Complexe PWM with the TRICOMP - Eurorack module
video upload by LARIX ELEKTRO
"After a comparison with the TIME-SHIFTER (see the last video) [posted here], let's go back to the TRICOMP alown, this time at audio rate.
The basis for creating a square wave signal is to use a comparator, starting from a sawtooth or triangle wave. Ok, this is in all synths…
But what can you do with 3 comparators, along with a whole logic circuit connecting them? ...not to mention, if you only get pulses…
In short, a few examples of using the TRICOMP to make PWM a bit richer and more complex than usual.
Thanks to the excellent ROSSUM TRIDENT, which served as my sound source.

TRICOMP vs TIME SHIFTER - 2 way to add groove
video upload by LARIX ELEKTRO
"Well, the two modules can do the same things:
triggering sounds out of the grid.
But in a different way, with a different result. Depending on your need.
This is a quick video, with a small except of an impro with all LE modules, at the end of the video.
Of couse, we speak about Eurorack modules. From Larix-Elektro.

WHAT'S THAT THING ?
TRI for Trigger or for Three (!)
COMP for comparator.
It's a module that transforms any signal into triggers and gate signals.
The TRICOMP has 2 sections:
- The first generates triggers (hence the name)
- The second generates classic ON/OFF signals (GATE) combining the configuration of the 3 comparators.
The Triggers section:
When the input signal exceeds the threshold set by the associated potentiometer, instead of switching from state 0 to state 1, it generates a pulse.
The switch allows you to choose when a trigger is generated: either when the signal exceeds, or when it returns below the threshold, or both.
There is also an output that sum the 3 circuits.
The second section is a combination of the 3 circuits, and generate GATE outputs.
Typical use:
All typical use of the comparator function
Trigger generation for complexe rhythmic composition
Waveshaping tool, or complexe PWM.

Hacking the TIME-SHIFTER - Eurorack module
video upload by LARIX ELEKTRO
"A small addition to the TIME SHIFTER module:
Add a CV input to the MAIN-SHIFT parameter.
A CV input to this parameter hadn't been planned, as in the intended use, it wasn't relevant.
But actually, why not? That's the whole point of being modular: going where the manufacturer hadn't thought!
Ok, it's a bit makeshift, but it works…
More info on the site:
https://www.larix-elektro.com/PRODUCT...
Modules used:
LARIX ELEKTRO 4TOMS for the toms! obviously ;)
LARIX ELEKTRO Ritournelle CV Generator + Shift-R for the rhythm
LARIX ELEKTRO Ritournelle CV Generator (another one) for the CV controlling the MAIN SHIFT"
"WHAT'S THAT THING ?
The Time-Shifter is a delay for gate or trigger signales.
As all good time machines it can delay after and before (!).
The first idea is to find a way to build a swing or a groove.
So to decide which steps of which track is decayed, and how much.
To do this, it is necessary to be able to shift the events after and before. But before, we can't predict when an event will appear...
The solution is to decay everything, and then, decaying less than the others events.
So comparing to the new decaying events, it will sounds like it appear before.
The MAIN SHIFT defines this new reference.
So if you enter the main CLK signal into the input, the output of this circuit can be used as the new CLK reference.
The four circuits A B C and D works according to the value of the MAIN SHIFT reference:
- When the knob is centered, the time decay is the same.
- Left, means less time decay, so the event will appear before.
- Right, means more time, so the event will appear after.
Extend your module:
The module can be enriched by one expansion modules:
- The AttV-4 adds to the CV entries an adjustment of the CV value by an attenuverter.
The connectors on the back of the module save connectivity at the front.
Typical use:
- Groove (or swing, etc.) controlable by CV (!)
- Realignment of gates sequences.
(When using multiple sequencers with different latency)
- Signals sequencing adjustment.
(Be sur that a RST arrives at the right moment, for example)
(Be sur that a your S&H module sample after signal stabilization, for example)"

LARIX ELEKTRO CANON, Eurorack module Deviant use
video upload by LARIX ELEKTRO
"Here is an alternative way to understand, then use, the CANON module.
The CANON is a delay for CV and GATE, controlled by a Clock signal.
But it can be considered as a bank of sample and hold.
You will see how work the CLK and GATE input, using random or noise instead of regular input signals. and a lot of tips !
The CANON is available here: www.larix-elektro.com"

CANON: NEW EURORACK MODULE by LARIX ELEKTRO
video upload by LARIX ELEKTRO
LARIX ELEKTRO CANON, Eurorack module OVERVIEW
video upload by LARIX ELEKTRO
"New Eurorack module:
Add a musical canon into your setup !
Clocked delay for CV and GATE.
Delay events from 1 to 16 steps.
LOOP mode.
Of course, as usual, with CV and trigger controle of all parameters.
Module available now, here: www.larix-elektro.com"
"WHAT'S THAT THING ?
The CANON, is, as its name suggests, a module to create a canon effect (!) between 2 voices.
Wikipédia: Canon_(music)
A theme that is repeated and imitated and built upon by other instruments with a time delay, creating a layered effect.
In the modular world, it's Simply a delay for CV and GATE.
But unlike an audio delay (that records audio at 'audio rate') the CANON records data only according to a clock signal.
With the CANON module, you can delay until 16 steps.
The CANON can delay one GATE and one CV
(+1 CV with an extension).
Of course with CV controle of the number of steps. With the unique knob: Nb Steps.
To be more playable, there are two more functions:
Reset (RST), to clear the memory, that can be useful to not let the sequence running if you don't want that.
Enable (EN). In this case, the input is ignored. The module will works like a small sequence memory of 16 steps.
The Nb Steps knobs will controle the duration of the loop.
To resume, The module needs a Clock signal (CLK)
A CV and a GATE input.
And you will have the same things as the input, shifted !
Then a Reset button + Jack to clear the memory. (RST)
And a Enable button + Jack to freeze the memory. (EN)
With an external module, like the Mult., you can delay one more CV.
Typical use:
Building musical canon.
Save and play with the sequence in the memory.
creative re-construction of sequence."

Testing patch, from DivKid - Part 2: VASTLY IMPROVED FAKE REVERB FROM RING MOD
video upload by LARIX ELEKTRO
Follow-up to this post.
"This time, I'm not testing the DivKid patch, but my own humble idea.
It's sure, you can improve my idea. I didn't have time to do a better video, because I have to launch a new module this week...
At first, I'll using my Random*Source / SERGE modules.
And then, with my Dual Undula Oscillator. Because the VCO can work like a VCF, and th frequency can go very low.
Hope you will enjoy it :)"

Testing patch, from DivKid, from Rob Hordijks FAKE Reverb with Ring Modulation.
video upload by LARIX ELEKTRO
"@DivKid 's releasing a very interesting video (as usual).
from an idea of Rob Hordijks.
I let you seeing all the explanations here:[below]
So, why not testing it by myself ?
At first, I'll using my Random*Source / SERGE modules.
And stupidly, I was forgetting that my DUAL UNDULA OSCILLATOR has all functions to test the idea ! So I'm testing the idea with it.
And after that, I'm digressing around the stereo possibilities of my module and the MS (mid/side) option.
Ok, I didn't have a lot of time (busy after SuperBooth...) so it's a bit "from scratch"... Hope you will enjoy it :)"
How to FAKE Reverb with Ring Modulation // Rob Hordijks ‘Poor Mans Delays’ [BETTER BLEEPS]
video upload by DivKid
"So here's a bit of story and the first BETTER BLEEPS video in a long time!
With Chris from Moog sharing Rob Hordijk's trick to emulate reverb wth Ring Modulation in the recent Superbooth video, that of course sparked questions. So strap in with a brew for a time travel trip back to 2017 where Rob Hordijk gave a tutorial with his "poor mans delay" technique and stay tuned for going through the technique and method with us in the video. Grab the free PDF and VCV Rack patch for further material on the technique. Links below.
This is applicable to many modules and bits of gear, to that point after the main demo with Manic (DivKid & Apollo View) I go through it with 4 more modules (Instruo VinCA, cLFO from AtoV, Ouija from Nekyia and A*B+C by Befaco)."

Post-Superbooth with ORIGAMI
video upload by LARIX ELEKTRO
"Back from Superbooth 2025 Berlin !
I didn't have the time to test the Origami oscillator. Because the last prototype was done just before... ...so I went to the superbooth without knowing how the module sounded !
After 3 days of trying it, here some of the many sounds it can produce.
Redone in the studio.
(More to come, of course)
Enjoy
(Ok, I'm adding FX, just to put the sound in context)"

Eurorack, Manage your Envelope
video upload by LARIX ELEKTRO
"With the LARIX ELEKTOR TIME module, you have all you need to control envelopes, for more expressivity: Gate duration, retrig, etc.
Here an example of use.
Module is available here:
https://www.larix-elektro.com/"
WHAT'S THAT THING ?
In fact, it's simple: it convert a trigger signal (hm, any signals) into a gate signal with CV controle of the time.
It's also a clock generator, a rampe generator, and even a clock divider with the Shift-R extension.
The GATE output is augmented by 2 other outputs: START and END, which generate (as their name suggests) a trig at the beginning of the gate and one at the end.
The END allows this module to be used as a Trig delay, or to trigger another envelope at the end of a note, for example.
The START's output trig is generated each time a trig is received as input, even if the GATE is still active as output. Perfect for retriggering an envelope (if the corresponding entry exists on your module, of course...).
The GATE can be forced to zero by an RST input. (Think of HiHat Open and Close for example)
The input trig and RST each have a push button.
Finally, a switch allows the module to be transformed into a clock generator.
The input triggers the clock, and the RST stops it.
An additional output, not so common for this type of module, provides a ramp for the duration of the GATE.
This gives you access to a voltage that increases throughout the duration of the GATE.
Useful as is, or to send to a waveshaper for example.
The RITOURNELLE Shift-R, adds 8 trigger outputs.
The Rampe value is converted into an 8-bit word.
This allows for clock-type signals at smaller divisions than the duration of the GATE (or the clock in LOOP mode)
A kind of clock divider.

Synthesizer archeology - DIY Modular from early 2000.
video upload by LARIX ELEKTRO
"Too big for live performances, it finally serves me in the studio for a strange and very personal project: De Secretis naturae.
It's a series of tracks built only using this synthesizer and a few other tools, all homemade.
The goal is to recreate natural environments, using the synthetic sounds produced with my machines.
A kind of fake field recording.
The last chapter, of the 2 tracks, has just been released:
That's it, this musical release was an opportunity to present this old pre-LE modular…

And because LARIX ELEKTRO is a 'one mane' company and it's boring to split all my projects into too much channels/pseudo, etc...
Maybe it's interesting to know what this guy is doing behind LE ?"

XAOC DEVICES SAMARKANDA first test
video upload by ALEQ Modular
"I'm just receiving the XAOC DEVICES SAMARKANDA module !!!
The ultimate delay module ?
Maybe not , it needs some extra modules, maybe, like filters, or compressors.
But the best I know in the 'modular' spirit. And it's what I'm looking for.
Why ? because the module fonctionnalities are completely open. Almost all parameters are CV (or gate) controllable, and the 4 delays can be independante.
So, if I need more functionnalities, I can add them to the module by patching other modules: there are all the jacks we need.
Also, no sub menus or tiny screen.
It means that it can be deeply connected to all my other modules: the 'modular' spirit...
To show how this module is easy to use, this is really an 'out of the box' test. (for a result after a deep exploration of the module, see the very good demo that are already on youtube, from your favorit youtubers)
Audio sources are the DUAL UNDULA OSCILLATOR and the 4TOMS from LARIX ELEKTRO.

"Today I'll show you some cool patches on a small system built around the Larix Elektro modules: Ritournelle CV & Trig Generator and the beast that is the Dual Undula.
These are awesome to improvise rhythms, synth riff and all sort of abstract bleeps very quickly. You can also process sounds in various ways with the Dual Undula so we will check that out as well.
Have fun!

video upload by ALEQ Modular
"Flowers start to grow, it's time for a new impro.
This time, I only use the DUAL UNDULA OSCILLATOR from LE.
Because I have access to the prototypes and the demo modules, I can work with four of them on the same time. Experimenting vairous use of the module: sound source, slow modulation or filter.
Ok, it's a basic modular improvisation, nothing too complex.
Sometime it's enough..."
