Syntakt x Digitone X Octatrack | Synth Hop
video upload by VoltageCtrlRtv
"Peace fam—it's been a minute since I dropped something here. I’ve been off the grid working on animated music videos for musicians, artists, and brands blending sound, story, and visual frequencies. But I’m back.
This one’s a Synth Hop beat... a fusion of boom bap hip hop vibes built entirely with synthesizers. Crafted on the Elektron Syntakt, Digitone, and Octatrack, it’s gritty, spacey, and head-nod ready. Think dusty drums wrapped in futuristic tones.
🔥 Update: I’m getting the Digitone 2 soon—so expect more music, performances, and behind-the-scenes content to flow through the channel regularly again.
If you're into synth-heavy hip hop, experimental beats, or electronic storytelling—stick around. More coming soon."

Vermona DRM
via this Reverb listing

There’s not much content on this machine online (and there are very few left in good condition) so I just uploaded a demo/jam on YouTube (see below). And here’s my elevator pitch: The 1987 Vermona DRM is THE drum machine to buy if you want the analog sounds of the drum machines from the 70’s combined with the sequencing control of drum machine’s introduced in the 80’s. The DRM was Vermona’s answer to Roland’s 808. It has a 32 step sequencer, with all 32 steps visible and controllable at once for any one of the 12 analog drum sounds, which is incredible and a very unique/rare workflow. On top of that each sound has a dedicated volume control on a fader which makes it super interactive and quick, therefore being great for performance as well.
I’ve spent the past couple years programming drums on either this or my Elektron Syntakt. There’s more flexiblity on the Syntakt obviously but I still could never get my Syntakt to sound as “analog” as the DRM. Even with the analog circuits on the Syntakt, nothing sounded as good in a mix as the DRM.
And it just looks so cool.
I’m selling both the DRM and the Syntakt because I’m ready for a change, specifically wanting to do more with live drums.
Only 'negative' note with the DRM is that I could never figure out how to get the MIDI to work. I have the latest version eprom chips (ver 10) installed but it still always acted weird when I tried to input MIDI clock. Could be my mistake but it also could be an issue with the MIDI circuitry, not sure. Oh and the “cymbal” circuit likely needs a recap as it doesn’t produce sound all of the time. This is a recent development but hasn’t bothered me because I didn’t use the cymbal sound much anyway since I prefer the sound of the open hi-hat."

How to Set-up and Use Motion Recorder on Roto-Control MIDI Controller with Elektron Syntakt
video upload by Melbourne Instruments
"Roto-Control is a motorized MIDI controller for software and hardware. Roto-Control can extend the creative capabilities of synths, drum machines and any compatible MIDI hardware or software in MIDI Mode. In this video we show you how to set-up and pair Roto-Control (in MIDI Mode) with an Elektron Syntakt, and how to use the Motion Recorder as a performance enhancing tool. We show how easy it is for Roto-Control to MIDI learn and map 8 mutes and 8 different parameters from the Syntakt to Roto-Control's buttons and knobs. This method can be applied when using Roto-Control with other Elektron devices.
🎛️ Here are key steps to setting up both devices:
1. Connect Roto-Control MIDI Out to Syntakt MIDI In, and Roto-Control MIDI In to Syntakt MIDI Out, via 2 different MIDI cables.
2. Choose MIDI Mode on the Roto-Control.
3. Check Syntakt settings page and sub menus:
• Settings - MIDI Config - Port Config - Encoder Dest INT + EXT
• Settings - MIDI Config - Port Config - Receive CC/NRPN
• Settings - MIDI Config - Sync - Clock Send and Transport Send
4. Map Syntakt parameters to Roto-Control buttons and knobs:
• Press LEARN on the Roto-Control and select the knob or button want to assign. The LEARN button will flash and the MENU window will display what knob or button you have selected.
• On the Syntakt move or press the button you want to control. Roto-Control's display will immediately display the MIDI channel and MIDI CC.
• Press LEARN to confirm and exit.
The default labels on Roto-Control will display the MIDI channel and CC value as "CH:xx/CC:xx". Further customization of controls can be done with the Roto-Setup App - change labels and colors that reflect parameters on the Syntakt.
🖥️ Download the Roto-Control Syntakt MIDI Setup used in this video here, import it and try it with your Roto-Control: https://tinyurl.com/483cbnbx
Motion Recorder:
Check the Motion Recorder settings on the Roto-Control. We want to synchronize the Motion Recorder and playback from the Syntakt as the the master clock. In MIDI Mode, press FUNC and select MIDI EXT CLK for external clock. Also select Motion Recorder length on the same page, in this video we are using 64 steps. Press FUNC to confirm and exit.
⚡️HOT TIP: On the Roto-Control or the Roto-Setup App change the minimum and maximum values via the MIN VALUE and MAX VALUE for the button mutes. MIN Value = 0 and MAX Value = 1, this will ensure fast bidirectional muting between the Roto-Control and the Syntakt.
Roto-Control is a motorized MIDI controller for software and hardware. Roto-Control brings Melbourne Instruments' motorized technology to a MIDI controller in a powerful, portable, affordable tool for studio and live applications.
Unlike anything seen before, rethink software and hardware interactions via fully assignable motorized touch-sensitive knobs, user definable haptics for detailed control, high-res screens providing easy-to-read labels for every control, and internal memory with storage for thousands of assignments. Powerful, compact, and portable, Roto-Control features three main modes of operation: MIX, PLUGIN and MIDI with Motion Recorder."

The Manually Sliced Case for Elektron Digitakt and Digitone
video upload by LaVern Winston
Manually Sliced Case Installation for Elektron Digitakt and Digitone
video upload by LaVern Winston
via WinstonsWork
"Behold, Winston's 'Manually Sliced' case for the Elektron Digitakt and Digitone I and II generations. I've painstakingly designed this with the sole purpose of safely removing as much unnecessary space as possible from the factory Elektron enclosures. This design brings you a 1 inch reduction from the front of the device, a more ergonomic angle, and added ventilation for style and peace of mind. Stay tuned for 2 vastly different case designs on the horizon.
Note: this case is not intended for the Elektron Syntakt
Note on Elektron's Factory Warranty: I stress that you make your own determination when it comes to the warranty, and whether you would like to do this modification yourself. You assume responsibility for your device while carrying out this modification."

video upload by KURSA.
"January 20th 2025
The arpoloop is a mysterious and somewhat bewildering beast that I am in no means an expert in operating yet. That being said, I find it's incredibly effective at creating slow building hypnotic compositions."

New Customizable Controller from Melbourne Instruments in the Works?
Short clip with no audio. This one is in via SovietSportsTechno who noted it appears to be an upcoming controller from Melbourne Instruments. It appears to be customizable with motorized knobs, and buttons. As you can see in the video it's mapped to Ableton's mixer controls, but it would be fair to assume you will be able to map it to other paramaters.
Update: pictured with an Elektron Syntakt. Note the parameters. Click the image to zoom in. Curious if it will have a built in sequencer.

Teach Them To Rumble And They Will Destroy Speakers Forever
video upload by EZBOT
"Both of these machines are amazing. The Syntakt is the "jack of all trades" synthesizer, offering analog synthesis, drums, and digital voices like the "chord" machine. The Digitakt II is the newest sampler from Elektron. It offers 16 tracks of stereo sampling, 400 MB of RAM, and a 20 GB SSD. Not to mention, you can load hundreds of samples in a single project. This sampler is an absolute beast. There is so much more to it, too. Today we use these boxes and make what I playfully refer to as Rumble Techno or Warehouse Techno. The session was a blast—maybe you'll learn something new about your Elektron box. Who knows?"

“Resolution” Syntakt mini set w/ The SP404 Techno, Krautrock, Electronica, Madchester, Big Beat, IDM
video upload by goth jocks
"1st time making a live set and recording it all in one go.
Influenced by 90s artist like Underworld, Chemical Brothers, and Drexciya. As well as rock/electronic adjacent artists like Primal Scream. Also, tried to incorporate some krautrock elements from bands like Neu! And Can. You will also probably hear some Boards of Canada influence, but that’s pretty much a given
Most sounds are from the Elektron Syntakt which is running through the Roland SP-404 (OG version). Also used the 404 for some interludes and spoken word elements. The compact flash card was corrupted so I had to get creative with the very limited onboard storage. GFI Systems Skylar pedal was used for reverb."

video upload by goth jocks
"A/V jam using Critter & Guitari Eyesy into Melted Electronics Chroma Corrupter. Audio from Elektron Syntakt.
First time manually controlling audio and video devices simultaneously. A little challenging to say the least! Might have to sacrifice an Elektron MIDI track to control the Eyesy
Thanks for listening!"
