Published on Apr 10, 2015 OfficialTMR

"Critter & Guitari are makers of amazingly enjoyable audio machines. We have long been enamored with their Pocket Piano, so when the opportunity arose to have our very own Critter & Guitari instrument, we leapt at the chance. In the world now exists an instrument and amplifier designed specifically for Third Man Records - a 3-octave keyboard synthesizer "Septavox" and a 3-knobbed "Terz" Amplifier, both made in the U.S.A. The sounds and tones of the instruments were selected specifically for us, and of course, they come in black and yellow. These are not only instruments of enjoyment, these are instruments for professionals as well. Critter & Guitari designs its products with the notion in mind that they should please anyone of any age and any musical skill level, and the Septavox and Terz are no exception. "Using a synthesizer Arduino shield from Critter and Guitari (http://www.critterandguitari.com/), I constructed this enclosure so I could use this unique keyboard on my upcoming tour."

PocketPiano shield for the arduino and NastyBass sketch

Uploaded on May 28, 2008 Johan Larsby·85 videos

"A PocketPiano from http://www.critterandguitari.com/
and one Arduino. The first one soldered together from the kit I got it in then it's connected to the Arduino which is loaded with a small program I wrote. The program is creates a square pulse whose pulsewidth can be modulated by one of the knobs. Another of the knobs are controlling the very simple glide algorithm.

Much fun to be had!

Note the following auction does not mention Critter & Guitari, but the Pocket Piano kit below takes you to a page with the second video above.  I discovered the top video searching for more info.  I'm curious how this compares to the final released and enclosed Critter & Guitari Pocket Piano we are all familiar with.  Note the number of button keys are different.

Critter and Guitari on eBay

"Website: http://critterandguitari.com/bolsabass

The Critter & Guitari Bolsa Bass synthesizer features six modes of rich, elemental bass sound, a sequencer and full MIDI capabilities.

The six synthesis modes are:
Circle Ramp
Sawtooth Ramp
Analog Style
Filter Envelope
FM Pad
Bass Delay

The sequencer lets you quickly create bass lines with the touch of a button. You can even record and playback knob adjustments for things like filter sweeps and changes in delay time or tuning! With MIDI IN and OUT jacks you can synchronize your sequences with other devices. The Bolsa Bass also sends and receives note messages so you can use it as a sound module or simple controller.

The entire keyboard may be tuned over a 1-octave range by turning the knob second from right. Volume is controlled by the right-most knob. The function of the remaining two left knobs depend on what mode is selected. The synthesizer modes provide elemental monophonic bass sounds, great for all kinds of musical scenarios. From classic filter sweeps to simple and pure tones, lush FM, and even a stretchy tuned delay which makes great string-like drones.

Critter & Guitari New Kaleidoloop

via Critter & Guitari

"Our recorder/looper with mic input, 3W output speaker, and battery power for portability is back with the following newness:

Now has six playback modes. It ships with three speed manipulation modes and three effects. Playback / effect modes are customizable! Modes are coded in Pure Data. Users can create their own modes or upload modes shared with the community.

Looping continues during recording so you can build up layers of sound with just one Kaleidoloop. Smaller form factor: just as fun, just as loud - but more portable.

USB-C Power
The new Kaleidoloop is perfect for all kinds of recording situations, exploration, and experimentation. Use it in the studio or on the go with battery power!

This animation from the original Kaleidoloop doesn’t show the new features such as different playback modes, additional controls, or the ability to re-record the playback, but the spirit is the same!"

Open Source Critter & Guitari 201 Musical Synthesizer - Kickstarter!

video upload by Critter & Guitari

via Kickstarter

"We’re Critter & Guitari and we’re happy to announce our newest synthesizer: the 201! If you’re familiar with our other musical instruments such as the Pocket Piano, Organelle, Bolsa Bass, or Kaleidoloop, we hope you’ll see that the 201 fits right in with them: the 201 is fun, portable, and packed with a medley of musical magic!

The 201 is nearly pocket size, but don't let its small size fool you! Under the hood is some powerful circuitry that will allow you to explore your musical ideas quickly and easily. Let's take a look...

Sounds

At the heart of the 201 are six sound engines providing a wide range of sonic texture. Use the shift key to select an engine.

There is a little bit of everything: chiptune style waveforms, analog style filters, drum samples, realistic physical instrument models, and even a human vocal synthesizer.

Use the three center control knobs to further explore the sounds. Dial in the right amount of sustain, or adjust the tone. Or turn the 'surprise' knob if you are brave:

Patterns

Play directly on the keyboard or turn on one of the pattern generators. From simple octave arpeggiation to randomizing polyphonic patterns you will be inspired by the notes coming out of the 201! Use the first control knob to set the pattern's tempo.

The pattern generators also work great for creating drum beats using the drum samples!

Sequencer

If you like the way something sounds, recording it is just a button press away!

There is a handy metronome that you can play/record along with. When the sequence is playing back you can endlessly change the pattern and synth engine. When you get it just right, hit the save button. You can save 'unlimited' sequences (well... not really unlimited, but many thousands).

Connectable

The 201 wants to be friends with all your other gear! It works great with guitar effects pedals and amps.

With MIDI in and out you can control other synthesizers with the 201, or the other way around.

A USB-C connector lets you easily move files on and off the instrument.

Open Source

Critter & Guitari is committed to making musical electronics that are open platforms. Like our Organelle and EYESY instruments, the 201 is built entirely with Open Source software.

Inside, the 201 uses a combination of Pure Data and Faust musical programming environments. Users are invited to modify or create new sound engines!"

Bolsa Bass - A Quick Demo/Review

Published on Feb 21, 2016 Anonymous Animal 2

"Finally picked up a Critter & Guitari piece and it's this little hot pink number. It's very straightforward and not too deep for the tweaking, but I love the low-end it can put out, along with the small but very effective selection of sounds. I thought I'd just make a quick video cycling through all 6 different voices and offering some info/opinions on them.

Thanks for watching!"

New Critter and Guitari Melody Mill Eurorack Module

"The Critter & Guitari Melody Mill is a note generation module for Eurorack modular synthesizers. It contains a keyboard, CV outputs, CV clock input, built-in arpeggiators, a sequencer, and MIDI capabilities. The Melody Mill brings the fun of the Pocket Piano to modular setups! With the Melody Mill you can:

Use the CV output to control oscillators
Connect your MIDI controller or computer into your modular setup using the MIDI input
Play notes, record and playback sequences and arpeggios on your favorite modules
Convert MIDI clock into CV pulses
Clock the arpeggiator with an LFO for strange melodies
'Hold' notes for drones
Connect the built-in square wave oscillator directly to a filter or an amp
The Melody Mill generates 1-Volt per octave, trigger, and gate control voltages. These signals are used to trigger other synthesizer modules. Notes may be played on the built-in keyboard or received via MIDI. The notes may be used directly to generate the CV signals, or fed through one of the five arpeggiator modes first. Adding to the fun is a hold button and a simple sequencer to record and playback notes. In addition to the CV outputs, the Melody Mill also outputs MIDI of the note it is generating.

A ‘smart’ arpeggiator clock selects a clock source depending on what is connected to the Melody Mill: CV clock input, MIDI clock, or internal clock (controlled by the 'Rate' knob).

The six modes are:

Single Shot
Up Arpeggio
Down Arpeggio
Pyramid Arpeggio
Alternator Arpeggio
Random Arpeggio
Melody Mill Manual PDF - English

Dimensions: 7.56“ x 5.03” x 0.9”

Shipping Weight: 1.5 lbs."
