MOMB Tenori Tutorial

Published on Aug 8, 2013

"I thought I would do a little video showing how the Tenorion can be used as an awesome multi-channel MIDI step sequencer.

The great thing is every channel can run at its own speed and also you can save variations of the sequence at different points and then move between them during the performance.

I hope you enjoy the tune, let me know if you have any questions.

........................................
About Me :
MyOneManBand is the name I give to the live improvisational electronica that I create in real-time out of sounds from many instruments, often using a mixture of organic sound sets such at classical guitar, marimba, dulcimer, kalimba, accordion and drums with synthetic textures electronic percussion, beeps, bleeps and hiss.

I make music to please an urge that exists within me to see what is possible to accomplish on my own with no pre-recording or backing tracks. I came to this way of working through the live-looping process using audio recording tools such as the Boss Loopstation and Echoplex Digital Pro, but I now find for the main part that MIDI is more flexible for what I do as it allows the musical structures of my work to remain flexible in real time so I can add and strip away layers in a non linear way.

I also make music to take my own small space within the context of the many great artists who are also working in the field and as such I am on a journey that does not expect reward financially or through the more conventional measures of success, but rather I hope to find value in my work through the people who I meet through its undertaking and the ideas and thoughts that they bring into my life.
I am therefore always eager to engage with my views through critique, help or just to talk geek for a while...please...never be afraid to get in touch.

Thanks very much for watching, if you like my work , please consider subscribing to help me continue to spread my work to like minded people.

Korg Monomania Sound Contest - USA - TENORI syncs MONOTRIBE - Chiptune Glitch Electro

YouTube Uploaded by VJFranzK on Nov 28, 2011

"MONOTRIBE sync'd to and filtering TENORI ON! Using the panning controls, I have sent a click track to the "sync in" of the MonoTribe, and "chiptune" style blips are sent to the "audio in", and filtered in strange and interesting ways! Note the irregular beat structures used on both machines creating interlocking polyrhythms"

Tenori On sequencing Access Virus TI Snow 01a

YouTube via polishbroadcast
"Trying to expand the internal sounds and get beyond that recognizable Tenori On sound and timing. I thought the 4 parts of the TI Snow would be limiting but the sounds can be so big it is a challenge to try and be simple. The Tenori On is in "Advanced" mode so i wasn't locked into score mode for the first 4 layers which was useful on my Nord Modular G2 (which i am also uploading).

Excuse the quality. This was recorded with my Macbook Pro's iSight and audio input so the video quality is bad and there is a buzz in the audio. Beyond the buzz, the audio sounds pretty ok."

Tinytenori

YouTube Published on Aug 29, 2012 by UncertainMusicCorps

"A test run for the iConnect midi interface using Tenori-On and TouchOSC on the iPhone to control Tinysizer.

One layer of the Tenori-On controls a bass sequence using one of Tinysizer oscillators. TouchOSC provides a virtual joystick controlling Tinysizer's second oscillator. The joystick needs more work (rescaling) because its really too sensitive at present.

Drum sounds are a custom set I made from the DrumDokta module by Din Sync. No other sound sources involved.

Best on good headphones or speakers."

If you have an iPad, iPod Touch, or iPhone, you can get the full blown Tenori-On for iOS for just under 20 bucks:

Zn'shñ : Noise manufacturing w/ Sleepdrone 5, Dual Tone Generator & analog filters

YouTube via znshn
"Noise manufacturing session by Zn'shñ (Elvire Bastendorff & Franck Smith) w/ Sleepdrone 5, Dual Tone Generator & analog filters (Sherman Filterbank 2, Jomox M-Resonator) + Tenori-On. Contents : noise manufacturing, square wave, oscillators, analog filtering, micro-pulses, clicks, glitches...

N.B.- According to a fictitious etymology, the term Zn'shñ signifies: the gleam of dark colours. Deliberately antithetic and intentionally enigmatic, Zn'shñ is enthused by Butoh iconography, Japanese Gagaku aesthetic and Tibetan rituals codification. Operating as a dual electronic unit (mulit-instrumentalis/composer Franck Smith and artist/sound-activist Elvire Bastendorff), Zn'shñ deepens some very specific works around digital phonocrafting and noise manufacturing.

Dusting off the Tenori:ON

video upload by allmyfriendsaresynths

"Another weirdo sequencer, with weirdo idiosyncracies. The Tenori:ON. A quick and dirty jam for that month that people do jams in.

All sounds etc just from the Tenori:ON. A bit noisier than usual thanks to a dirty PSU.

I post all of the music I make, including WAV stems; sample packs; collections of video textures; early access to videos; and a whole pile of other stuff on Patreon. I know I know, I hate doing this as well, but if you like what I do and want to get more of it, while also helping me offset some of my ludicrous gear purchases, this is the best place to do it:

https://www.patreon.com/allmyfriendsa...

If you just want individual sample packs or downloads of video footage to use in your own projects, get them on Gumroad here: https://gumroad.com/allmyfriends

If you're in the market for new gear, my favourite place to find new and interesting synthesizers and other electronic music gear is Signal Sounds. They are based in Glasgow, but ship all over the place and often have stuff nobody else does. Find them at https://www.signalsounds.com/"

Yamaha Tenori-on Step Sequencer/ Synthesizer

Note: Auction links are affiliate links for which the site may be compensated.

via this auction

"Yamaha’s Tenori-on is a really fun and unusual piece of electronics. The software included allows you to program your own sounds via the SD card ( not included) but any standard one works. It’s in good condition. No dents. All the buttons on the front are operational. All the lights in the back work. I am including a plexiglass stand with the tenori-on. It has an awesome clock function when you are not making music and looks great in the stand at night."

"DJmag reviewer Marc '01' has just completed this awesome demo of the Yamaha Tenori-On. Marc tok advantage of al the features available to make this awesome clip in one take. The editing you see is just of the visuals, not of the sound. It sound unlike any other Tenori-On performance because he's loaded in his own samples alongside the built-in synthesizer. Enjoy!"

Spirits of Lemuria / playing with TenoriOn & Virus C

Published on Feb 24, 2013 Stefan Beckhusen·120 videos

"A little bit more drive this time ;)
The music is made with Yamaha Tenori On, Access Virus C and Korg M50 (additional drums). The video of my playing the Tenori On isn't absolute perfect in synth. This time i used 3 layers life with intern sounds, in case of this the mastering isn't really perfect.
The Virus C makes the synthesizer voices and an additional drum track comes from the Korg M50.
The song download is available at: http://beyondthelines.bandcamp.com/tr..."

MIDI Solutions Event Processor Plus MIDI Filter Mapping Tool

via this auction

"The MIDI Event Processor Plus is a very powerful tool for mapping, filtering and processing all kinds of MIDI data. For example, you can use it to map note numbers onto other note numbers or onto control change events, or to reroute MIDI data from one MIDI channel to another. Additionally, it can completely block or filter any kind of MIDI event.

One of its many applications is to enormously extend the Yamaha Tenori-On's capabilities as a MIDI sequencer for external synths. You could use the Event Processor to map note events from some of the Tenori-On's layers onto control change messages. That way you could use your Tenori-On to sequence things like filter cutoff frequency etc instead of just notes.
Or you could use it to remap notes from the second sequencer track of a Roland TR-909 onto the required note numbers of an external drum synth.
For further info please visit MIDI Solutions website:
http://www.midisolutions.com/prodepp.htm

The Event Processor is MIDI-powered and doesn't need a separate power adaptor. It can pe programmed by Sysex messages. There is a free Windows editor available for download from MIDI Solutions' website."
