"Great and rare modular synth made by Dmitry Morozov aka ::vtol:: during 2011 VolFram is semi-modular noise synthesizer and fx-proccesor based on digital 8-bit echo chip Ht-8970 it can be used as flexible delay/reverb processor, fuzz and complex. All these fx-capabilitys can be mixed and controlled with much flexibility Only 56 unit were made Dimitry is a transdisciplinary artist and researcher. He focuses on contemporary media arts including sound, robotics and installation, placing special emphasis on the link between emergent systems and new kinds of technological synthesis. Currently based in Ljubljana, Slovenia."
"great and very rare semi-modular synth hand made produced in 2009/2011
VolFram is semi-modular noise synthesizer and fx-proccesor based on digital 8-bit echo chip Ht-8970
it can be used as flexible delay/reverb processor, fuzz and complex. All these fx-capabilitys can be mixed and controlled with much flexibility
Only 56 unit were made
It has a very rare Dimitri's modification: very usefull sensitive knob on the right (see pic)
Great for noise/experimental synth, released a few years ago for a specific art project by Russian genious artist ::Vtol:: aka Dmitriy Morozov.
Part of a set of other semi modular machines, it is a stand alone dekstop device that offers different frequencies, from nasty high-pitched noise, to throbbing medium basses. Suggested for artists working with industrial, noise, power electronics, drone, and experimental.
A great piece of artisanship that I didn't use much but was worth the money. released in 55 models
fx-proccesor based on digital 8-bit echo chip Ht-8970.
Needs a BOSS type 9- power supply
demos on line are not as exciting as the machine really does great potential."
"hi! it's me jamming on :vtol: volfram diy semi modular synth.
another take of this patch can be heared in better quality here:

"we were testing a new camera, doing stills mostly, but then we thought why not to shoot a video, so here it is. as you can see the patch is a bit too complex for detailed explanation, but in short its the trigger riot triggering everything no cv sequencer involved, although the clockwork can be considered as such and that what it does in this patch (among other things) the full list of modules involved is in the video itself. The obvious stars of the patch are: The Mighty Trigger Riot and Toms 909 well done Tiptop Audio!
And btw the bass is z3000 mk2 x2 > manhattan analog mix > z2040, modulated by z4000 > wmd digital vca controled by another z4000 > battery acid for mild compression and a bit of distortion."
Update: "::vtol:: volfram was used as an outboard delay"
"Extremely unique and expressive ::vtol:: modular synthesizer system (6 modules) in great condition as pictured. All modules created by Russian sound artist Dmitry Morozov aka ::vtol::...
"17.07.2012 we presented an installation, developed by Russian sound-artist ::vtol::
The installation is called ::vtol:: DNA_SA - and it is a tribute to world-wide Sound-Art community. The core idea is that each day one of the sound-artists from different part of the World plays his live-set via internet to the exhibition space.
DNA_SA - is 20 independent sound channels which are routed algorithmically through PureData-patch and are modulated by Nord-Modular and custom DIY devices.
It is also a 5 meter height sculpture of DNA-molecule with 20 speakers around the person who can tweak controllers using different algorithms of space.
We aslo decide to make open call for composers and sound artists to write special 20 channel compositions than will be downloaded to installation server and played at last day of exhibition.
Special for Lexus Hybrid Art, 18-29 July, Moscow 2012"
Update: Audio added:
Zvukoprocessor Live @ DNA_SA - Moscow - 21.7.12 by zv_k "3 hours live performance utilizing the whole zvukoprocessor studio. transmitted over internet to the DNA_SA installation in Moscow on 21st of July 2012
Euro Rack Modular with modules from the harvestman, make noise, doepfer, malekko / wiard, manhattan analog, synthesis technology, 4ms, flame, mfb, pittsburgh modular, addac systems, tiptop audio, intellijel designs. Elektron Trinity, Akai MPC1000, Nord Rack, Waldorf microQ, Ableton Live, Klee sequencer, xoxbox, various pedals and fx. Korg EMX-1, Korg KP2 and KP3. ::Vtol:: Volfram and Zig-Zag"
Koshmator: "Random logical parasite and automatic music system modulator. Based on atmega328 microcontroller and soft-hacking principle. Current firmware version 1.0.
part of the "system"
- 6 main logical outputs: 3 CV and 3 gate/trigger
- 3 main control knobs with modulation inputs that affect all 6 outputs in various ways with different chaotic behavior each
- 2 voltage controlled resistors (VCA)
- gate controlled switcher
- gate controlled slew limiter (AD symmetric envelope)
- 2 free LFOs: one square and one triangle
- 4 modulation inputs for injecting even more chaos and extra randomness"
8 more custom programs can be added to each DSP with external EEPROM (bank_2). Custom programs, such as random noise generators, granulators, DCO, etc. will be available later on EEPROM chips (easy to add - no soldering will be required). By installing two custom EEPROM chips three different banks of programs can be stored inside, with any two available simultaneously.
- 3 pots with modulation inputs for each DSP
- External processor clock input on each DSP (any logic level clock source)
- 1 square wave high frequency generator for DSP clock modulation
- 2 banks: internal (7 programs) and EEPROM (8 programs)
- 4 inputs/4 outputs
Depending on the program various combinations can be achieved:
mono in > mono out x4 mono in > stereo out x2 stereo in > stereo out x2
So up to 4 individual FX programs can be connected in series.

Expanders are auxiliary custom machines with variety of functions (LFOs, CV/GATE inputs, switchers, attenuators, etc ) for more flexible control over my modular machines
via Konstantin Gervis on The MATRIXSYNTH Lounge "I've recorded balalaika, electric* and acoustic guitar specifically for using with the .wav player. Also I had recordings of prepared upright piano from a few years back that I've also used as well as some real drum set recording played with brashes and heavily processed in Ableton.
here I am messing around, trying ideas and getting to know the module. As everything is sync locked in our studio there is also some MD and a bit of MPC1K as well as some Stupid Design steppenotter, Vtol's Volfram and my partner's Korg EMX.
to keep things mostly in a modular world there is also Z3000mk2 and Anti Oscillator no detailed patch notes, sorry, but the audio signal path is detailed in each demo in the soundcloud.
Please keep in mind that I wasn't concerned with the overall tuning of the oscillators so much as with the modulating the .wav player, just wanted something running to keep things interesting and related."
