19, 2011

"For some years I collected old organpipes with the intention of making some kind of instrument out of them when I had enough. But I have come to the conclusion that it is a bigger task than I first imagined.
Therefore I handed them over to a friend who has an experimental band who are always looking for odd instruments. Maybe they can make something out of them.

But before I handed them over I recorded some samples of them. After some small adjustments I took the best of these and transferred to the little Yamaha VSS-30 keyboard with build-in sampler. Then I made a small melody where I used the sampled sound of the pipes.

The other instruments I used was Yamaha HE-8 organ, Korg Rhythm 55 drum machine, and Roland JX-8P synthesizer."

227e Envelope Follower meets Machinedrum

YouTube Uploaded by dkimcg on Jul 19, 2011

"Sweet Dreams and Beautiful Worlds left me feeling too soft.

So I read some Nietzsche, listened to some Motorhead, put down my sippy cup, and made this patch.

Machinedrum running the show and heavily processed by frequency shifting. Buchla slaved by an envelope follower and an unruly slave 250e that gets smacked into sync by the master 250e which is addressed by the envelope from the MD. T-Resonator spices added. Who says it can't do sublte..."
