"I sampled the Frap out of a Magnolia, an Analogue Solutions Maximus, a Pittsburgh Taiga, a Pittsburgh Voltage Lab 2, a Sequential Prophet VS, a Korg DW8000 and a Novation Peak — then chopped them into single cycle waves and turned them into 151 wavetables for Serum and Pigments.

£15,000 is roughly what those seven instruments would cost you, give or take. The pack is £15.

What's different here is what got sampled: full sweeps through the Magnolia's wavefolder, the Voltage Lab 2's complex oscillators, PWM across its whole range, the DW8000's 16 digital waves, the Prophet VS set. Not generic waveshapes — the actual character of specific, expensive, awkward instruments.

It started with a comment. Someone watched my Magnolia demo and asked how to get that tone out of their Peak. The short answer is you can't, because the oscillators don't start with the same harmonics. The long answer is this video.

Along the way I've used it as an excuse to go through the different ways a synth actually makes a tone — subtractive, FM, wavefolding and wavetable — and why the Magnolia can do three of them and the Peak can do the fourth. Terry Michaels, AKA Terry Mikulic, designed the seminal relaxation-core oscillator published in Electronotes 62 by Bernie Hutchins: the highly accurate ENS-76. It is the most influential analogue oscillator design of the modern era. This circuit became the heart of hundreds of synthesisers, including Gene Stopp’s ASM-1, the Synthesizers.com Q106, and the muSonics Vanilla Oscillators. Through his synthesizer work, Terry founded a laser light show company called Laser Artistry in 1976. The company operated as one of America's elite laser show outfits until its final performance on December 31, 1999.

The annual catered banquet will be held Saturday, September 12, 2026 at 7pm in the Sapphire Pavilion. Tickets are available as an add-on to your Knobcon attendance. Seating is limited."

Filtopia Patch Demo Part 1 | Stereo Sound Examples | Analogue Solutions

"Here's the first collection of sounds from Filtopia.

This isn't intended to be a comprehensive demo—it's simply a collection of some of the first patches we created for Filtopia. It's an incredibly deep synthesiser, and these examples barely scratch the surface, but they should give you a good flavour of what it's capable of.

Filtopia features five parallel analogue filters, three analogue VCOs, an 8-step sequencer, stereo VCAs, analogue echo, external audio processing, comprehensive modular patch points, and MIDI + CV/Gate connectivity, making it equally at home as a standalone instrument or at the centre of a larger modular setup.

Everything you hear in this video was recorded in true stereo, so if you're listening on headphones or decent speakers, you'll hear the movement, width and spatial character that are a big part of Filtopia's sound.

There will be plenty more to come. Part 2 is already on the way and will feature more patches, textures, sequences and sonic explorations as we continue discovering what Filtopia can do."

USP - THE FILTER BANK
Filtopia’s key USP is a bank of 5 analogue filters wired in parallel. Glorious multi-band filter sweeps are possible. With some tweaking you can also get vowel types sounds.

5 filters doesn’t mean just 5 filters, by having offset filter-cutoff frequencies, with some high resonance levels, can mimic the way the human voice works. Something that can’t be done with a single filter.

Aside from the uniqueness of a multi-channel filter bank for filtering, Filtopia is fully loaded with VCOs, LFOs, EGs, etc.

Filterbank - 5 analogue multi-mode filters - superb multi-filter sweeps, and even vowel sounds!

3 VCOs - can be routed to some or many of the filters as dictated by the front panel.

5 VCFs - Multi-Mode - wired in parallel.

2 VCAs - one has Echo.

"This went from the crate to my humidity controlled basement. It's never been turned on, but I can turn it on and make a demo video for anyone seriously interested. I'd rather keep it in a brand-new (not-turned-on) state, though.

This is the double Colossus with the optional (additional) touch key plate and optional second oscilloscope.

The top of the slim cabinet's wood panel (the upper cabinet) has a scratch. My brother-in-law helped me move it to the basement, and his dog scratched the top panel while we were moving it.

I paid $68,000 USD (synth, additions, crates, and shipping from UK)."
