(MU) Frequency Central
(MU) Frequency Central feat. Massive Modular Bundle: osc sync, PWM, Keystep histrionics, the works
2 x System X Oscillator
System X Lowpass Filter
System X Dual VCA
System X Dual ADSR
...which together forms our classic MU Massive Modular Bundle!
Well, I was going to program a sequence into the fabulous Arturia Keystep https://www.arturia.com/keystep/overview (accept no imitation), but soon realised that I was having far too much fun just wiggling and jamming out, so I hit record - the rest is history.
The patch is quite interesting, as there are two VCAs available, I've patched sawtooths via VCF and VCA, and pulses directly to the second VCA. There's a negative ADSR output patched to the second VCA, so the PWM'ed sound fades in as the VCF and VCA sound fades out.
As you will already know, these lovely VCOs feature onboard LFOs which I'm making full use of for a bit of vibrato, PWM sweeps, as well as that huge oscillator sync modulation.
Processing is via MU Stasis Leak (off camera) for some huge delay action.
If you have read this far please comment 'Huge Monster!'"
(MU) Frequency Central feat. Little Melody, Raging Bull, System X Oscillator, Stasis Leak and more!
"Finally got around to producing a MU modular video. This one feature the following Frequency Central MU modules:
Wave Runner
Little Melody
System X Envelope
System X Oscillator
Raging Bull
Stasis leak
I'm using the Boss Dr-55 (bottom left) as a master clock only. The clock is patched to Little Melody, System X Envelope, Wave Runner and also Stasis Leak (via a clock divider).
I've set up a little riff on Little Melody which is being played by the System X Oscillator/Raging Bull/System X Envelope synth voice. I'm occasionally toggling between two modes for some variation.
System X Oscillator's sawtooth and pulse waveforms are patched into the audio inputs of Raging Bull. I'm doing some manual tweaking of it's octave rotary switch. There's also a bit of fat creamy PWM going on
To modulate Raging Bull's cutoff, I'm using Wave Runner in it's sample and hold mode to modulate, System X Envelope, the triangle output of System X Oscillator, as well as some manual tweaks and twists.
System X Envelope is patched to Raging Bull's 3rd CV input, thus controlling both VCF cutoff and VCA openess(?!)/closedness(!?).
Stasis Leak is set to long delays, and is synced to the rhythm via a clock divider (off camera).
If you've read this far, please comment 'Fat and creamy'."

New Frequency Central Wave Runner LFO in 5U/MU
via Frequency Central
"Wave Runner is a multi-waveform sync-able LFO based on the Electric Druid TAPLFO2D family of code, but with some significant additions and improvements. The WAVERUNNER 1 PIC and code is exclusive to Frequency Central and was developed specifically for the Wave Runner, and is not compatible with similar modules.8 waveforms:
sawtooth
ramp
pulse
triangle
sine
noise
sample and hold
stepped triangle/sawtooth/ramp
All waveforms can be skewed using the Distort knob, as well as control over pulse width of square, and distortion of the cyclic waveforms, this get you control over Noise freq as well as bitcrushing, bitcrush of S/H down to 1 bit for random triggers.
Tap sync input, for syncing to whatever. Wave Runner measures the last two incoming pulses and syncs itself to these. Multiply knob allows for Wave Runner to run at x0.5, x1, x1.5, x2, x3 and x4 of the incoming sync pulse. Freq is from stupid slow (0.025Hz) into low audio range (50Hz).
The module also features Level CV input to control the absolute output level of the LFO.
Price: £150 GBP plus shipping

Frequency Central Florian Synthesiser - lovechild of Roland and ARP, birthed by a mad Englishman!
video upload by Frequency Central
"Here's your first look at Frequency Central Florian Synthesiser – what if a Roland SH-2 had a modular baby with an ARP Odyssey, but the midwife was a mad English scientist?
Florian is our first dual VCO synthesiser! The name is a tribute to Florian Schneider-Elsleben, who passed the same week that we conceptualised this synthesiser.
Florian features the following sub-modules, all behind a single 42HP panel:
2 x XVCO, our legendary discrete VCO based on the Roland 100M design
Sub oscillator offering -1 octave square, -2 octave square, and -2 ocatve pulse
Digital ring modulator, taking VCO1 and VCO2 as it's X and Y input.
Voltage controlled filter offering lowpass, bandpass, and highpass responses, based on Roland 700 multimode filter
ADSR based around AS3310 chip, offering normal and inverted outputs as well as CV of level
ARP influenced VCA with ADSR/gate/drone options
ARP influenced A/R generator with looping option
LFO1: triangle
LFO2: saw/triangle/ramp with sync option"

Frequency Central feat: Asteroids - exorcise your arcade stylee!
video upload by Frequency Central
"Here’s a quick demo showcasing a few uses for Asteroids.
The Asteroids on the left is allowing audio from Radio Music to pass when button #1 is pressed. Button #2 changes the station of Radio music when pressed.
The Asteroids on the right button #1 is being used to trigger Cosmic Background which is producing electronic percussion sounds. Button #2 is being used to extend Cosmic Background’s release time by applying 5V to it’s release CV input.
The audio in Radio Music is actually snippets from previously uploaded Frequency Central YouTube videos – can you spot which ones? State 700 is just being used as a mixer.
The Gnatophilidae Oxfordii is just there to intrigue. If you’ve read this far please comment 'When will that whacky Gnat module be available please please please?'"

scorbie - Over Hang 2 - 1 (modular synth)
Published on Jun 23, 2014 scorbie·49 videos
"Experimenting with my latest Frequency Central & Steffensen modules.
Hard at work are:
Frequency Central's
Loop/Env Generator, Trans Europa and S/H Noise
modules irritating The Maths as it tries to be cool.
FC's Continuum Phase Shifter is getting rattled by the other
bits in it's range.
The Frequency Central SystemX Oscillator provides arpeggiated
bass duties going through the FC Raging Bull, not forgetting the
FC range of mental LFOs Waverunner and Ultrawave also
confusing matters, and really pissing off the Doepfer Xtreme filter.
It's also worth mentioning the main VCOs at the heart of this
mayhem are a pair of Steffensen Oscillarps, having their FMs and PWMs insulted by FC, along with it's ADSR
companion The Envelarp.
They are all being pumped through the new god of all VCAs, the mighty Arplifier.
A new module based on the ARP2600 VCA.
Somewhere in there a Synthrotek EKO is trying hard to justify
being in such good company, and the Doepfer A-147 LFO is making something move a bit.
Coming soon: Doepfer Wave Multiplier and Spring Reverb!
This is self indulgent shite. Only I will enjoy watching this. :) xx"

#SYNTH BIKE 3.0 THE #EXCERSISE BIKE FOR THE MUSICIAN
Published on Jun 22, 2017 LOOK MUM NO COMPUTER
"This bike was built for Science Gallery Dublin, where you can actually ride it right now till september!
Its primary goal was to be useable by anyone. The last synth bike was very cryptic, it had more functions but was hard to understand! This is a synth bike for everyone.
Its an analog synth, and a drum machine all built into a groove box on handlebars. It consists of 12 arduinos! The synth is An oscillator going into a frequency central VCF VCA, and also being quantized and octaved by a Frequency central TRANS EUROPA. there is a wav trigger holding all of the drums! and the power supplies are FREQUENCY CENTRAL also. its a proper spaghetti junction!

Build a Modular Synth in seven months!
Published on Apr 7, 2014 scorbie·46 videos
"After seeing the modular documentary I Dream Of Wires, I decided back in September of 2013 I wanted to get one.
After months of obsessing and invaluable help from a few friends and people in the modular underworld, my first case is just about complete.
Even building my own now!
Rick Holt of Frequency Central & Rickard Steffensen from Sweden have been incredibly patient and supportive and I will forever be grateful.
Made a couple really good friends.
Visit frequencycentral.co.uk and look up Steffensen on Muffwiggler.com.
Small manufacturers who's modules are better than most of the well known makes out there.
In the case:
Frequency Central: System X VCO, Waverider DVCO, Electro Cardiogram Filter, Vogue Filter, Multipoles, Waverunner LFO, Continuum Phase Shifter, Trans Europa, Raging Bull* & System X S&H/Noise* (* DIY build soon).
Steffensen: Oscillarp (X2) and Envelarp ADSR (based on ARP2600).
Doepfer: A140 ADSR, A180 Multiples, A147 VCLFO, A106 Xtreme Filter, A138 Mixer.
Oakley Classic VCA, Tiptop Z3000, Make Noise Maths, Pittsburg MIDI2 and a few more bits to build including 4 ARP Odyssey VCOs and an ARP2600 12db LPF.
I've DIY'd all of the Frequency Central and Steffensen modules in the case. About two rows worth.
Didn't know how to solder seven months ago, let alone understand a schematic or what a resistor was. :)
Midlife crisis. Yep. And it f*cking rules!"

Modular Jam #28 - Nightlight
Published on Sep 29, 2015 DivKidMusic
"Full patch notes below so you can see how everything was done. Another fairly simple "oh that's pretty cool I'll film it" jam video. Wish I had more time to get into bigger more playable and varied patches but I don't at the minute. So these jams stay as fairly quick little snippets of patches I tend to make when I unwind with the modular after work. Full patch notes below.
http://www.patreon.com/divkid
PATCH NOTES -
Kick
Happy Nerding HM VCO's sine wave output with the WMD Multimode Envelope going into the FM input to trigger a sharp rise and fast exponential decay to create the kick sound.
Snare Noise
This is the white noise output of the Frequency Central System X SH module going through the Frequency Central Meth Amp for tone/feedback shaping. A gate opens up the volume (VCA) on the Meth Amp to create the note length.
Main Percussion
The ALM Busy Circuits Dinky's Taiko module provides percussion and through the video the oscillators releases and on board envelope speed is manually adjusted.
Laser Hi Hats
This is the SARA filter from Din Sync self oscillating with the cut off modulated by the Frequency Central UltraWave LFO with a distorted falling saw wave shape to create the laser resonance style sound. Cut off is adjusting manually through the video.
Drum Mixing & Processing
All four drum parts go into Mutable Instruments Frames working as a basic four channel mixer. The sound then goes into a Synthrotek DLY which has it's mix and feedback amount manually adjusted through the video. This then goes into the main mixer for the patch which is Shades from Mutable Instruments.
Bass
The bass sound is Mutable Instruments Braids in Fold mode. The fold amount is modulated by Mutable Instruments Peaks in LFO mode with smooth/curved sample and hold as the output. Braids then goes into Mutable Instruments Clouds for some granular processing with feedback and reverb. The blend - dry/wet mix of Cloud sis modulated with hand gestures on a HackMe Vectr. This goes into Shades as the master mixer.
Melody
Mutable Instruments Elements provides the melody sound for the main sequence in the patch. It's Blow Timbre is modulated with the System X SH module, the Dampening modulated by one row of a Make Noise Pressure Points sequence, the brightness modulated by another Pressure Points sequence and the resonantor position modulated by a triangle LFO from Peaks.
Sequencing / Clocks
ALM Busy Circuits Pamela's Workout provides all the clocks/triggers in the Euclidean Toy Firmware mode. This triggers the Kick and Laster Hi Hat sound as well as the Dinky's Taiko percussion line. It also sending a clock to the Make Noise Brains module controlling a pair of linked Pressure Points modules. Step 5's gate output on the linked Pressure Points opens up the VCA in the Meth Amp to let the noise through create the snare/noise hit in the drum section. The 3 rows of the pressure points are taken out into an Erica Synths Sequential Switch with the Pressure Points' first step gate output triggering the sequential sequencing. The output of the switch then goes into an RYO Airtenuator for simple attenuation of the voltages before going into an ADDAC 207 Quantizer to send pitch to Elements for the main sequence."

3 Eurorack Modules That Are Complete Synth Voices (No Patching Required)
video upload by Dots
"What if you could get a complete synthesizer voice — oscillator, filter, and VCA — all in a single Eurorack module? In this video I demo three self-contained voice modules that are perfect for small racks, live performance, or anyone just getting started with modular synthesis.
I cover:
🔹 Frequency Central Product – pure analog, East Coast character, pre-patched and ready to play
🔹 Knobula Monumatic – 8-voice polyphonic (!), built-in reverb, huge sound in minimal HP
🔹 Mutable Instruments Plaits – 24 algorithms, incredible sound variety, my go-to for live performance
Whether you're new to Eurorack and don't know where to start, or you're deep in the rabbit hole and protective of your HP, these modules prove you don't need a massive rack to make great sounds.

Frequency Central feat. Akropoli, Pretzel Logic and Dark Star - Decoding Lightshow!
video upload by Frequency Central
"In this video I'm addressing the four inputs of Pretzel Logic from the four gate outputs of Akropoli - see the LEDs dance in complex rhythmic patterns - and of course each LED also represents a gate output from Pretzel Logic.
Akropoli's CV output is patched into Dark Star to create beautiful moods and arpeggios.
I'm tweaking Akropoli's Presets and Modes, which is represented aurally by Dark Star and visually by Pretzel Logic.
