Stylophone CPM DS-2: Dark Atmospheric Sounds. No Talk Demo
video upload by Anton Anru
"Obsidian is a collection of 50 custom presets for the analog synthesizer Stylophone CPM DS-2. In this pack, you’ll find drones, textures, FXs, rhythmical patterns and sequences, and immersive soundscapes.
🔮 I was fascinated by exploring this drone machine, and in this collection, I share the results of that journey. My goal was to extract a broad variety of timbres— dark, noisy, vintage/retro, cold, dull, distorted, metallic, tense, as well as atonal, non-harmonic, FX-like, evolving, moving, and sweeping sounds.
📦 Get the soundset: https://antonanru.sellfy.store/p/cpm-...
📺 The soundset draws inspiration from sci-fi movies, soundtracks, dystopian narratives, urban landscapes, noise ambient albums, experimental modern art, and innovative sound design.
📻 Perfect for genres such as Dark, Noise, Ambient, Cinematic, IDM, Electronica, Dub, Deep, Techno, Industrial, Minimal, Garage, Experimental, and more. These timbres also work exceptionally well for movie soundtracks, games, apps, digital art, live sound art performances, and VR landscapes—anywhere a dark, atmospheric vibe is needed.
📓 The soundset is presented in a PDF document. Each page contains notes explaining how each patch works, which parameters to tweak during playback, and techniques to further develop the timbre during performance. By following these instructions and experimenting with the suggested settings, you’ll deepen your understanding of the synth and unlock its true potential.
🎧 Each patch also includes an audio example to help you grasp the intended sound.
💾 The collection additionally includes 24/41000 WAV samples. You can use these samples as they are, or feel free to resample, edit, and apply effects in your DAW, sampler, or granular synth. They provide versatile material for your sonic experimentation.
🖲 The Stylophone CPM DS-2 is an analog synthesizer highly sensitive to both settings and performance. I’ve done my best to document all parameters precisely; however, expect slight variations, as this is a truly alive, analog instrument. This is especially true for pitch, tuning, and FM settings—and in some cases, on the delay. The PITCH/RATE and LFO DEPTH knobs are extremely responsive— even a slight movement can shift the pitch significantly.
Many presets don’t adhere to a strict tonal center, so feel free to experiment with frequency settings. If you need to hit specific notes, I recommend using a tuner when adjusting pitch and FM."

Waldorf Blofeld Dark Atmospheric Ambient Presets Sound Demo
video upload by Anton Anru
"Obscured Waves is a collection of 64 presets for Waldorf Blofeld that explores the darker, vintage-inspired side of sound design. The bank is built around the idea of imperfection—gritty, lo-fi textures combined with constantly shifting timbres created through rich modulation.
These sounds are alive, expressive, and full of character, bringing a distinctive atmosphere to any track, performance, or video production.
🌌 The soundset includes: 9 Textures, 7 Leads, 15 Pads, 11 Strings, 6 Rhythmical, 8 Keys, 8 Drones.
📦 Get these presets: https://antonanru.sellfy.store/p/blof...
💎 The timbres span a wide spectrum: dark, noisy, lo-fi, retro, romantic, melancholic, nostalgic, soundscapes, atmospheric, detuned, cold, distant, dull, massive, epic, bright, orchestral, distorted, metallic, tense, atonal, non-harmonic, FX-like, evolving, and sweeping.
🎛 The patches include dozens of modulations, adding motion and variation.
Velocity sensitivity and ModWheel assignments are mapped for expressive control, making each sound performance-friendly. ModWheel adds modulations — brightening the sound,
introducing vibrato, shifting tone, or adding extra movement for dynamic performance.
🔮 What sets Obscured Waves apart is its fusion of experimental tones and playable musical textures. Whether you’re crafting ambient, techno, cinematic, IDM, industrial, drum and bass, retrowave, or any style that leans into a dark atmospheric or moodier aesthetic, this soundset will give your music depth and identity.
🧿 Each preset was meticulously designed to deliver a tactile, emotional experience. Techniques such as noise layering, distortion, FM, and vintage tape emulation were used to evoke an analog character from this digital instrument. The result is a visceral set of sounds that feel aged, nostalgic, and imperfect—in all the right ways.
💡 Technical Information. How to import/upload presets.
The presets are compatible with hardware Blofeld versions: desktop and keyboard; and with the official Blofeld VST Plugin.
Make sure you are using the latest hardware firmware and vst-plugin versions.

Sumu: 10 patches in 10 minutes
video upload by Madrona Labs
"It's easy to enter a state of flow when patching with Sumu. Adjusting a single parameter can completely mutate an idea. This is where the Save function is real friend. It allows us to not only keep our favorite patches as presets, but also to travel back through a patching session via snapshots. It's always nice to have a camera in your bag while hiking isn't it?
Today we're taking 10 minutes to view 10 of Cam's recent Sumu snapshots. He's also written some notes about them below and made them available to download and modify.

Minimal Audio Current 'Dystopian Soundscapes' is a collection of 50 atmospheric presets that evoke the feel of dark sci-fi soundtracks, dystopian films, thrillers, games, and dystopian novels. The soundset includes: 12 Pads, 8 Strings, 6 Drones, 7 Keys, 8 Synths, 9 Textures.
🎆 Get the soundset: https://bit.ly/3MTxpdH
🧬 Exploring this relatively new plugin was a fascinating experience, and I was thoroughly impressed with its capabilities. The sampler and granular engines, outstanding effects quality, and extensive wavetable synthesis options played a pivotal role in shaping this sound bank.
🗃 Each preset in this collection has a cohesive style, blending noise, distortion, and vintage tape emulation, striking a balance between experimental elements and playable, accessible sounds. The pack includes atonal sounds, drones, and textures perfect for creating tension and suspense. The core of the collection consists of atmospheric sounds, ranging from soft, expansive, and lush to bright, shimmering, distorted, orchestral, vintage, and more.
🧿 These presets are versatile and can be used in any genre where a dark atmosphere is essential, such as techno, ambient, IDM, industrial, drum and bass, and others. This collection is also an invaluable resource for soundtrack composers, game developers, audiobook producers, video creators, advertisers, and social media content creators.
🎚 Each preset is carefully programmed, with dozens of modulations, velocity settings, mod wheel mappings, and macros, providing a wide range of expressive and creative possibilities.
🎛 The macros are a significant part of the soundset. They can change tone, stereo width, modulation depth and rate, noise level, distortion, detuning, space/echo/reverb, effects mix, envelope parameters, and others.
You may control them via MIDI controller, use them for automation, or map the macros to your DAW modulators like LFO, Shaper, and others.
💡 Ensure that you are using the latest plugin version.
Installation:
Open the plugin. Push Menu -> Show User Presets. You will see a folder with the plugin banks of presets. Put the folder "Anton Anru - Dystopian Soundscapes" here.

Elektron Digitakt II + Syntakt + Octatrack + Analog Heat+FX + Modular Synth Techno Jam
video upload by Group Technologies Australasia
"With the new Digitakt II, Octatrack, Syntakt, Analogue Heat+FX and a small modular synth rack for extra spice, we've assembled a powerful Elektron performance rig. This configuration demonstrates the Digitakt II and Octatrack's sampling capabilities and how well they work together. With 12 tracks of digital and analogue machinery, the Syntakt is just as capable of producing rocking beats and synth work. Not to be overlooked is the Analogue Heat + FX, the sonic processing palette that glues everything together. This is a live, improvisational jam that was captured in one take without any additional post-production or processing.
Set-up details:
Octatrack: master clock, mixer, resampling and providing some performance effects for the Syntakt and modular synth.
Digitak II: main drums and rhythmic loops.
Syntakt: additional percussion and minimal synth sounds.
Modular Synth: percussive bleeps and atonal sounds from voices LIP and SY0.5.
Analog Heat +FX: end of chain audio processing. Also some filtering and reverb effects.
Audio Routing:
Modular synth into external input on Syntakt
Digitakt II and Syntakt running into the Octatrack.
Octatrack output (stereo) into Analog Heat +FX.
MIDI Routing and Sequencing:
Octatrack is the master clock, sending MIDI clock to all other boxes. Internal sequencers on each box are in use, no external sequencing."

Pittsburgh Modular Local Parks Oscillator Demo
video upload by Pittsburgh Modular Synthesizers
"Deep dive into the Local Parks oscillator."
Local Parks got its first mention back in May of 2023 during SUPERBOOTH23.
via Pittsburgh Modular
"The Pittsburgh Modular Local Parks is drawn from our waveform manipulation research where advanced approaches to wave shaping throughout the oscillator showcase new sounds and unique waveforms. A full compliment of robust waveforms and modulation options paired with unmatched waveshaping creates a truly modern analog oscillator.
Our in-depth experimentation has created pulse waves which can be manipulated in multiple dimensions utilizing both Pulse Width and Pulse Shift. Pulse Shift creates an adjustable “step” within the pulse wave to further enhance the harmonic content of the wave. The wave used to create the pulse can be switched between sine and saw for additional sonic variation.
The Blade Wave is a morphing saw wave pitched one octave above the core frequency of the oscillator that smoothly shifts back to the core frequency as it changes shape. This creates a chorus-like effect on the sound of the Blade Wave without ever falling out of tune.
A Binary Logic waveform further expand the distinct sonic palette of the Local Parks. First utilized in our Narwhal Cymbal module, this waveshaper uses analog binary logic to create everything from gate effects to atonal bell like tones. The pulse and blade waves can be summed with the binary output for even more complex results.
Local Parks includes a built-in voltage controlled modulator to handle the bulk of modulation needs. This ensures that Local Parks can be a dynamic oscillator that produces evolving, high harmonic sounds within any eurorack setup."

The Eternal Now
video upload by davidryle
"American Format (5U) modular synthesizer performance in real time to a stereo track in Cubase.
For an atonal wash I used the Dove Audio Waveplane and WTF vco's through an Oakley Sound Systems Ring Modulator. I then sent it through A dotcom Q150 transistor ladder filter and a Lower West Side Studio Multimode Filter/Resonator and on to a fixed filter bank and a Frequency Central Stasis Leak digital delay. This drone wash comes in at the final section and ending.
The opening reed sound and accompanying organ sounds were derived from the Synthetic Sound Labs/Mutable Instruments (Braids) Woven Spirits module.
The initial reed sound is from the AUX output of the Woven Spirits through an SSL/Ian Fritz 5 Pulser and Oakley Sound Systems State Variable Filter. The filter is stepped with a random S&H from JNP Electronics.
The secondary organ chord sound is the Main direct output of the Woven Spirits in Chord mode. The combination of both elements are sent to an Electro-Harmonix Grand Canyon in DMM mode. Feedback is applied as needed for the drone sustain throughout the piece.
The bass line comes in next with a pair of STG Soundlabs Oscillators through a Dove Audio D502 Multimode filter in -24dB LP mode. The pitch voltage is from the upper Q960 step sequencer. It's timing is from a Catgirl Synth Master Divider, clocked from a custom Dual LFO/Analog Shift Register of Ken Stone (Catgirl Synth) design. An additional tap from the STG oscillator through a Corsynth C103 Frequency Divider/Multiplier module for a sub-octave feed.
The melodic line blended into the latter section is from a pair of Q106 dotcom vco's which are pitch controlled by the lower Q960 sequencer. Each vco pitch is from a separate row of the Q960. The Q960's shift timing is from the CGS Master Divider module. The output is routed through an Empress Reverb pedal in Blue Ghost mode. Panning is from the LWSS/Yusynth Panning Mixer.
All pitch quantitization is through a Moon Modular 565 series setup.
Additional voltage modulation to the Woven Spirits module are from the STG Soundlabs voltage mini stores, and vaious LFO's etc. Timing for the additional sequencers is also managed by the Moster Divider."

Qu-Bit Mojave | Live Granular Sandstorm
video upload by Cinematic Laboratory
"It's not easy to make a Mojave video after doing one about Arbhar V2. First, let me clearify that Mojave is an effect that needs a source, and Arbhar is more like a granular synth that can run completely by itself. I will clear this up in the forthcoming Grainstation 2 video with a big compare of synths vs effects. I am not sponsored so I can share my personal thoughts on this.
Mojave is great for processing rhythmic atonal sounds like percussion or found sounds. It's not ideal for processing melodic phrases because it's hard to keep in tune. There's no typical harmonic spread but somekind of random sequence generator that follows a scale. So it can suddendly behave like a granular engine with a built in 'Marbles' and you have no control over what's going on except shutting it up. If you're in the wrong scale, it can go major in a minor patch. It's designed for live, but it can easily trash your gig too.
But don't get me wrong, Mojave is definitely a keeper. This video is a journey where I slowly learn to understand and deeply appreciate the module.
If you already own Beads, you may want to skip Mojave because they're roughly on the same functional and sonic level. If you're completely new to granular, you need to figure out if you want an effect or a synth. Mojave has no storage, it doesn't remember anything when the power goes down. And if you're serious about live graining (and sustaining) real acoustic instruments, forget about the built-in mic and get a decent stereo field recorder with audio out. However, since Mojave has no storage, I'd recommend having a sample player nearby and store your field recordings there."

Moog Prodigy Vintage Analog Synthesizer w/ External Control, CV/Gate SN 10663
Note: Auction links are affiliate links for which the site may be compensated.
via this auction, also on Reverb

"1983 Moog Prodigy model 336A monophonic synthesizer in excellent condition and in perfect working order, featuring the external control section for CV/Gate and MIDI/CV interfacing. Produced from 1979-84, this short-lived synthesizer has become very popular as a bass synth in techno and electronic music; used by artists including Fatboy Slim, Depeche Mode, and The Prodigy (who even named themselves after it). Only 11,000 were ever made, and this example (with a serial near the end of the production range) dates to late '83.
The Prodigy features a dual voltage-controlled oscillator design, and this versatile synth delivers classic analog sounds with controls that are both user-friendly and versatile. Oscillator 1 has sawtooth, triangle, and pulse waveforms, and Oscillator 2 has sawtooth, triangle, and square waveforms. The waveforms can be detuned up or down by more than a fifth for thick pads and atonal sounds, and the oscillators can also be synchronized; in sync mode, the pitch wheel alters the tonality of the pitch as opposed to the pitch itself, enabling roaring synth leads.
There are Oscillator Mod, Mixer, Filter, Filter Contour, and Loudness Contour control sections, as well as Tune and Slide Wheels. The Prodigy features a genuine Moog four-pole 24dB/octave lowpass filter (the Emphasis knob), A/D/S envelope generator, and LFO with square or triangle waveforms and routing to the VCF, VCO, or both. The synth features both Pitch and Mod wheels. The back panel has a notably expanded range of controls compared to early examples of the Prodigy, and the external control section includes S Trigger in/out, Keyboard in/out, Oscillator in, VCF in, Sync in and Hi Level audio out. These additional features are essential for interfacing with CV/Gate or MIDI/CV devices.
The synth retains its original end caps which show moderate wear, and the bass-side end cap has a small chunk missing out of the back bottom corner. All of the original knobs and switches are present, and the graphics are clean. Cosmetic wear includes a number of minor nicks and scratches on the enclosure, largely relegated to the back and sides."

Herb Deutsch Has Passed Away
video upload by Moog Music Inc

Herb Deutsch passed away yesterday. He was born on Feb 9th, 1932, making him 90 at the time of his passing. If you come to this site you know who he is. You can find pages of posts featuring him here. He was constantly active in the synth community, from it's birth as the co-inventor of the Moog Synthesizer with Bob Moog, to this day. I thought I would share the recent GIANTS video featuring him above from February this year.
When the greats pass away, I like to capture images and bios at the time of their passing. To the left is Herb Deutsch's current Facebook profile image. Directly below that is the last update of his posted on December 7. Below that is an image from the Wikipia page for him with the text that immediately follows. Finally, below that are some images of him from the early days from Moog Music's Herb Deutsch Looks Back on the Early Days of Electronic Music tribute.
He and Morton Subotnick likely had the greatest influences on the design of synthesisers as we know them. Herb brought us the tonal influence via the keyboard as the direct interface for a synthsizer and Subotnick brought us atonal sound exploration akin to tape manipulation.

Deutsch died on 9 December 2022.[2]
Herbert A. Deutsch (February, 1932 - 9 December 2022[1]) was an American composer, inventor, and educator. Currently professor emeritus of electronic music and composition at Hofstra University, he is best known for co-inventing the Moog Synthesizer with Bob Moog in 1964.
Early life and education
Deutsch was born in 1932 in Baldwin, Nassau County, New York. At the age of four, he first realized he had a musical gift. Through his childhood, he studied music and began composing at a young age. Deutsch attended the Manhattan School of Music, earning his B.A. and M.A. there.
Work with Moog
Deutsch had assembled a theremin based on Moog's design in 1962 and in November, 1963 he introduced himself to Moog at a music-education conference in Rochester, NY.[3] In 1964 Moog and Deutsch started investigating the possibilities of a new instrument to aid composers.[4] Deutsch has been credited with the keyboard interface of the Moog.[4] He composed the first piece ever for the Moog ("Jazz Images - A Worksong and Blues"[3]) and performed early Moog concerts at The Town Hall and The Museum of Modern Art in New York (1969's Jazz in the Garden [5]).[6] The prototype Moog synthesizer, developed by Bob Moog and Herbert Deutsch in 1964, is part of the collections of The Henry Ford museum.[7]
Career
Deutsch was a dedicated educator. In the early 1970s he taught at St. Agnes High School in Rockville Centre, New York. He has taught at Hofstra University for over 50 years and was twice the chair of the music department. Deutsch co-founded the Long Island Composers Alliance in 1972, and worked with music foundation NYSSMA. In 1994 he proposed its Electronic Music Composition Showcase.[8]

Korg Prologue | sounds by Jexus (B-Roll) VID 2
video upload by Jexus (sounds-for-synths.com)
Part 1 with how to contact Jexus to order sound packs in this post.
"No talking demo of Korg Prologue. All patches custom-made by Jexus. I did not use any external FX in the demo; all the delays, phasers, noises and other effects are part of the Prologue engine & my intentional patch design. I did not use the onboard LF Comp but I used some slight EQing on some patches. I recorded my demo straight through an audio card. This is a standard factory Prologue unit – you don’t need any custom oscillators, FX or other addons (just the factory „Waves” oscillator).
